  1. So true. This point was probably one of the most criticisms I read on Steam reviews while I was researching this brilliant game. While I don't doubt there's improvements possible I just hope a magic line of site is not one of them - or if it is then it's able to be disabled. I'm all for developers selling more copies as it only benefits everyone in the long run. But for me personally it was what I can only presume to be realistic game mechanics like line of site that led me to purchase CM recently.
  2. As a new player to CM (CMBN specifically) I admit I'm probably not qualified to be making change proposals without earning my stripes so to speak, but hey, I will anyway. I'll state up front I'm absolutely loving CM and as a new player I wish I'd found it sooner. I feel like I've missed out on years of fun. Anyway, from my relative noob perspective and having now played and experienced both "games" I'll make what is probably a sacrilegious comparison with a different game series, Graviteam Tactics and suggest some changes I think CM would benefit from and because once you've had them - you miss them when they're gone: 1. Campaign generator. 2. AI capable of reacting to the players actions. 3. Dynamic strategic campaigns and battlefields that leave destruction, lost units and vehicles in place over the course of future battles on the same terrain. The immersion and feeling of awesomeness this gives you as a player when you notice it for the first time is seriously cool. 4. Ability to review, assign reserves your troop and vehicle load outs between engagements. 5. Better review and breakdown of engagement statistics and casualties etc.
  3. Not sure. It's a good question though. I guess the only positive would be Steam allows refunds if anyone did purchase by accident. I does seem a bit odd that the Mac version is not available on Steam when there is a native Mac version. When I purchased the Mac version (from BF) I was surprised I was given the option to download both versions, but thankful nonetheless. My original plan was CMSF2 on Steam and I'd have been happy. I boot Windows from Bootcamp for certain games on my Macbook that are not available for Mac on Steam.
  4. Steam's auto update can be problematic sometimes and I'd prefer if we could still turn it off, but overall it is probably less hassle.
  5. I was going to buy CMSF2 on Steam then as I watched YT videos about the game I discovered Battlefront's website, the demos and that the games were available for MacOS. Naturally, I then went ahead and bought CMBN because of YT. CMSF2 is next on the list later this week and I'll be buying it from Battlefront. Not because it's cheaper but because there's a Mac version. I can't believe I've missed out on CM all these years. Sometimes Steam just gets you pigeon holed due to its convenience.
  6. Hi All. New member here and new to the CM franchise too. Well I just purchased CMBN on Battlefront's site and don't regret it. I'm playing on my Mac, never even knew I could when I first came across CMSF2 on Steam, then after some digging around I discovered the native versions and they were for Mac too. Loving my gameplay on CMBN and know I'll be picking CMSF2 up very soon too.
  7. Hi, new member here. First post and newcomer to the CM franchise. I've been tracking this thread waiting for my registration to get approved. I was originally looking at the CMSF2 on Steam but just loved the fact I could run the demos on my Macbook. Finally took the plunge with CMBN and I'm loving it. CMSF2 will be a close second in a few days I'm sure. I was nervous about whether the full version would run on Big Sur but no problems so far. I'm on a fully loaded 2017 MBP and everything runs great. Loving the fact I now don't need to boot Windows from bootcamp to play CM. It was not something I was looking forward to but until I landed at Battlefront I thought that was my only option. I'll be holding off updating to Monterey until it's a bit more stable.
