  1. Artillery was less flexable in ww2 than present day. It should be harder to use and take longer to get rounds on target.(and subtract all the different munitons you have present today). - US artillery doctrine was the best (the Brits copied it for their use late in the war 43>). -German doctrine was ok just its effective use deterorated fast as the war progressed (most of it was horse drawn). -Russian artillery doctrine though good in the beginning the disasters of Barbarossa in 41 distroyed most of the arm and it never really recovered until the very end of the war. Yes Russian prebombardments could be devastating and were used to great effect but the artillery arm lacked flexability. They where not short of tubes just effective ways to use them due to lack of trained artillery spotters and reliable radios. I always felt that CM1 was way to generous with the Russian arty spotters but I can see some game balance issues there. Its going to be fun to see how that all works in CM2 in the east front modules.
  2. The Pumas....The Pumas I thought they where all out east. No more than 50 of them made anyway so they should be REALLY rare in the west theater. Bet there where more Panards in Normandy than Pumas.
  3. Humm ...I thought this thread was CN2bn? the fancy munitions are the ww2 90mm AAA with the radar fuses used at Elsinborne Ridge. Lets stay on subject
  4. Armor losses by indirect fire durring the second world war certainly did happen. Lighter vehicals where more vulnerable but even the heavys if they where taking large cal HE could still be knocked out. Suspention damage means inmobility thats as good as a knock out (you did not have to be hit just in the top armor). Artillery... is a stinky kettle of fish in a game Table top or on a computer. If every time I played axis in a game and my tanks are blasted by P47s and Typhoons or pounded to scrap by 8inch HE. That can make you toss a set of rules or delete a game off the hard drive. None of us will play a game where out comes are always the same there is no fun in that. And we are talking about a game so that means balancing the play ability and realism. I never had any problems with the artillery in CM1. I am sure it will be ok in CM2BN.
