  1. Thanks I was on earlier and did not see a sale. I'll check again!
  2. I've bought CMSF2, CMFB, CMBN and CMFI and all the DLC directly from BF. However, I see Steam currently has a 30% off sale but the titles are for PC Windows only. I play on Mac. If I buy on a title on Steam can I download the Mac version from BF? I'd like to get CMBS in the Steam sale.
  3. Hope you got it sorted. I was running every SF2, BN, FB, & FI on a Macbook until it gave up the ghost a month or so back. I've just got my new Macbook M1 and reinstalled all four titles and "DLC" and everything is running perfectly from what I can tell. now I just need to get all the mods sorted again. Good luck getting your titles reinstalled.
  4. WTF was that? Is right. I can't believe I watched 2 minutes of it. Although I did catch myself smiling.
  5. Keeping it simple is often the best way. Hard to argue against any of these improving the current situation. #1 in particular though just in general terms. I think I regret clicking the big red button nearly every turn.
  6. No, I have the 2018 intel but I believe there's a thread confirming they run on the new M1's.
  7. For anyone wanting a YT video binge fest here's another series of The Scottish Corridor by Requim87.
  8. I'm also very new to the CM franchise and have slightly differing views about both the price and the games being the same. I own CMSF2 (plus all the DLC's, flavour packs or whatever you want to call them). I also own a number of the WW2 titles, CMBN, CMFB and CMFI, again with all the add ons. One thing, which IMHO you are missing in your assessment, is that these add-ons also include additional campaigns, maps and scenarios in addition to their vehicles, regiments and weapons etc. There's both large and subtle differences to all of the WW2 titles I own and there's simply no comparison with the WW2 titles and SF2. I'd also spin the "Price tag too high" remark a bit different. For sure I needed to think hard about dropping my money (I'm on a fixed income these days) on these titles. However, in the end, for me at least, it came down to "Value" rather than "Price". I play a lot of games, from many different genres but ultimately I enjoy sims, war, strategy and role play genres and all the better if some overlap each other. I've spent $$$ on so called AAA titles and had no more than 10 hours in to them before I'm bored and move on. I've spent $10 on supporting indie dev games in early access over a period of years and I've spent literally hundreds and hundreds of hours on these titles, often getting what amounts to a new game every few months as the dev releases updates. Then there's the Paradox titles as an example, that are not "cheap" to buy but offer me, as a player, real value in terms of the hours and hours of gameplay that with DLC's add to and alter the games over the course of a decade in many cases. When I evaluated my expense on my new CM titles that is how I looked at it. Yes, it was a large outlay in terms of cash, but seriously, I knew I'd eventually have thousands of hours in to those titles over the course of the coming years. Price? Not for me, it's about long terms value and I'm more than happy with my decision.
  9. Correct. I just love the fact I can run all my "new" CM titles on my Mac.
  10. Maybe not the best way to encourage a new user to forum just because their opinion differs from your own? But I get your points. I'm also new to CM and have to agree with you, all of the games play differently.
  11. Noticed nothing yet. Although I've only recently started and still making my way on that first battle and finding it a tough one. What sort of bugs are being reported?
  12. Here's a great video by @Hapless explaining how PBEM works. Check out his channel for great CM content in general and lots of newbie stuff in particular.
  13. Yes, I agree 100% Double Vision's videos are fantastic too. Hope he posts some new content again soon. I'm currently trying out this campaign and have to admit I'm finding this first battle quite tough. His video has helped although I had some subtle differences in my approach but have taken more casualties than I expected.
  14. Here's another YT video AAR from CMFI by @OnePingOnly. As he's a member on the forum I'm sure most already have seen these but I just found his channel today so for those who've not checked his stuff out I'd say go do so! It looks like he's fairly new to the video AAR's but is also currently active and from the ones I've watched is producing a very high standard of AAR. Check this scenario out here:
  15. I'm still new to CM but already own CMSF2, CMBN and CMFB and having a great time playing all of them. I have really enjoyed the various Youtube channels and these were a real inspiration for me to purchase the games. Amazing what the YT algorithm will offer up and I particularly want to give a huge shout out to the work done by Josey Wales and Usually Hapless. Fantastic content. I can't begin to imagine the time that goes in to making that content but I just want to say thanks. Too bad Josey Wales seems not to have posted any videos for over a year now. Anyway, I'm just about to add CMFI to my collection purely on the basis of his AAR videos.
  16. Great questions, observations, comments that prompt yet more great questions. For me - a gamer, interested in "more serious" war games I'm so grateful I recently stumbled across the CM franchise - CM appears to be exactly what it is - a great game. That's it, it's a game and it's great fun. But, I've just over 100 hours on the clock so far and I'm fortunate to have never found myself in the position of truly understanding what being in a war is really like. Obviously there's enough under the hood of this "game" which allows for a representation of how real life might be - a simulation - a way of portraying outcomes to situations presented and represented in game format that is both accurate and as expected in real life. Its most probably why some versions are used as actual training tools by the military. After all simulating outcomes to situations is a lot less costly than waiting to make mistakes with human lives when the real thing does kick off. I'm blown away (no pun intended) by just how bad I feel when told to avoid casualties in my mission briefing and I then proceed to lose a "man" 2 minutes in to the operation. I can't even begin to express how that might feel in real life. I'd also like to thank all the folks who've spent hours and hours coming up with new scenarios, campaigns, maps and mods that will keep this game fresh for me for what I assume, like it has for so many on this forum, will be years to come.
  17. I'm a latecomer too and know exactly what you mean regarding casualties. I'm only on mission 3 so far and took my first KIA after having 2 wounded in mission 2. I was devastated.
  18. @puje I've just purchased CMSF2 and after reading this thread I have downloaded your campaign before playing anything else. I'm currently on mission 3 and thoroughly enjoying it so far. Thanks so much for all the effort put in to this. I can't even begin to imagine the hours to put this all together.
  19. As noted above in an earlier post by @Lucky_Strike and now I've also purchased CMSF2, I see my earlier examples are maybe only relevant to CMBN. For SF2 the files are indeed located outside the app executable now and easily accessible from the application folder:
  20. Might be a bit off topic for your example but maybe this will help someone else struggling to install mods on Mac. I just bought CMBN and will be purchasing CMSF2 very soon, both on MacOS Big Sur. I installed the HQS sound mod by right clicking the App launcher icon in the finder (You'll find that in the under Apps and the CMXX app game folder. Then selecting and clicking "Show Package Contents" That will take you to the Contents folder. Open the Contents folder. Then open the Data folder. Next. Create a z folder and drop your mod in there.
