Quick Custom Battle

Recommended Posts

Can't really be done, at least not in the way that you can in CMBS.  The new QB unit purchase feature started with CMBN.

Best alternative I know of is to open up the Editor, pick a QB map, handpick the forces for it (make sure you at least place them in their on-map setup zones, if not in an ideal starting position), and save it as a new scenario.  You can increase the fog of war by making several scenarios with the same Blue and different Red forces for each map you do this on, so that hopefully you don't remember exactly what you're facing when you load one of the scenarios.

I actually use that technique a lot since its combines scenario design practice and game play. With 5 AI plans, several battle files and human memory they work out pretty well. Once you get in a grove the process goes fast and you can start coming back to your battles a week or so later to increase fog of war.

If you're playing head to head:

1) find a friend who has some familiarity with editor

2) pick a map and battle type

3) you and opponent each pick forces in editor, and save as a scenario (you might need to make purchases in QB picker first in order to get prices right)

4) send map and two 'scenario files to friend from 1)

5) friend merges three files into single scenario file, and starts play in order to set pwds for each side

6) send file to first player

Enhancements:

a ) one player does step3 in QB picker with selected map

b ) in 5) friend gets to muck about a little bit with forces so that they're better matched and not exactly what each player thought they were going to get

c ) in 5) friend sets terrain objective and provides an outline narrative to each player
