Academic debate over death of Davy Crockett

Listverse recently asserted Davy Crockett didn't die in combat at the Alamo; that he was instead captured subsequently and executed at the orders of Mexican General Santa Ana.

Be that as it may, here is a most interesting academic discourse on the evidence as to how Davy Crockett most likely died and the evidence in support of that case.

The linked article presents the case he wasn't executed and that the sources claiming he was are untrustworthy, not contemporary and are contaminated by later information. At the bottom of that article is the link to the telling reply and some subsequent discussion.
