  1. Isn't constitutional law what really matters for presidential candidates? How can Obama have no experience if he was a professor of constitutional law and wrote for the Harvard Law Review? Has there ever been such a gap between the level of intelligence between the candidates?
  2. No nation under the current devolution type governments could pull off invading and occupying Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan and still maintain a normal standard of living for its people. Besides, the physical and physiological problems would automatically disqualify probably 3/4 of draftable 18-25 year-olds.
  3. Who has contempt for these *******s endangering other motorists? Why is this race even allowed? And whatever happened to that guy who killed 2 people in Macedonia? Did he get away scot-free like the wikipedia article suggests? What would you do if some rich ******* killed your grandparents in a race, and then fled the country?
  4. Great holy armies shall be gathered and trained to fight all who embrace evil. In the name of God, ships shall be built to carry the warriors out among the stars and we will spread Origin to all the unbelievers. The power of the Ori will be felt far and wide and the wicked shall be vanquished. Hallowed are the Ori.
  5. Does Pallin give any kind of discourse on why God ordered the Iraq war? I really would like to know her logic. What are the propositions? Are there this? 1. There is a God 2. There is an Iraq 3. God doesn't like evil 4. Iraq is evil 5. America is good 6. Pallin and her people are good too 7. God likes good people 8. Good should attack evil 9. Hallowed are the Americans who attack evil This is how her argument went? If not, then what are the reasons?
  6. What the hell is a civilian national security force? Do other nations have them? If so, what purposes do they serve? Suddenly, voting for the apocalyptic McCain doesn't seem like such a bad idea.
  7. After seeing Tropic Thunder I wondered just how messed up the film industry really is. Anyone know when the movie studios started taking an 80 percent cut in ticket sales? Why are 'independent' films so hard to find on the big screen? Could a theater owner easily lease an independent film, or is it on some long waiting list? Why aren't there well known coops in the movie theater industry? For instance, why couldn't a bunch of avant-garde professors in artsy stuff have their own theater? Is the cost of a theater really that high?
  8. BigDuke, how likely is it that Georgia will gain admittance to NATO? Isn't this the obvious step for the powers against Russia? What use would the Russian military have if Ukraine and Georgia are admitted into NATO? France and Germany obviously don't want them to, but how much do they really matter anyway?
  9. Russia in the end can only lose, as all Georgia has to do is gain admission to NATO. Once this happens, no more Russian aggression on its neighbors. So, in the end, Russia won't even be considered a regional power. Isn't this going to be decided in December, the whole NATO new member thing? So talk about the Cold War 2.0 is nonsensical if Georgia and Ukraine are accepted into NATO.
  10. According Nash's game, "F**k You Buddy", order is only possible when th motives for wars/everyday life are selfish. So, if Russia truly invaded Georgia because of some 50,000 recent Russian passport holders, then mathematically, more chaos is ahead of us. Hopefully, Russia invaded because of the pipeline in Georgia or some other selfish reason. If not, then more trouble?
  11. First, you must acquire her haplogroup. Secondly, why would a woman want to celebrate a culture/religion that was extremely oppressive against women and humanity in general?
  12. Wow, the news coverage on this war sucks. In the grand scheme of things, this little conflict is way more important than last years Israeli war with the Hezzies, yet no good coverage! And wouldn't you think the folks at CNN or BBC would get a heads up for these kinds of wars? Predictions, anyone? My guess is Russia will occupy all of Georgia and screw around with the pipeline.
  13. I wonder how long this whole invasion thing was in the works. How could Georgia not see this coming? If they did, they would've not sent 2,000 troops to Iraq, unless, of course, they thought the U.S. would some how feel obligated to help out an ally for helping out in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Why is Georgia still leaving 1,000 troops in Iraq? Are they that confident in winning? And I'm still perplexed on the lack of coverage on this invasion/war. Here we have a major superpower invading a U.S. ally, yet other stories such as political affairs are more important? Very strange indeed!
  14. No so much news coverage on this little war. And little is mentioned about U.S. Military involvement in Georgia...strange. Maybe it means Georgia is going to be left to defend herself? It's going to be interesting to see how the 2,000 Georgian troops in Iraq will play out. Considering how small the Georgian Military is, they will have to leave as soon as possible, right? I'm assuming that the uniforms were supplied by the U.S. Military. Why do they resemble so much the USMC camouflage pattern?
  15. Wasn't there a training exercise by the U.S. Military a few weeks ago in Georgia? I wonder if they are still there.
  16. Why hasn't the USN developed a system to defend against swarms of low-tech speedboats? How many rounds can a Phalanx hold? How long does it take to reload? Could the USN really fend off, say, a few thousand low tech Iranian speedboats?
  17. How important is adding lemongrass in a Thai curry? Always trying to avoid eating lemongrass can be a pain when eating; and it can hurt when eating in a hurry.
  18. After looking at some Thai red curry recipes I found out that using a vitamix wouldn't be so useful. It's strange because when I used to order Thai food for delivery I would get a plastic container which was mostly a thick liquid with sliced vegetables and chicken. I would've thought a vitamix would be useful, at least for the liquid. Here's a typical recipe for Thai Red Curry HEAT the oil in a large saucepan over a medium heat and cook the onion for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. ADD the curry paste and garlic and cook, stirring, for a minute. ADD the coconut milk, stock, fish sauce, sugar and salt, then bring to the boil. ADD the red pepper and zucchini, cover with a lid, then reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 12 minutes. WHILE the curry simmers, cook the rice. ADD the chicken to the curry and simmer, covered, for a further 8 minutes. ADD the cornstarch paste and stir continuously until the curry thickens, then stir in the lemon juice and basil. SERVE on a bed of rice. Could you dry chop the onion, zucchini, red pepper on high for 1-2 sec with the pieces being large enough? I've tried this already with red cabbage and red bell pepper for a coleslaw, and they became too small. Would it be wise to put the curry paste, garlic, coconut milk, vegetable stock, fish sauce, and sugar into the vitamix? Besides the garlic being chopped very well, what benefit would there be when compared to just putting them into a regular pot? In the end I'm going to have to use a pot for letting the chopped veggies/meat or tofu simmer with the liquid. If I added tofu, would it have to be baked prior to letting it simmer with the rest? So far, I'm finding that my vitamix is mainly for salad dressings and blended salads. The soups have been more misses than hits.
  19. So it's been about 4 months since I bought the Keurig Coffee machine; and so far it's the best coffee machine I ever used. What other sub $200 machine rivals this? Anyone else have a Keurig?
  20. The movie needed more Joker philosophy. You know, more Socratic cross-examination stuff. And the violence needed to be more gory, something like Saw. Quickly cutting away after someone has been shot takes away the shock. The movie could've been more thrilling; it turned out to be rather boring.
  21. But can you guarantee H.P Lovecraft creatures won't come out of the other dimension?
  22. Nobody has ever created a minuscule black hole, so who knows what will happen. Maybe I should schedule my vacation days within the next few months?
  23. But I've read the link in the original post. The article fails to ask why the bankers refused to give out loans to the nuclear companies. It's widely known that nuclear only exists because of of government subsidies, at least in the U.S. Why did all the major utility companies add wind power rather than nuclear? They aren't stupid or easily pressured; and if they saw nuclear power as a better option, they would go for it. I'm not an expert on energy sources, but simply following the trends of utility companies tells you that nuclear power has no future. Would it be accurate to say that nuclear power is more popular in Europe because of more government intervention? There are studies from hundreds of professors, all of which have conflicting views on nuclear power, so it makes it hard for average joe to decide on which authority he wants to follow.
  24. This may seem crazy, but maybe the reason why there was a push for nuclear energy was because of the need for weapons materials during the cold war. Now, the only possible way for the nuclear companies to exist is to take money from taxpayers. The bankers from London and New York won't touch nuclear for good reasons.
  25. Oshkosh truck makes stuff mainly for the military, so I'd imagine the cost and manufacturing capabilities were good enough for the DOD. This new hybrid HEMITT can carry a load of 13 tons, so the power is there. This could easily be transfered over to the commercial truck industry for the LTL companies. 26,000 pounds is pretty light for groceries, as the average is between 34-38 thousand, but all it means is making more runs per delivery.
