You can usually blast a hole through those tall walls pretty easily with most tanks.

I love FI - particularly FI-GL. The period is interesting, the maps are amazing and the nationalities are varied. Love the Kiwis, but the Italians are a really interesting army to play too.

Commonwealth Forces. I got a bit bored with the British paratroops.
-
Only times I use armour arcs with tanks is to stop them taking on infantry, when I use a 360° arc that goes right off the edge of the map.
-
I find MEs predictable and often a little boring. Much prefer the 3 other types...

Awesome pic !

I didn't like it at first, for the same reason, that it looked cluttered, but I changed my mind and now I like it, for the same reason the other guys gave, as a casualty reminder and so I can see what weapons need to be buddy aided.
-
SU76s also have a couple of precious rounds of smoke each, which Soviet tanks don't have. Heavy artillery and TRPs are also quite valuable in urban environments.

Looks excellent so far...

If any sort of change to the KIA/WIA process were being looked at, I'd love to be able to find out how many were killed by artillery, including friendly fire.
-
In a recent QB, I had a 3:8 -ish ratio of dead to wounded (just over 1/4 of total casualties dead), but I was applying buddy-aid as quickly as I could. It seemed realistic, and had a lower fatality ratio than CMBN, it seemed.

That really does sound epic :O
Playing the AI is harder and more fun now. The triggers seem to really work, but much kudos to the designers who use them to such good effect.

Dismount - in the special menu - should be there. I don't think you have to Bail Out...

Politics politics - who really cares.... I play wargames to escape from reality, not obsess over it.

For Normandy and FI, I would love to see an expansion of fortifications - in particular I'd like to bunkers with AT gun emplacements. And for Normandy, it would be super-cool (and probably very popular with new customers) to have landing craft. It would be great to play the actual D-Day landing itself.
-
Certainly interesting. If you changed the house rule disallowing bombardment of Attacker's set-up zone - requiring the attacker to immediately move off, it might balance up any Soviet artillery advantage - if there is one.
-
...I can't bring myself to play the Soviets after the fact they murdered 20 million people before the Nazis even really killed anyone (SA Purges/Kristalnacht excepted) and it seems that the Germans really only wanted a strong German SOI just to stop these guys. Doesn't seem right...
Ouch politics...

Downloading now - yay !! :D

What I'd like is if you could pick the map before setting the other parameters.

Frey,
You could always go into the editor and change whatever aspects of the MG Map to give it a more Frenchy look ( ex, delete some buildings and add the Normans, delete Windmills )...This way, you can get the improved MG AI and have that Normandy/French look.
I could bake my own bread too, but if someone's planning on selling something better for a few bucks I'd be happy to pay
-
Much as I'm looking forward to CMRT - it would be cool to have some new maps for CMBN (and CMFI for that matter). The ones that came with MG have noticeably better AI plans, but they aren't very French. Besides, sometimes I like to play the same sort of terrain (e.g. probe small rough) more than a few times.

Wives have left husbands for less.
...only lucky husbands... :|

I thought I'd get us started on musing on the sort of terrain it would be realistic to encounter for Bagration...
Very interesting, thanks. I remember reading of Germans telling stories about the misery of their retreat through this landscape, that was hot and humid and full of insects.

They can fire unbuttoned.
...I meant buttoned... :/
Test range: The Maxim generates the similar firepower per minute like the heavy MG42
in Combat Mission Red Thunder

I'm not surprised both MGs were similar - a water-cooled HMG ought to have a high rate of fire capable of killing a lot of people out in the open.
A better test would include things like accuracy, ease of deployment etc. Russian HMGs are a bugger to move around, the crews get tired very quickly, which doesn't happen with MG42s. MG42s also seem to be very accurate, although usually only when my opponent is using them.
