Not sure how building and protecting schools in Afghanistan made anyone richer but Im happy for 'em.
This is offtopic, but a few things:
The main reason for the invasion was hunting terrorists. The whole "democracy" thing was more of a propaganda slogan. It should be noted that there wasn't a single election in Afghanistan without massive manipulation. The Mullahs remained largely in power and were able to forbid newspaper if they didn't conform to islamic ideology. Warlords and criminals were put into high office in the government. Not that this government had much power outside of Kabul, where much of the "aid money" directly went to various warlords. This kind of corruption delegitimized democracy in Afghanistan completely.
BTW according to Human Rights watch only a third of girls actually went to school during the occupation. The USA alone put 1 billion into the country, although only 2% of that actually went to the afghan population, not the US Army, rich Afghans abroad or warlords.

During the recent decades, this is what many young people in the West thought about when they heard the word "war": Going far away to fight for reasons you don't really understand.
Oh, they understood the reasons all right: Making rich people richer.

If anything, history has shown that excessive militarism is NOT conducive to peace, and that is the basic assumption most European countries operate under.

Not the kind of photos you want for propaganda, considering how easy it is to associate them with child soldiers.

Not sure a "big push" is possible this war.

Getting flashbacks to an enemy machine gun become unhittable due to glitching under the ground in FI... same kind of scenario.

I mentioned this before, but:
In my opinion, in addition to this system, there should be an AI trigger that let's the designer trigger an action for a group once its strength falls below X%. In my view this would make it possible to create drastically more realistic defense missions, where the AI does not automatically go "all in", but pulls back or stops forces once certain casualty rates are reached.

In CMFI the Commonwealth forces usually use the No4 with a scope as a sniper rifle, which was the standard model for most of the war. However, there also is a scoped SMLE in the game, although it looks like it is only used by the Poles (?). I don't think I have ever seen it in British or Canadian hands. Might be an equipment level issue. Thing is: The SMLE sniper rifles from WW1 were apparently scrapped in the 1920s. The only ones used in WW2 were Australian custom made ones, which only started use in 1945 in the Pacific.
Moreover, it seems like the model ingame uses the No32 scope, which could be fitted to the No4 rifle, but not the SMLE:
Instead Commonwealth forces used the WW1 P14 rifles earlier in the war (before the No4). That rifle is already ingame, in use by the French, and could be used to replace the SMLE quite easily, I'd imagine.

He got something out of that deal. Maybe the compromise is that his rivals are being sidelined, but don't step down publically, so that Putin can save some face? Maybe there was a strike planned against him and the Wagner organisation that we are not aware of and that is off the table?

He might end up being right...

That was not used in Normandy.

True, but I am reminded of how in Nazi Germany one of the cliche phrases was "Wenn das der Führer wüsste" - "If only the Führer knew". Because people never associated the corruption and crime of the Nazi regime with Hitler directly. So arguably this could be a move to consolidate power against other elites. That said, I am not really arguing this, just throwing it out. May well be that he feels empowered enough to move into open opposition.

Maybe by stoking fear of a revolution in the middle classes?

It looks like the freedom fighters of Bilhorod Peoples Republic are continuing their offensive and liberating more and more settlements from the Muscovite yoke. If they manage to connect their positions, the newly created frontline will be almost 40km long.
Seriously though, it seems that this hilariousness will continue until Russians bring in some meaningful forces. That kind of seems like an exposed position though, surely they don't have enough forces to hold this kind of territory?

Q-Anon is part of the same cultural tradition that led to the Salem witch hunts and the satanic panic, among other things.

Many of these people must feel silly doing this kind of ceremony in 2023.

Polecats in CM when?

A while back I read that the German marines that defended against the British at the Aller and Weser were actually partly equipped with this unusual gun:
This was the next (and last step) in Germany's quest for making light-weight, high penetration AT guns, after the mid war squeeze bore type projects failed due to missing materials (tungsten). Basically it fired a modified 8cm mortar round at low velocity to knock out tanks with the HEAT principle. It was quite cheap and maneuverable like older, lighter PAK models. Drawback was the relatively low range. Due to the new system, it was not actually called a "PAK", but a "PAW 600" for "Panzerabwehrwerfer".
Not many were made, but in my view it could be a cool addition to the late western front module.

omg.. lets take this the best way possible and not too serious.. you are soooo NOT saying that post WWI Germany was the better one because it offered us great books and games to enjoy.;)
Probably means the Weimar Republic?

The EU does not benefit all of the local elites, which is why they worked towards Brexit in GB. Moving money streams and power back from the EU elites to some of the local ones. For the people on the ground it probably won't be any radical improvement, they are just getting exploited in slightly different ways by slightly different people.

I thought with CMBN out on Steam, it would be a good idea to make a video geared towards new players in order to help out with the basic gameplay.

Note that my production numbers only refer to the scoped version. The unscoped one was first produced in October 43 and was probably in use in Normandy. Apparently there was trouble with getting the scope (ZF4) into mass production.

Interesting new information about Fallschirmjäger ToE in the field in Normandy
in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Posted · Edited by Ts4EVER
Our researcher over at FH2 recently dug up two interesting documents. These are US intelligence reports based on captured documents of the 2nd and 3rd FJG divisions in Normandy, showing their squad loadouts, which differ quite a bit. One little thing of interest: In both divisions, some assistant platoon leaders and one rifleman in (basically) each squad is carrying a "French rifle". I believe that this is a translation error: The Germans sometimes referred to the FG42 as "F-Gewehr" in their reports and I think the Americans, not knowing this obscure gun, mistranslated it.
I don't think I have ever seen the original docs th
is was translated from and was never sure about how FG42s were issued. It seems like the FJG squad of the time had only 1 lmg instead of the 2 the standard ToE assumes, but one was replaced by an FG42. There also was one in the platoon and company HQ. In addition to that, 3rd FJG apparently reported quite a few MP43s even in Normandy.
