  1. I'd just like to say thanks for an excellent peice of kit, it makes H2H alot less complicated. Cheers
  2. I play elite because Iron seems to just be extra hassle rather than extra difficulty. Now if Iron got rid of the info you get when you select enemy units...
  3. I played the battle 'Platoon patrol' earlier today (WEGO, Elite vs AI), I wiped out all of the germans I could find and the game didn't end. I swept the battlefield from end to end and still no surrender. I called a cease fire and the tally said that there were still six uninjured Germans, there were none on the map because I checked. So whats going on, is it a bug or am I missing something?
  4. Thats a great Idea, I think I might try that. Most of the men I lose are to doing stupid things like rushing men at enemy positions and such, it would be a good learining experience to see what the enemy sees when I'm advancing.
  5. The time limit in most of the scenarios is pretty generous. I'm a really slow player, I spend more time scouting than anything else and I always have time on the clock at the end of missions. So don't worry too much about the time limit. But yeah, get ready to lose big time until you've got the hang of the game.
  6. This was in one of the campaign scenarios, you are given two AT guns with 4 rounds each plus two ammo bearer teams with a further three each. This is against an indeterminate amount of armour. One of my guns shot off all four rounds at a squad in one turn, I won the battle but it's still annoying to have the AI waste ammo like that. In general I think the tac AI does a good job, but the rate of fire from some of the units is a bit fast, tanks have this problem too but they generally have enough ammo that its not an issue. A target armour arc would be perfect, I've never played CMx1 so I didn't know that used to be a thing.
  7. Related to this is AT guns firing at infantry instead of conserving their ammo for enemy armour. I play wego and I've watched a gun burn through its entire ammo supply in one turn firing at (and missing) an infantry squad, with me completely unable to stop them. Using short target arcs is a work around but it's not perfect by any stretch, there are too many times when an enemy vehicle is visible in the middle of the turn but has buggered off by the time the turn ends and I can do anything about it. I like the idea for a 'posture' type system, or even just two buttons, one hold fire vs infantry and the other hold fire vs armour. That would cover most situations.
  8. I have to agree with this, CMBN is an excellent game but it's also really hard. The interface is totally servicable once you get used to it but until then it's quite daunting. The tutorial campaigns are a big step up from CMSF, but thats not saying much. I wonder how much new business BF loses by not being very accessible.
  9. Thanks for the link, there's some interesting stuff to look at there. Thanks Thanks for the advice, espescially on the mines, I've played Shockforce but I never knew any of that. For my own contribution, I found an article describing the real life tactics used by the USA during the Normandy campaign. It's probably old news to the veterans around here but for other newcomers it might be interesting. It's called Busting the Bocage, heres the link: www.cgsc.edu/carl/resources/csi/doubler/doubler.asp
  10. Hi folks, I've jut bought CMBN a few days ago and I'm loving it so far but I'm finding it really hard going. I've been lurking the forums for a while and you seem like a friendly bunch so I thought I'd ask some questions. 1. How do you deal with mines? I can't seem to get my engineers to mark them, I only find them when one of my guys explodes. 2. Can a squad get C2 Leadership bonuses from another HQ unit other than its own? For instance, if it shows as out of C2 with it's own HQ but is right next to the company HQ does it get any benefit? 3. If I take heavy casualties (as in a whole platoon of infantry and two tanks in the second mission) in the first few missions on the road to Mountsomewhere campaign, is it worth continuing or should I restart? 4. Is there some sort of strategy guide or tactics forum (I can see one for Shock force but alot of that stuff isn't relevant to WW2) to help a beginner? Thanks for any replies.
  11. I'm a first time PBEM'er but I'd be up for a game. If anyone is looking for an opponent then PM me.
