normannobrot
Hi all. was just wanting to shoot out the question about the new improved 2.0 upgrade map builder, that underlay that you can build over. is it easy to use? can you make pretty accurate maps with it? does it show or indicate any of the real height properties? of the area you've chosen?
SlowMotion
it's just a bitmap that is shown below normal map tiles. You can change its transparency. So it doesn't show any height properties unless your bitmap shows them somehow. It's very easy to create such map using Google Earth or similar SW. This new feature can be very useful for example for putting important parts of your map to right places. IMO the problem is that real world roads etc can have any angle whereas CM map roads, buildings etc can be rotated using 45 degree steps. So it may be a good idea to make "reality based" maps instead of trying to do photorealistic maps.
A Canadian Cat
Yes, you can. It is a joy to create maps using the underlay. Check out my first experience here: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?p=1391571&posted=1#post1391571 The thread has links to other threads for how to create the contour lines. I am still working on the AI - different challenge.
