  1. Hi,

BTW... am planning to use Geccos, Generic Campaign Control System by a very cunning Norwegian called Pal Woje. He very generously produces free mapping and tracking software for these types of games.

    All the best,

    Kip.

Thank you Kip, glad you like it! :D The new version now include Range circles and the posibility to import your own images for units. You'll find the download link on the CMMC4 forum mentioned above, or send me a PM and I'll email you the link.

  2. CMMC: Combat Mission Meta Campaign. Current installment is CMMC4 which is just starting up. The forum is here: http://cmmc.org.uk/Forum

What the term "Meta" means in this concept is something you must ask someone who has English as their first langauage. :P I do believe it has something to do with "massive", or "huge" or "overall" or sumfink. My translater just translate Meta with Meta... :D

CMMC4 is still in the planning stage, so I am not sure how much info I can reveal at this moment (I'm a GM or Game Master but only for the support tool Geccos), but it will not use CMBN.

The strategic layer is handled outside the CM games which are used to resolve actual battles. The GMs then handle the strategic part to ensure fog of war for the players on that level. I.e. all (most?) players control some part of the forces on the strategic map, and when a battle occure between opposing forces the GMs create the scenario in CM and send it to the players who will do the actual playing/fighting.

  3. ...Were there any files in particular that you wanted? Just wondering because there's something like 40MB of files in total.

Any chance of hosting those files on an ftp server (or such)? I'd like to take a look at them as well. I tried to make a helicopter and it didn't turn out very nice. :)

  4. Sorry to hear that Brit. Your support so far has been superb! :)

The BIG question is will you fix the "all seeing AI?" This is a HUGE bug.

Well, it's not a bug. It's a design compromice and to be honest it seems you have an ... well, almost obsessive compulsion about it and I quite frankly don't understand it, but to each his own I guess.

I still very much enjoy this game whether I play against the AI or my friends. :D

  5. I had one occurrence of the bug where aircraft didn't return home after an attack, yesterday. It was the AI who either attacked one of my columns (I love that AI use aircrafts now, by the way!), or reacted to one of my air strikes. The AI aircrafts seemed to be indecisive as to whether it should pursue my strike, or bomb the column. It kind of flew back and forth between the two groups, and by the end of the turn it parked on top of my ground units. The next turn it flew back to town.

I sadly forgot to make a copy of the save file, but I'll make one if it happens again.

  6. Yeah, I placed my wote on the tac AI as well. :)

...I do wonder how many people are actively using the editor and how many players are taking advantage of the stuff they are making....

When the game was being developed, I thought that the editor would be one of it's greates features, but to be honest I still have way to much fun playing the regular game against the AI and/or friends on the net, to be putting much effort into the other stuff.

Still, the editor will most probably mean that the game will stay fresh and fun in the forseeable future.

  7. When you get transport ships to work it's extremely efficient! E.g. you can sail into port A, pick up units 2 and 3 (in addition to unit 1 which is already on board) and then drop them off (and have them move on) at different locations without any additional orders. :)

  8. Either the files are saved on a corrupt sector of the hard drive (unlikely since it's both files), or there is a bug in the code. I'm sure Brit can help. You should also use the in-game error reporting tool to alert him about this.
