  1. depends on terrain open fields usually requires me to use overwatch with a platoon of inf. with Jav missile launchers to counter tank threats, everyone else covers the open terrain in hunt, if threat is high and contact is likely, all squads are dismounted, but strykers lead the advance as they're invulnerable to small arms an usually the slat armor helps against the RPG threat. Here's when things get really tricky. Urban settings... The problem here is this: slat armor protects the stryker from most RPGs but the slat armor doesnt cover the entire vehicle. thus, if an RPG team is in a position where it can shoot DOWNWARD and avoid the slat armor, even light RPGs can kill a stryker, so, the doctrine is this: Infantry leads by using bounding movements, usually platoon watches over platoon and at the same time secure both sides of the road the strykers are to move down, and at the same time watching for IEDs. But this is only when I need to get the strykers into more "favorable" terrain. otherwise, if its simply house to house battle, I don't even bring them into the city unless the Infantry is running low on ammo, cause if I carelessly get a stryker blown up, then I loose the ammo inside too, which is useful in drawn out battles. if there is a break in cover within the city, then smoke from the strikers help provide concelement
  2. at the top of the list (when you click on the 'Aquire' button) there is an item called, 'Javalin launcher' or something like that... the missile and the launcher that fires the missles are two seperate items that are both needed to fire missiles
  3. so there should be no changes to the games representation of snipers and their accuracy and engagement range? but its hard to watch a vet sniper shoot 5 clips of ammo and not hit a damn thing. even a still unsuspecting target...
  4. the point I'm making is that snipers should be MUCH more effective than represented in the game currently... also, feel free to watch the entire 5 series. its really interesting.
  5. last one I swear.. just trying to make a point.
  6. watch it, you'll see the situation through my eyes. If a sniper rifle can take out mortar crews, it could take out ATGM crews.
  7. aw... didnt have to put it that way... anyhow, I'd like to at least see them try... and besides, it shouldn't take 5 CLIPS of ammunition to kill 1 guy... the Barrett M107 .50 Caliber sniper rifle can effectively shoot targets up to 1 mile away, but my sniper team equipped with that gun didn't even try to shoot at a target that was 300 meters... gotta soften up those ATGMs for crying out loud they're ripping me apart...
  8. there is also sensors inside the missle that will tell the CLU computer to deny launch if there isn't enough room to fire, I.E. the window sill
  9. whats interesting about the Jav, is that it has that "soft launch"... (you know, when you see the Jav, pop out of the tube before flying away?) the ability that propels the missle away from the lauch tube before turning on its main propulsion system. This was created so that the back blast is toned to a minimum at the inital launch and allows the missle as much room away from the original firing position as possible so that it wouldn't hit the overhangs of any buildings. I've seen the Jav been fired from the first floor of a 6 story building, but I should say that having Jav crews on the first floor of buildings is rather dumb... as you want to give them as much of a view of the battlefield to allow immediate engagement to threats that might otherwise be hidden from a view of the first floor.. PHew... hands hurt..
  10. oh, and when the sniper does shoot, his aim is terrible, you gotta give snipers their one shot one kill credibility just like in the real world... going through 5 clips of ammo just to kill one unsuspecting soldier just feels wrong on so many levels.
  11. I thought that increased wind effected accuracy for most weapons, especially RPGs...
  12. I hear that the 50 Cal sniper rifle developed by Berretta can effectively hit targets over a mile away... however my sniper squads don't seem to want to fire at completely vulnerable targets at the range of 700 meters. The enemy's in the open and the sniper's got plenty of ammo, and both the enemy and the sniper are standing still, and worst of all, that ATGM crew managed to shoot (and kill) 5 of my Strykers... lucky no one was inside but the unfortunate crews... (I have tried manual targeting, both heavy and light, nothing happens)
  13. Is the adjust fire button going to work in v. 1.03? and the demo charges too?
  14. so I guess that the whole shoot while moving is off, thought taking cover and shooting back should be a priority to the tacAI in all combat situations...
  15. after playing around, yes, it seems that hunt is a good indoor, close combat order, although it is annoying how the move order is cancelled once contact is made, which means that even if the threat is neutrilized or breaks, they dont move again for the rest of that turn.
  16. 1:02 - 1:10 When I'm talking about "firing on the move" I'm not talking about John Woo films, going at a a**-tearing sprint and doing cartwheels while mowing down dozens of enemies with a M249 but similar to this example where you need to be ready to fire at the enemy while moving from point a to b...
  17. well, alternatively, the tacAI could be tweaked to stop and return fire immediately should a new threat appear suddenly while moving to another location in close quarters... but I know its a lot more complicated than that.
  18. look, i'm just making a point. if the discussion of running while shooting is ticking you off, just calm down.
  19. and even if you wern't taught in basic training, that doesnt mean that you will never, absolutely, positively, never ever ever do that...
  20. but still, its not physically impossible to shoot while moving, and if 5 of my squad mates gets shot while we're moving from building to building, anyone would want to shoot back, even if they're running.
  21. And I dont see what the problem is, its physically possible to shoot a gun while running. The point here is not accuracy as it is understandable that you'll be quiet inaccurate. but the point is that your shooting to suppres the enemy to prevent them from getting a clear shot at you...
  22. no, i had 2 strykers provide covering fire, but as they move from one floor to another, they always pass the enemy on that floor instead of blasting them while moving... Not to mention that when suppresive fire isnt enough, they get creamed instead of adding on the the volume of fire by shooting on the move
