Sturzkampfflugzeug
Hi, My friend encouraged me to get CMBO and now I have. It's been fun playing. Is there patches that I need? I have the CMBO:SE version. Thanks, Sturz
Tifosi
You have a very wise friend! lol I'm quite new to all things CM as well, there are some way helpful people on this forum. Don't think you should need any of the patches, but double check the downloads section at the top of this page to confirm that. Cheers.
Leopard_2
Just printing out the wisecracks: The word was "Sturzkampfbomber", not "Sturzkampfflugzeug". Ordnung muß sein.
Sturzkampfflugzeug
hehe. Oh well we can't all be geniuses or German. Not that I'm comparing the two.
Leopard_2
Luckily that's an OR function, not an XOR.

Ordnung muß sein. I don't want to start an argument with a native german speaker, but according to this source www.uni-protokolle.de Sturzkampfflugzeuge kurz StuKa was the designation in German for dive bombers. Chaos is more fun.
Leopard_2
Arguable. That "source" is tertiary at best, claims that "Sturzkampfflugzeug" is correct but doesn't give any reasons / sources for that claim. The usual "Google count" gives 536 hits for "Sturzkampfflugzeug", most of which are 1:1 copies from the text you linked (5 out of the first 10 hits alone). "Sturzkampfbomber" gives 761 hits. Add to that the fact that what those planes did while diving was bombing, the english translation of "dive bomber" (not "dive plane"), my "gut feeling" as native German speaker, and that I've never even heard the term "Sturzkampfflugzeug" before this thread... I'd like better proof.
peter tilbury
Wahrig gives both Sturzkampfflugzeug and Sturzkampfbomber as the abbreviation of Stuka.
Tifosi
crikey guys - it's the man's first thread! Give him at least two "grace" threads before breaking out the pedantry!
