  1. everyone seems to have much success in killing T-90s with precision rounds. I find they are useful in degrading the tank's system, immobilizing them and the odd weapon hit .. but killing them outright ? not often. Anyway there seems to be disagreement on how thick is the armor on the top of T-90s and T-72B3s.

You can destroy T-90AMs at 3000 meters ?

Russians, bah.. pushovers like all the rest for some people it seems when playing the US LOL I would not base my jugdment on what would happen in real life on that though.

I shwack t-90s with precision rounds quite regularly.  Spot them with your FO, make the call with 2 guns so you have 2 rounds coming in.  If the first doesn't kill them the second one right behind it almost always will.  I would estimate a 90%-95% kill rate doing this.

  2. +1 to Elite - it also adds less information for you about the enemy. You cannot tell the difference between a scout team, a LMG team or regular infantry (unless you actually see and analyses the equipment but the UI shows less and the icons are generic infantry icons.

I'm not Chris but I can give you a definitive answer: the timing of indirect fire and CAS goes both ways.

Then it is decided!  I shall now only play CM on Elite!!!

From this day forth let it be known that xIGuNDoCIx has graduated to Big Boy Pants and no longer requires the use of Training Wheels!!!!   ;)   (Seriously Thanks CM Community and keep these stories coming!)

  3. Is there a way to view the kill totals for Artillary/CAS units like you can for your normal on map units at the end of each scenario?  If not, then why not show them under whomever called for the CAS/Fire Mission?  I noticed that my JTACs/FOs, etcs never have any "kills" even when I know that they were the ones responsible for their respective CAS/Arty calls.

My guys with their maps and phones are getting unruly and feeling under appreciated in the AAR.  Battlefront please help!   :P

  4. I do recommend playing on 'elite', it provides the most realistic time delays for fire/air support, etc, without the annoyingly realistic spotting (mainly for friendly units) rules in effect.

But still, it seemed you used excellent combined arms tactics. Plus the enemy is basically just coming at you in an old fashion Soviet-style 'echelon' attack. I'd expect similar results in real life actually.

I just may do that.  I have always played the CM games on "Veteran" without any thought  just because well that's what I am used to playing it on.   :)   Quick question though, is the time delay for fire/CAS go both ways for the Player and the AI?

  5. Just finished the first mission of the US Campaign and it was possibly the best game of CM I think I have ever had (outcome wise)!  I think I may replay it again just to see if my initial strategy was really that sound or if my victory was just a fluke.  Only 2 friendly KIA, that can't be right!   :D   Thanks for the fantastic game Battlefront!!!!  I would also love to hear all of your stories about your stellar victories or shameful defeats so get to posting!

  6. Part Nine:

The left flank is about to fold!!!

During these few turns the Russians attack our weakened left flank with several APCs + INF!!! They cut our forces in half and separate 1st SQD/B Team from our main defense line. The rest of our forces on the hill are ordered to fall back to the village. Our AH-64E Apache gunships are on station and beginning to do their best to ensure our safety.

If our relief force does not show up soon I think that we will not be able to hold onto the left flank. Things are looking rather grim for NATO at this time.

  7. Part Eight:

    So far so good!

The Russians are starting to concentrate forces on both flanks in order to make a push in the coming turns. I whittle down their APCs with Javelin and large caliber sniper fire.

The clock is ticking and I'm am starting to wonder where our Ukrainian relief force is. Our casualty rate is pretty low so far, a few WIA and maybe 2-3 KIA. I just hope I have men left to relieve when they decide to show up!

  8. Part Seven:

I continue to re-deploy my troop in preparation of the Russian assault that is starting to form on both the left and right flank/bridges. I get confirmed contacts of APCs on our side of the river so the Russians now have a foothold and will attempt to exploit it.

On the plus side my 155mm artillery rounds begin to fall on the heads of the unlucky Russians crossing on the right flank. Hopefully it is enough to stall/stop their advance and buy me some time to readjust and redeploy. Also my sniper team with the M107 .50 cal sniper rifle starts to give the Russians another problem as he begins to get penetrating hits on several APCs!

  9. Part Six:

Fall back!!! Again the Russians make advances across the river but we are holding strong and redeploying to better combat the Red Threat. My troops are moving to their secondary defensive positions and resupplying with what they will need in the coming minutes of battle.

SPC MacCain in his Hummer also goes to work with his M2 50 Cal and knocks out an ENY APC while pinning an ENY SQD on Bridge Charlie 5. I guess those longs days/nights on the range paid off!

  10. The Russian advance continues and I take my first casualties. My small squad of Engineers on the left flank are lit up by an ENY APC's 30mm cannon and get beat up pretty bad. I think their only saving grace was the fact that they were in a building which provided them some much needed hard cover. The Russians are also mobilizing more APCs on my right flank in what appears to be a river crossing! I am starting to think I'm about to become the victim of a classic pincer move! Only time will tell and hopefully my boys can hold out!

  11. This is the same exact mission I fired up when I got the game.  I am only into the first 10 minutes of the game but I have scored 2 APC kills (AT4 and a Jav), and wrecked an HQ and Sniper team trying to cross Bridge Charlie 6.  My right flank so far has been uneventful other than ENY arty dropping well ahead of my troops and my own arty needing adjusting.  I did kill a RPG team in the NE woods on the far bank of the river with my Sniper team positioned in the large 4 story building near the NATO map edge.

So far I am really loving CM:BS and can't wait to see how the rest of the mission plays out.
