  1. Sublime, T-90A is not 20 years old it entered service in 2005, It is based off of a better model of the original T-90. Funny to say the M1A2 is a new tank, they are also majority wise upgraded tanks, But they are effective upgrades with whole new armor packages and sensors, Which is essentially what a T-90AM would be, If we are speaking about 2005 model tanks being upgraded, There is also chances that there will be new builds instead of just upgrades. If you ask me I think the old T-90s will be upgraded to T-90AM standards and new T-90AMs will be built. MoD already said they were going to upgrade T-90s to T-90AM. And the technology made from the design of the T-14 will be put into it such as the new thermal sights, The new cannon to fit the T-90AM style layout. If these were simulated in game it would be a huge advantage for the T-90AM.

  2. The only issue I really see in the game when it comes to unfair unbalance is not the simulation of thermals and optics, But it appears Russian and Ukrainian vehicles have trouble spotting like there is a certain delay for them to start seeing. Armor is simulated well minus one incident I had where 2 T-90AMs were penetrated in a line from the front hull. Plus the M1A2s all are equipped withe ERA on the turret side which they should have put ones without them. And also the side of the Abrams is more thick then it should be. That is my only issue, Everything else seems fine. The delay is present on all RU and UA vehicles, I am wondering how they simulate spotting?

And quite true on infantry optics, In 2017 most units especially front line units will have optics of atleast 2X magnification. Squad leaders with 4X, If BF needs some info I can gladly provide sources, I have some friends in the Russian army and their units have weapon sights and are fully equipped with radios. Also another thing that would be great is if they could make the troops peak around corners of walls and shoot, Or rest the weapons on stuff in buildings or wherever they can to get more accurate fire down range.

  3. Sshh,  Adults talking.

What is that suppose to mean, I am an adult, And I earned my adulthood in the army.

    Steve,

Please without escalating matters more, I'm just going to talk about why I think that my soldiers keep being a sissy we army boys are trained not to be :D Although you are right of course there will be different types of reactions on the battlefield, It is plain and simple, Run to cover shoot back or hit the deck and shoot back. Sure it is very hard to code such things into games, (Game AI) And I understand if it is really a great hassle. I tried my fair run at game designing and I stopped right away the second I saw the amount of coding.

For different situations I understand cowarding, For example if a grenade launcher explodes in front of me I will cover my head while on the floor. But if I see bullets flying at me my first instinct is to get to the nearest cover, Or even shoot back to try to get the drop on him. Of course then there is the combat fatigue, I read on some US psychological studies for the military, And they said the best a soldier is, Is during the 15-30 day mark periods of being deployed to action. After that they become fatigued, Which I won't argue against, But I think there should be another option for something like that, I never tried setting the morale to fanatic or extreme maybe that is a solution? Would be nice having US fanatics vs RU fanatics fighting it out in game :D But seriously, Some of my troops just make me want to get into the game and yell at them for forgetting whenever comrade sergeant was beating him and kicking him around and worse of all making him peel potatoes during his army service.

  4. Steve, I didn't argue with you just because you kept providing sources from Ukraine, Or 5th columnist news to me, Or even US and British. You sound really convinced, So I won't argue with you on things like that just because it is not pleasant for me, And it will make no difference arguing. I won't argue on this one either, Call it what you want, But I am simply filled up, Same stories, Same propaganda, Same lies. It isn't healthy for me being a Russian citizen who has relatives who are directly effected by the war, Who have people in Crimea, Yet you as the American citizen you are certainly know about what went on in Crimea. Also I haven't provided any links solely because I know no one will change their minds. That is why I think we should keep the topic on track, Instead of fueling me by bringing up incidents in Ukraine. This is a good game, And fun topics to talk about, Why always fuel it into hate?

  5. Out of all units the Ukrops say GRU? That sounds desperate, GRU isn't sent into stuff like that, It would be more of a recon run, Sabotage, Assassinations, Ambushes, Defenses, Infiltration. The rebels themselves have enough power to send a patrol into a trench for intel, Even so what valuable intel can it offer,  Even if so GRU would use hand deploy able drones to make sure it's safe to continue. Before going into a abandoned Ukrainian town, They will have a huge recon of the town before entering just like the US would. I don't get is that some sick of joke of making fun of GRU. Think of it as saying the US used Navy Seals to retrieve intelligence, From a "Abandoned" Iraqi village, Without using their recon assets such as the Raven, Or even regular old fashioned recon before entering the trench system.

  6. Sublime, Appreciate your argument.

Yes I have been in combat, Wasn't a large scale war but was a intense battle. Happened when I was deployed into Ossetia. We were stationed at a outpost, Just waiting having fun talking until a group of militants opened fire at us through vans. I witnessed the first impacts bullets landed onto the sand bag 5 meters infront of me and hit the pavement. I ducked then remembering that if I get supressed im done I shot back at the flashes of guns coming about 50 meters infront of me, I shot back. I felt my rib get crushed and I looked onto my chest and saw my ammunition holster had rips in it, I still didn't know I was shot. But overall, we had our guy with a PKM spray the tree line and after about a full burst of his ammo nothing shot back at us. After waiting for our local patrol to come back which was some guys on BTR, they investigated, And results were a few dead Georgian guys. Probably wasn't Georgian military but I don't know the details. Either way training does help, I was beaten, Starved, Trained intensively, Indoctrinated, Educated, In fighting a war with no limits.

I've seen countless of US marines, When engaged instead of cowering and not aiming or shooting back calling out targets in a ordered form. Eventually coordinating with a vehicle. I am not saying that a soldier will not hit the deck, But he will still aim and shoot back. There are countless of stories from even Chechnya where some lads were engaged in hell, Hungry, Low supplies, Lost many comrades. Yet they didn't crumble under pressure and keep in mind these lads aren't special forces, But a mix of volunteers and conscripts. Let's look at another example, There is a video where US troops are engaged by a RPG (anti tank version or the US troops wouldn't be able to upload) And they got their squad into formation and engaged the enemy.

  7. Quite true, But we are trained to react under immense stress. If I see bullets flying at me and I have no cover, I wont duck so he can kill me, I will hit the floor aim at the area the bullets are coming from and shoot back. My squad was ambushed at the post, We didn't have time to be scared. We ran to our positions and sprayed back. We even had a wounded guy who was still shooting.

  8. Made this so that we can have a interesting thread, Related to the game, And militarys involved in game. I will start it off with something on my mind for a while, And there are quite a few "ex" military men on here. During a scenario I made, I realized that even if it is a game, My soldiers were acting good and bad, For example they would bravely fight the enemy, But then another unit would just cowards the second a machinegun sprayed around them. These troops in my scenario are all regular and normally motivated.

Now from me serving, I know that if a machinegun sprays near me, My only chance of fighting would be to shoot back. I have been shot and hit by a bullet, I did not coward like the game has it but I shot back. I think all soldiers in game should have less cowarding when it comes to being shot at by LMGs, And Assault rifles. Of course if you see a tank shooting his coaxial machine gun at you, you will run or hide and scream. Sure the game is trying to be fair, Not putting any bias into it, But I am sure even Russian or Ukrainian conscripts would fight back. I have experiences with conscripts, They aren't as well experienced as us professionals were but they were still hard sons of mothers. I am sure US infantry won't coward either, I mean it's either shoot or be shot.

BTW I started this thread for discussing any topics related to the game, I don't feel like opening a thread for every thing I want to discuss about.

  9. I believe it is K for Cumulative ammunition , That is how it is marked in Russian tanks. As far as I know practice rounds are not marked separately but marked as their respective roles they are being simulated for.

As for the MAZ video, Who ever side they are on, That really is stupid. In the Russian army for messing up that bad you go to a place shortly called "Disbat" And probably will serve in the army longer then you have been drafted or signed up for. Did they not set the tank on? This is completely unacceptable by any army standards. The tank on the MAZ is either a T-72B or a T-64BV, Either which I doubt is a Russian army supply. Due to the fact that it hasn't any escorts, Either rebels, Or Ukrainian, But I am thinking its the rebels. Possibly a trophy or maybe tank got messed up and was heading back for repairs.

  10. poo poo -

    1. Poo poo is defined as to dismiss an idea or suggestion.

An example of poo poo is when someone invites coworkers to a bar but another person says the idea is no good.

Buy me a beer, I promise to shut up....until it is empty.

Ha, Maybe one day but I can't buy you one today, But I can tell you what type of beer to buy if you want my opinion.

  11. sburke, you need to chill out, you have been getting on some of my nerves with that "poo poo" what ever that means, This is the Armata discussion thread if it gets locked because of you I will have put -1 reputation  :D But seriously lets not derail this thread, It made it 85 pages long so far.

  12. You may have noticed from the first video that the hatches' positions have changed, compared to earlier photos. Those Kurgs that we've seen on parade had welding seams there. I think it's a very good sign, meaning that they are okay with changing stuff up till the end of field trials. Same is most likely true with internal equipment placement configs.

Full video should be up this Sunday.

Such a beauty makes me tear up every time  :D

  13. I appreciate bringing up sources and facts, I will not make a long post but quickly reply to some of your major points.

The 5th tank brigade all the way in Ulan Ude? Why do so when you have tank brigades at the border. That doesn't make sense... I know of many brigades memorized that are near the Ukrainian border, And BTW did drills for certain events like in Ukraine. I read and watch Ukrainian, Russian, And English based news. I don't want to misinform any body on here. I feel that you accused me of being a Putin bot  :D (Joking)

The SSU throws out misinformation just as how FSB does, Or any other Russian agencies, The US does too and ect ect. The illegal ousting of Viktor was not right, The people of Eastern Ukraine didn't get a vote, But that is not what is the main problem. If you go full ANTI-RUSSIA in a country where you can say the Russian people originated from (Eastern Ukraine) Of course people will want to rebel, The DPR/LPR was a skeleton at first, Of course us Russians naturally will come fight on the side of our countrymen. Sure you can say Putin lied about the "Green men" But please keep in mind you can say all of Crimea (around 90%) voted yes. I have family members living there, I am actually originally from Crimea and Rostov areas. (my family)

OSCE doesn't care about anything, When the plane was shot down (you know the one that Mr. Putin's army shot down according to the West) there was a delay for inspectors to arrive on scene! The Russian Federation showed proof that it was not the rebels who shot it down, But infact the Ukrainian armed forces that did. You are overlooking the bombing of civilian areas that are in rebel control, The rebels like to bomb themselves? And even before the UA airforce was doing strafe runs onto residential areas! Don't forget those. In the end even if Russia is fueling this war what will they gain?! Absolutely nothing, Eastern Ukraine cannot join the Russian Federation, Russia knows this. If it does great for me, I can visit my family and friends there, Without fear.

This is totally unfair, You totally ignore Russian media sources because of a bias look onto the conflict. P.S. if you need me to list Russian Military units that can be deployed in Ukraine without needing to take units from the other side of Siberia you can ask me.

  14. John Kettler, Yes those were my problems and you have explained it in better detail. I with my eyes can see a tank like object from atleast 500 meters in a flat field.

Red Rage, I have had countless of experiences. And that wall of invisibility is dead on. I don't even like playing UA vs RU because the UA can't see nothing either.

  15. There is no organized Russian forces there, Just Special forces and advisers. Everything in your list sounds persistent I wont counter argue, Except for saying that there are Neo-Nazis, Please, Do not forget that there are nazi right wing units on the Ukrainian side. Directly under Neo-Nazi leaders and commanders. Burat tank unit? You do realize that Russian tank forces are 5 times skilled and better trained than the Ukrainians and just about everything else is. I visited DPR late last year, And I spoke with guys there, They felt let down that there isn't any Russian combined forces already helping. If there really were units fully organized and strengthened for war then the war would be dramatically different. The rebels are undermanned, This is a reality. They are doing great for the equipment they have, Now they got better equipment from funds and also finally help from Russian officials.

I don't understand what you mean by vacationers? Would you call US advisers in Syria vacationers too? Not so. There is no reason in sending vacationers when they can work with Russian military, And the rebels.

  16. Even if the T-90AM is somehow way below the M1A2 SEP v2, Then why cannot my tank see him from the side until he sees and destroys my tank. I mean the range is 100 meters, What is this a sick joke? And I a fully happy to argue about the M1A2 SEP v2s capabilities with the T-90AMs. I have sources and information to give facts. Sure in game the T-90AM is way less capable then the M1A2 but I mean come on, How much technology does a tank need to see a tank like target at 500 meters first? Hes directly in front of you! I just made my own scenario, T-72B3 flanks the Abrams which is directly infront of him yet the Abrams turns out and puts his M829A4 straight into my face. Surely there will be some adjustments to Russian vehicles' optics?

  17. Hmm, I don't know, I use my tanks the best I can, Even getting to the side of the Abrams. My tank doesn't notice him somehow, By the time I do the Abrams swivels around and takes me out. I mean this is getting ridiculous. Same with the Stryker, My BMP-3 sees him late even though he has a view on his side perfectly, And gets penetrated from the frontal turret by 40MM HE rounds. Please for the love of God how was that even possible. I haven't yelled that much playing a game in a while  -_-

  18. John kettler,

I dont know what to tell you, I don't do US armor vs RU armor anymore. It is completely unfair. At ranges of 1200 meters in flat terrain with no obstacles, The T-90AM fails to spot the Abrams. While the Abrams always spots it. And then shoots God's lightning bolt into my poor T-90AM. The T-90AMs both day and and thermal optics are way then good enough to spot the M1A2 Abrams, And get a shot off at it in the first few seconds, Just like the M1A2 can. AT-15s are my only choice against them.

What do you think about this topic? Have you had any similar experiences. I mean I don't want to be the guy who criticizes the game, I actually enjoy this game very much. But I would greatly enjoy this to be adjusted. I had both the tank crews sent to the same training by the way, Both facing each other dead on, Same leadership. 1 on 1, On every single try the Abrams lases, My T-90AM pops smoke then when the smoke clears the Abrams shoots and sends my T-90AM to tank hell  out of 4 times I tried this. Maybe this is bad luck?  <_<

  19. The real range should be 25-100, Usually special forces advisers are sent to lead command. Although might be a few vehicle crews sent to train and operate the vehicles. Volunteers who stay longest should be guys who are trained by special advisory teams, So then they can train their volunteers. And then there are the teams that stay to protect critical areas. Maybe up 150. Although the estimation of 500 doesn't sound crazy I really doubt that is what it is.
