bazinga
Balance I can only see one thread here where QB balance is mentioned and have read the game engine manual around this topic to no avail. Does anyone have a feeling (or absolute knowledge) what the points ratios tend to be for QB games for the various battle types (Meeting, Probe, Attack and Assault)? I understand that balance is not the reality that CM is striving to present but it would be nice to have the option of a no objectives, equal force point slugathon where you get a time limit and VPs only for enemy troops destroyed. Setup options Also, how do the initial QB options and the actual map selected interact with each other for the final battle setup? On the QB setup screen you pick the various criteria you want and then are presented with a map selection screen where each map also has its own criteria (time, battle type and size). What takes priority?
Vanir Ausf B
The points ratios are 1.84 to 1 for assault, 1.65 to 1 for attack and 1.49 to 1 for probe.
womble
You can have a no-terrain-objective QB, I think, if you just delete the VLs from the map you're going to use before you get started on setup. You can have an even-points match by choosing Meeting Engagement. The QB settings overrule any map settings that might clash. Battle type won't clash because there are separate maps for each type, in order to accommodate different AI plans, so if you're setting up a Probe, you'll only see Probe maps to choose from (there appear to be some exceptions to this; don't know how they sneak into the list - it's not consistent so it could just be a misnamed map or two). Battle size is predicated solely on the number of points, so you could pick a Tiny map (some do get offered) for a Huge battle, though that might get a bit "fish in a barrel"...
