I dont have any wish to specific units, I want only encourage you to this initiative, but I know also that you are able to swap vehicles via Blender, so this is more interresting for me, and I hope you can eventual let me a hand if I would need it.

    Cheers

since I have a better gaming computer and I won't be using MAC anymore, adding more units will be easy for me now. Ill download Blender soon and start working on other things like maybe adding suppressors to the M4 (specifically for SF & Ranger units) different types of buttstocks. Just have to learn mapping. I want to work on some of the weapon sounds that are already out there. Im currently in school for recording arts (Music) so I know how to EQ the bursts so they're a little more softer on the ears but still sound the same. I have plenty I want to do. But ill definitely reach out for help when needed. THANKS!!!

I had something similar late last year on the Nvidia side. What solved it for me was going into the Control Panel and telling it to play the CM Games at a "Fixed Refresh Rate". So effectively turning off G-Sync/FreeSync etc. If you also have a modern monitor then this may be the culprit. Unsure how/where you would do this with an AMD GPU though for specific programs.

Do you know the MAC version of this solution? im having a Graphic issue with SF2

  3. Hi guys. I got vertical grips on the M4A1 with ACOG in SF2. I also managed to import them in CMBS for the most part. The issue I face now(CMBS) is that I can't find the mdr file for the m4a1-TWS. I was able to swap the models for the m4a1.mdr and the m4a1_acog mdr. there should be a third mdr im guessing. but I can't find it in the brz files I exploded. can anyone help with this? Id like the entire platoon to have the same M4.

  4. so I figured out how to get the Rhino mount on the ACH and vertical grips on the M4. The issue I face now is that I can't find the mdr. file for the m4a1-TWS. I was able to swap the models for the m4a1.mdr and the m4a1_acog mdr. there should be a third mdr im guessing. but I can't find it in the bra files I exploded. can anyone help with this?

I'm burnt out working on my campaign for CMBS and feel like doing something different. Would anyone be interested in playing a scenario or campaign based on the first battle of the La Drang valley (LZ XRay)? For anyone not familiar with the name, it's the battle the movie We Were Soldiers was based on. If so, I may start that as a side project. I just don't like making scenarios if I'm the only one playing them.

Yeah im Always down to play something new

Glad you got some enjoyment out of it. If you like going into the village, replay it a few times (Red has all five COAs in the AI, and several allow for some randomness). It isn't meant to be particularly difficult. I originally built it as a map/scenario for people who had never played CM before to talk them through the controls before going to another scenario. The town is really just a way to get extra practice and when you have a classroom worth of people it acts as a buffer to give those who 'get it' something to do while I give extra help to those who are behind or having difficulty.

So I am kind of curious for feedback about this map/scenario in the context of this community- where people already know the controls and its all a bit basic.

Campaign could be an interesting way to step through some things. Do you think laying out several scenarios and using the Campaign feature would be useful or too much? LIke Mission 1, kill the squad on the range, mission result screen, Mission 2 clear the village, result screen, Mission 3 using vehicles, results, Mission 4 arty, etc etc.  Or do you mean just fleshing out some more opportunity all within this one scenario/map?

I think the range and the village should be two seperate scenarios. I understand this is a game, But machine gun ranges and MOUT sites are miles apart from each other, however, I like how you had the range set up. Watching the M240 and the spotter together reminds me of when I go to the range. The only thing about have a range in CM is the the moving AI. Hard to hit a target that ducks.

I don't think the AT team should be present. They really don't have a job. That's something that could be part of an Infantry based training campaign. That'll get newcomers in tune with how to use Javelins.

But im thinking in the mindset of a soldier and how training works. Im always doing these types of training , so its hard for me not to mention it.

Well I meant all 4 mission scenarios just as a dismounted infantry platoon or company. Same thing with vehicles. Although now that I think about it. using support could just be tied into the infantry training campaign. I brought it up because my buddies in the infantry would always be in the field for days at a time doing MOUT, movement under fire(Bounding), calling CAS, and defense operations. I just thought that would be great for newcomers. Think of it as Combat Mission: Basic Training lol

This could all be used in Black Sea as well

Bit late to the party. I'll try to get this onto The Few Good Men, but Google Drive will have to do for now:

(Or looks like I can attach right here).

This is a map and scenario I originally built in CM Pro Edition to use an introduction to the controls. Rebuilt it here in SF2. One side of the map is just a flat "Firing Range" with tower and firing line. The other has a small village.

You are a US dismounted Infantry Platoon. Move your platoon onto the firing line (to get familiar with selecting and movement) then move them across the firing range towards the berm. (Some enemy will appear, highlighting that you dont need to do anything and your AI squad leaders will take care of fire control of the squads.)

Then move into the village and clear out the enemy. You have 60mm mortars and a UAV available. There are several Red AI plans so there should be some replayability.

I prefer the CM Pro version of the map (png attached)- there is a better variety of buildings (barns, commercial buildings vs residential, plus modular buildings) and some more interesting flavor objects (farm equipment, gravestones to make a graveyard around the church, etc). But this isnt too bad either in SF2, if I say so myself.

    Hope you all enjoy!

I played this scenario. Its not bad. I placed my M240 team on top of the building and it looked like an actual range. it was quite easy for me to send a squad to flank the enemy in the village and finish the off. Do you think you could make it into an actual training Campaign? I think one that emphasizes use of Infantry/Vehicle/Air/Artillery Support would be pretty cool.

  8. Im waiting on another Modern Version of CM to come out. SF2 & Black Sea I could play all day. Doesn't even have to be historically accurate. Or maybe Iraq or Afghanistan. As much as I appreciate history, I prefer more modern combat. Only thing I would change or do differently, is the ability to drop-off/pick up a squad via UH-60. But nonetheless I appreciate what's been done so far.

  9. so this has nothing to do with the thread but I can't get an answer anywhere else.

So I've been playing shock force 2 on my M1 Mac and after maybe 20 minutes of playing it starts acting strange. For example certain icons will disappear and some will be misplaced. when I exit the battle, there's no normal splash screen. its just the menu with a black screen. Not sure what the problem is but it would be nice if anyone knows how to fix it.

  11. I would day the use of JSOC. Proper room clearing mechanics. No just running into the building and hoping you spot the enemy first. I created a mod for Foregrips, but I would like to see them come with the game themselves. maybe being able to use a Blackhawk to bring in more troops. or maybe have it pop up to. drop off troops and then disappear again.
