  1. Great news! Many thanks to Battlefront. Have been awaiting this since it was announced. Certainly a day 1 buy for me - Pity it's not in time for Christmas, but it'll give me time to keep playing Centauro. Piecekeeper - I agree, i liked the improvements made in ToW 2 but i missed the nice green landscapes from ToW 1. This should be a great combination of the two .
  2. Yes, Piecekeeper - The mod has now been updated to work with Centauro, not sure on the status of the original mod though..There only seems to be the one on the provided site. I suppose people will have to download the mod via the battlefront repository (if it's there) or one of the other sites it was uploaded to (mentioned earlier in this thread) instead.
  3. Hmm, you have a point there, i just had a quick skim through the dev notes, and while they mention alot of interesting features, i don't think i saw them once say "we will be adding..." - Having only played the demo (and not for long) most of these features may already be in the game without me knowing. It would be nice to get a list of what's being added/changed/fixed - But i am sure that will come later down the track. Either way, i still think it would be wise to show that it's a different game..Provided there are infact alot of important changes.
  4. Just a quick question. Will Battlefront be changing the name in anyway? I only ask because as the game has already been released in a few places, and has already been given some fairly poor reviews (but i think for good reason, having played the demo myself). If the new and improved game is released with the same title it may simply be ignored by those who had read a review or played on the older version. Not to mention the confusion it will create with the general public who don't visit forums and want to buy the game, they may wind up buying the wrong one and giving more unfavourable reviews (unless it'll be removed from stores/sites upon the release from battlefront?) It sounds like it's shaping up to be a great game, and judging by battlefront's previous work it should live up to the expectations, so i think it should be given a chance with it's own name, or atleast "Battlefront Presents - PT boats: Knights of the sea" . Just a thought.
  5. Broadsword - Yes i am well aware that the landscape is not as realistic as it could be. I have also downloaded your map and i can see the difference, but that's not really the point of my comment, i think you may have just taken the last sentence out of context. Sorry that you thought i was being serious, it was meant to be more of a cheeky comment regarding the sand being annoying. The "accurate to what they had to endure" line was just nicer than saying "i absolutely hate the sandy landscape and it's a pain to look at for hours on end"... One of the downsides to text, can't convey a tone of voice with ease. Though i thought the tongue sticking out at the start of the sentence would of given it away.. Thanks for the pic and explanation though. (and for the map )
  6. No you don't need ToW 2 installed - The games are entirely separate in that respect. They will install into different directories on your computer, and you don't need one to play the other. Same goes for the full version of ToW 2: Kursk. Centuro, on the otherhand, has been announced to be an add-on for ToW 2. So you will need ToW 2 before installing Centauro. This is because Centauro remains in the North African campaign so it will use similar units/maps etc...Whereas Kursk takes the battle to, well, Kursk.
  7. Well, they are related in the sense that they come from the same franchise/developers. However, no they are separate games. Just as ToW 1 and ToW 2 are separate. The way i see Kursk is, it's ToW 2 graphics/engine/details/features, but with the much more appealing scenery from ToW 1 Sure the North Africa setting was probably accurate to what the armies had to endure, but it does get dull looking at all that damn sand...
  8. Thanks for the update Moon. Glad i stopped relying on 1C release dates, they always seem a bit off. Will we be seeing Kursk before 2010 too? Or should i take it off my Christmas wish list?
  9. Q1 is the first quarter. This would be the first 3 months of the year, Jan, Feb and March. Q2 being the next 3, and so on.
  10. I'm not sure if it will help, it's just the typical steps people are told to try for a non-working game on Windows 7: - Make sure you are running the game as the Administrator, with full rights/privileges. - Try running the program under different operation systems - Right-click to open the file and go to the compatibility tab and change it to Vista/XP and try those. I just recently got a new computer and also upgraded to Windows 7 (64-bit) and the game runs flawlessly, however i can't say if what i mentioned above was required... It has just become a habit to change compatibility after installing on Windows 7, as alot of (mostly older) games won't run without doing so.
  11. I'd have to disagree with implementing this pre-release. (Unless of course it's a relatively simple project, in which case, go for it ). But if it'd be time consuming then please leave this feature for a patch later on down the track. I would say there aren't very many people with a set-up as intense as yours Butch - Of that (already small) percentage, i would wager an even smaller % would be interested in this game. So i don't think it would benefit them to put too much time into adding things such as Triple screen gaming when the majority of their users wouldn't have any use for such a feature. Considering they have many bugs to fix and more pressing issues to deal with i would rather they ignore pointless features such as this until the game is atleast playable. Perhaps it'd be a nice addition to the expansion, but currently it's not even been released by BF So let them fix the game before they make it look "pretty".
  12. Thankfully they didn't change the layout of buttons around, so this should be playable even though i don't understand Russian. Thanks for the update Panzer.
  13. I can confirm that this isn't present in the full version of the game. Though if i had played the demo and seen that i'd be asking questions too.
  14. An add-on has already been announced. http://en.akella.com/News.aspx?id=655 Will Battlefront be working with Akella for this game?
  15. Arzok - Try their homepage http://wio.ru/strat/tow2.htm It seems they have added it there now too. But for some reason the rapidshare file is "balance_mod129.exe" and on wio it's "balance13.exe". Is there actually a difference? Or just a different file name?
  16. Ahh i did suspect it was only meant for historic battles, just didn't have the time to read up before setting up the OOB or starting positions. Though considering the limited # of maps for random battles, i think this could still be used just to throw together a quick battle. I will set it up again over the weekend using your suggestions and let ya know how it goes.
  17. Yes Broadsword your instructions are correct. Just put it in the map folder and make a battle with the generator. I checked this out lastnight, threw together a quick battle with fairly equal forces. (playing as Germany though, it's just so much more fun ) One thing i did notice is the ground is very flat, not sure if this was done to be as accurate as possible but the result was an instant battle. As soon as the map loaded i could see 3 enemy vehicles, after moving a couple of tanks to slightly higher ground i had the entire enemy force covered, then just flanked them with my 2 remaining tanks. Still great fun though, and i do think that my infantry had a better chance of surviving with all the little patches of grass scattered around. The map is larger than the game will allow you to play with, so i wasn't entirely sure which area to designate as the "play area" which might of been the reason for the easy visability. I guess we'll have to wait for a user made scenario that makes the most out of the map, it certainly has potential.
  18. Well i'm glad my mind wasn't playing tricks on me - Still a bit confused as to how the mod was made for Centauro, thought maybe a few people were lucky enough to already have a copy. Good to know the mod is ready for when it does get released though. Thanks for posting the update for the original game St Andrey, will have to check this out tonight.
  19. Okay forgive me for the possibly stupid question - But how is this intended for a game that isn't released yet? Also, why is it not available for the original ToW 2? Would it just take too much time to make the changes for the original as well as the expansion? I was actually holding off installing this because i was hoping the Churchill would be added in the next update. But if we have to wait for Centauro before this patch works then i'll have to wait even longer. I prefer to finish the game "as is" before trying out mods. All that aside, thanks for continuing with this project Really aren't enough mods out there for this great game. EDIT - Um, i could of sworn there was a big post regarding the latest 1.3 version update? Was i imagining it?...
  20. Cheers for fixing the link Moon. I have to agree that the standard missions in ToW 2 don't really offer much protection for infantry. Hopefully they survive a bit longer here, i'll report back after i've checked it out. Thanks again, looking forward to more maps.
  21. Thanks Broadsword, I had spotted the topic you posted a while ago asking for technical advice and was hoping that someone was able to help. Always looking forward to playing new maps/missions. Plus I need something to keep me occupied until Centauro/Kursk are finished. Unfortunately that link doesn't appear to be working, I get this error: 550 CDW faild. "/africa_el_guettar_23mar43.492.rar": directory not found.
  22. Turn the "smart pause" option off in the setup utility (options.exe).
  23. The manuals, scenario builder and basic manual, are located in the "Manuals" folder inside the game directory (where the game is installed). I don't think there was an option to select whether or not you wanted them installed so they should both be there.
  24. Thanks for the reply Wargo. Good to know it can be unlicensed, i was fairly confident that i was allowed to install it more than once but just didn't want to risk it. Appreciate the quick response.
  25. Sorry for the possibly stupid question - But i saw no answer elsewhere. Can this be installed on more than one computer? If not, can the license be deactivated (and program uninstalled) so it can be re-installed on a new computer?
