HI If I remember right you can UNZIP into any folder (or desktop) you like. Once unzipped - you will see that it has it's own "INSTALL" routine - you then just have to specify where you have installed TOW on your computer. Regards, TS

I think the main problem with a lot of the scenarios is that the "battle end conditions" require that EVERY enemy unit be destroyed. This is indeed very frustrating when you are trying to chase the last man down to end the battle. I have begun to edit the "Trigger Configuration" file (script file) for a scenario. There are some "key" conditional commands that can be easily modified to end the scenario when only a certain number of enemy troops or vehicles are left. See below for example: Initially the script code may look complicated - but it really isn't too bad when you do a few. ****************************************************************** *The following command tells the TOW engine to get the total number of enemy troops *still alive (foot soilders, tank crew etc). ****************************************************************** SET @humans = GetNUnits ( ARMY , @enemy_army , HUMAN , CREW ) ****************************************************************** *The following commands - IF...Then... condition will check to see if 4 or less enemy *troops are left - IF SO - the game will end with a "Mission Win" - IF NOT the game *continues. ****************************************************************** IF ( @humans < 5 ) THEN DestroyTriggerInstance ( "_Mission_Fail_Attack" , @army ) MissionWin ( ) HALT End If The above script code will avoid that "long drawn out" final minutes of an obvious win scenario. You can of course replace the value 5 with any value you wish. A good way to start to learn the scripting commands is to look at the Trigger Config file in the one of the TOW single_mission scenario folders. Sneaksie/Gnasher: I followed Sneaksie's advice - uninstalled the Bulldogs MOD and re-installed it. It is working fine now - not sure what happened the first time - but I can now enjoy the Mod. Thanks to all. Tom

Hi Gnasher: Thanks for the great TOW campaign. I am anxious to play - however when I select the 1st battle - I get a "CTD". I have TOW patched to 1.10.0.81 and JSH 1.2.2. Any suggestions. Thanks again Tom Sims

Hi - I have made some scenarios for TOW - but a question - as far as I can tell - there is NO way to include a scenario description for scenarios that are posted on CMMODS etc. that will show up in the BATTLES LIST when you start TOW. The scenario name/description seems to be in a file called "texts" in the root of SINGLE_MISSIONS. This file has to have two entries (a name and a description) to show up in the Battles list when TOW is running. When you download a scenario - your host "texts" file obviously does not contain the newly downloaded scenario - so it will never show up with a "true description". Am I right on this? It would be so much better to have TOW read an external text file (containing a description) similar to RTW and MTW2 - this would help set the proper "mode". Thoughts??????????

Problem Solved.

Just some new information on my problem - if I DON'T install the JSH 1.2.1 mod - I don't have the CTD problem. I did NOT install the previous versions - is the 1.2.1 version "culmulative" or do I need to install the previous versions first? Yankee1950

Hi - I had to re-install TOW after getting a new rig. I applied the "uber patch" and the JSH Mod 1.2. When I load any single battle I now get a crash to desktop - BUT if a play a campaign or any single battle from a campaign - I have NO Prob. Really weird - Any advice would be welcomed. Yankee1950

Schrullenhaft: You did it!!!! I checked out mu video card's OPENGL compatibility - it is 2.0 compatible. But your post about the opening movie made me think - I simply renamed the movie avi file - started the game and it went straight to the opening menu with NO PROBLEMS. Thanks again - Happy New Year. Thanks Schrullenhaft I purchased CMSF from Gamersgate - I assume this is the Paradox version. I will run the OPENGL compatibilty tests that you mentioned and will post the results. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post. Right before my system reboots I do get a small screen - it becomes filled with green squares - which is what makes me fill this is a video problem - do you know if I can change a parameter to "NOT show" the opening movie? I recently purchased CMSF after downloading and installing (without issues) I started the game - I received a blank screen and my system re-booted. I have tried many time always the same results. DLL (dynamic load library) file is a usually in "hex" format (program file). You normally do not edit this type of a file, but if you must look for a "Hex" editor on the web - there are many free ones out there.

Rapier: I ran across this information on the TOW website - I tried the EXE they talk about (see below) and I have been playing the 1st scenario for the Moscow Campaign for over 30 mins now. It appears to work - it is the patch WITHOUT THE DUAL CORE FIXES. If this patch version exhibits frequent crashes or lockups, while in the past you did not encounter them, we have included a special .exe version which does not include the same performance updates, but includes all the other items listed above. To launch this special version of the game, browse to your game folder and double-click on the file name "ToW_1.4.exe". That will launch a version of the game that has all of the same fixes listed above EXCEPT for the new performance/stability tweaks. Tom

Rapier: I have tried all of the suggested actions - no EAX, lower detail on video (no shadows) etc. also not having anything else running while running TOW - still get the random HANG. I'll let you know if I run across any fix - please do the same. Tom

Hi I always had a "random" problem with TOW all of a sudden "hanging" (TOW Not Responding) in Task Manager. Applied the new patch (hoping that would address the issue) - but I just started to replay the German Campign - and experienced another "hang" after 15 mins of play. Any ideas? System config: ASUS P4S800 Mo Bo with Intel P4 2.8 Hypertheading, with 2 GBs RAM & 6499 Mbs setup as virtual memory. Nvidia 7800 Geoforce with 256 MB FPS is Good - no other issues. Thanks
