John Kettler
This is the true story of a sailor who in every way was a true SEAL ancestor, a valiant, tough as nails warrior of the Navy's NCDU (Naval Combat Demolition Unit) who got the mission done despite terrible injuries and the destruction of most of his unit even before starting the primary task. Guys like him helped get the forces ashore which provide the basis for CMBN. I think this might provide a useful perspective. http://hamptonroads.com/2013/04/navy-seals-honor-va-beach-man-dday-bravery Regards, John Kettler

Michael Emrys
Omaha Beach: D-Day, June 6, 1944 by Joseph Balkoski is my fav Omaha book. Mine too. On reading it I finally felt like I was beginning to understand what went on there that day. He also designs wargames! I'm sure I bought one or another of his designs back in the '70s and '80s, and I'm pretty sure I still own some. Michael
