womble
Just seen something a little odd. A 2-MG German luftwaffe infantry fire team where one of the "Gunner" specialists insists on firing his P-38 rather than his MG34 when the team has an Area target order 50-some metres away. His colleague with the other MG34 is happily emptying snail drums and they've over a thousand 7.92mm Mauser to share with the two Kar-98-Wallahs, but this guy is running through their less-than-100 9mm like it's got to be used up, with his MG34 slung on his shoulder. Do MG34 even come with slings? Or maybe he's heard how overmodelled pistol fire is
Sublime
you know what I've noticed this too and with Brit paratroopers in a QB I'm playing now as well. It seems they prefer the pistol at very close range? In my case this was area target and then just a target on close troops he spotted (on the spot he was firing on) How about when the guy stands there spraying his MG42 from the hip - I cringe and wish he'd lay down and shoot.
womble
The pTruppe who's firing his MG34 as he orter is firing his from the shoulder, as they're shooting uphill at a foxhole AS. He might be 0.5m further away from the aim point. But still, even a great pistol shot should be out-firepowered by a trained LMG gunner at 50m...
womble
Upon further examination, I'm probably glad they're only using one MG34. They seem to be burning through ammo at 300 rpm at this range, so it's good ammo conservation practice. Hopefully, they'd switch to ripping with both guns if any spotted targets appeared.
Sublime
When I see the high RoF at close ranges it makes me sad. Wish my HMG's with several k of rounds would start that up at a couple hundred meters .. =/
