  1. I downloaded the CMFI 1.12 patch but I can't unzip it.

I have tried different programs included 7zip.

I have no problem with the other patches.

I created a ticket to battlefront but they seem to think it is working as it should.

Does anyone have the patch or could download it and check so I know if the fault is on my end?

If I remember correctly the Paras in Road to Montebourg are glider troops. Glider troops wore the same uniforms as comventional American Infantry.

No there are both. But you are right about the Gliders, I learned that in another thread. I think that in the stock campaign the paratroopers get the right uniforms, but Im playing an altered version.

I believe so. In order to get the helmets to work, you likely have to rename the model files as well as the texture files.

Just curious, why bother going through the effort of making regular infantry wear airborne uniforms when you can just take airborne?

Do you now how to rename them?

Yes good question :) There is an updated version of the stock campagin: The road to Montebourg. For some reason the paratroopers are represented as regular infantry

The uniform mod you are trying to use is out of date. I know because I had the same problem you had a while ago.

When v3 came out, the uniform names were changed. The mod you are trying to use is using the old names for uniforms.

To fix it, simply rename the bmp file to:

    smod_american_m41_uniform

It should now show up in game. So if you have 3 bmp files for uniforms they should be named:

    • smod_american_m41_uniform
    • smod_american_m41_uniform 2
    • smod_american_m41_uniform 3

    Hope this resolves your issue.

Im trying to get normal infantry to use airbourne uniforms. Renaming the files as described worked. I tried to rename the helmet files also but I couldn't notice any difference

    The airbourne mod also contains 5 us-airborne-boots.bmp, 1 us-gear.bmp and 1 us-musette-bag-shovel.bmp.

Can I rename them to so they will work?

Welcome. Actually MJ (above) and EZ did those many moons ago. Just needed to rename them so you could use them in the campaign without having to edit it. They were made long before all the engine upgrades. They will show up for all US infantry for as long as you leave them in the mod folder. They actually should be renamed as "smod_american_m41_uniform [82nd]" then they would only show up when the 82nd uniform is chosen from the drop down tab in the editor, which you can do on a squad by squad basis.

I am gonna go ahead and delete that link seeing that you got them.

    Mord.

So Im doing this campaign again. If you remeber, your uniformfix gave the gliders the olive airboure uniform which was great.

Now I want to give the paratroopers the khaki brown uniforms. They now have the regular infantry uniform.

Could you explain how to rename the files in a khaki uniformmod so that they will work?

    Thanks

Ive noticed that when you keep adjusting an artillery barrage(to get that perfect landing point) it eventually will calls itself off with no warning and you have to start the mission over from the beginning. Why does it do this?and is there a max# you can adjust before it does this?

This has happen to me to in CMFB. I always set the barrage to maximum and then adjust or cancel if I need to. A few times the barrage have stopped by itself. There is a small possibility that I used point target and a building/target was destroyed so I cant say for sure it is a bug.

You have all the modules? Glider infantry begin wearing the same Airborne Uniforms in September, 1944; as they did in reality. Holland QBs and scenarios will depict them as such. In Normandy the GIRs wore the standard infantry battledress. Hence why you see them wearing that in the earlier campaigns.

    Ok interesting! Thx

I recall that there can be only one "type" of uniform assigned or modded in a game; things like "infantry", "airborne", "ranger", and such.  If this scenario uses a "regular" infantry unit to represent the 2/325 Glider Infantry instead of an "airborne" unit, it will use the same uniform for glider and regular infantry troop types.  To verify, consider the following:

    1.   Open this battle in the scenario editor and see how the GIR was selected and named.
    2.   Run the CMBN game "Rezexplode" utility and check the USA uniform outputs to see every USA uniform type the game uses.

Based on what you discover, you may (or may not) be able to make the change you desire.  For what it's worth, glider troops were often underrated by their peers, so let them march on and accomplish the mission with whatever uniforms issued!  B)

Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

Can't seem to open a campaign mission with the scenario editor?

Yes I guess but I think the little guys looks so cool in the airborne uniform.

Wow can't believe that they were underrated, I think the whole glider plane idea is crazy, and anyone willingly getting on those "planes" should get a medal :)

Were glider infantry actually issued different uniform?  Paras were, for the simple reason they jump out of aeroplanes for a living and thus have particular needs, glider troops weren't supposed to do that.

I'm not a uniform expert by any means (got the books, can't be arsed to read them, too boring, not enough tanks), but might this be the explanation?

Maybe, but I made a quick mission with glider infantry just to check and they wore airborne uniforms

Interesting. @Bootie there is something wrong with the HTML on the site since browsers are treating it like a text file - with predictable results. @Swant if you right click on the link and select "Save Link As..." (using FF similar command for other browssers) you can get it to save the file as a .7z file and it will then be open-able by a zip program that supports that format.

That worked! Don't know why I didn't try that but thanks
