To bring it back OT, will the Syrian army have short range AA available to counter the air support? Like shoulder launched SAMs, AAA and Shilkas?
-
I sure you can see dead tanks in CMAK, I called in some arty and a bunch of abandoned tanks just appeared out of nowhere.
-
So I'm guessing this is set after the Air battle is decided and the Syrian air force didn't win.
Oh well I guess I can always set up a blue on blue scenario if I want equal forces.
-
I found a post saying that the Syrians only have artillery support, why not air support as well?. It's not like they don't have their own air force. Did some further reading and found they have a complement of 50 Mig-29s so they're a match for any NATO fighters. The rest are dated Migs which might still have some use. They also have a completment of Mi-24s and other fast attack helicopters so they've got good helicopter support aswell.

Well to offer some defense on the games behalf. You can see destroyed or dead units that were hidden before in all the CM and CC games.
-
I thought the internal modeling in the buildings was for when the building was blown up. You can look at it then.
On the topic of add-ons, these "moduals" for CM:SF I'm guessing they won't be free?
-
Interestingly in CM:BB I've seen point blank PzIVC shots just ricochet off the side and rear of a T34. Then the T34 will just turn around and slug them, their curved armor gives them up to 90mm thickness. The gun on the PzIVC is quite awful at taking out T34s or better, you need PzIVGs or Flak88s to tackle them.
-
They should be captured in tga format so you just need a tga converter!
-
What was going on in the video? Were they training or something? If that was a real target (with people in it) why were they randomly shooting and cheering?
-
Yes you can group your units to the hot keys but that won't tell you what their doing or how hurt they are at a glance. Also you have to set it up and remember what unit you bound to which key. This way you can just look at the display and go "I have some infantry squads moving, a tank that has been disabled and another squad being wiped out, I think i'll select it and move it" all at a glance and with out moving the camera!

I just wanted to put a couple of things that could be patched into the game mayby?
Graphics:
An option to make buring vehicles stay burning for the whole game?
An option to make it so dead crew member models don't dissapear from their vehicle after a while and stay for the whole game until removed by another unit?
These too would add more immersion and presistance to the battlefield. Being able to look over the buring vehicles and dead crew makes it look more like a battle was just fought here.
Units:
88Flak (you knew I was going to say that)
Some new weapons for the airstrikes (eg. rockets and bombs) so they are able to defeat more than just guns and unprotected crew. Also the manual said that they will target SPG and armored cars over infantry, even though none of the plane weapons can beat an armorded car (unless they get lots of hits)!
Interface:
This could be tricky, but can a sort of CC style unit selection interface be implemented. With all your squads and vehicles shown in it with their current status/KIAs/action and be able to select them by clicking. I still want to be able to select individual soldiers directly but this would take some of the "clickfest" out of the game. You could put it where the battle statistic page is now on a different tab.
Heres a pick of it if you don't know what I'm talking about:
http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&pos=-3113
I'm refering to the thing at the bottom not the squad interface on the side (another posible idea?).

Ricochets are already in, smoke would be nice for when you have to move infantry towards a dugin enemy.
-
Yep I noted that aswell, the PzF has a very high arc so if your close it might overshoot the target.
-
Dose anyone know how to put support assets into missions? I set some up so that I would get some arty but it never became avalible, I played around with the delay and stuff but still nothing.
Also dose anyone know how to move units once you've saved a mission? I keep going back to my first test but whenever I move the units they always appear in the same origonal spots ingame. They even appear in their new spots when I load the mission in the editor again just always in the same spot ingame.

I agree that everything on your list would make TOW a much better game and should be put in. Buildings can't be put in though, atleast not properly.
-
Considering Moon said that you need to manage you troops so they follow roads, crash into stuff and run off on some crazy path to a point. Not having waypoints is quite a problem.
-
It's pretty obvious that having less than 2GB of RAM is slowing down the game. Just look at the specs, everyone with slowdown has less than 2GB regardless of graphics and processor.

So with the pre-orders you get the download and the CD game, I was wondering: Is the download game a seperate copy from the CD game that we get too (different CD key, able to play seperatly)?
-
If they release it for download, wouldn't the server completly overload and you won't be able to get it for a few days anyway?
-
So it can be Modded? It's not all hardcoded like IL-2? That's good.
-
Regardless of its actuall importance I think we can all agree one one thing: You should have the Flak88 in a WW2 rts just because it's the Flak88. I don't know of a WW2 rts that dosn't have the Flak88, seriously I can't think of 1!
-
Ok thanks I thought it might be like Pre-orders on Steam, where you download the files then activate it on release.
-
Ok so I got my Pre-order in a while ago and couldn't download it because the file is too big so I didn't click the link because it said you could only use it once. I found out that I can download stuff in the middle of the night without using the download quota so I decide to get the file anyway. But now whenever I try to click the download link in the email it sese the page is missing? What's going on, I want to download iiiitttt.
Ok I had an idea, is the page missing because the game isn't out? I thought it was going to have an activation system like Steam?

Definatly the Il-2 sound engine here! It has all the doppler and lound sound deafness effects from Il-2. Does it use the shell "wizz by" effect from Il-2 aswell?
Oh and "Horrah!" to whoever came up with that voice chatter.

I was wondering, you can damage and destroy components but what factors lead to a tank going into a "knocked out" state? You know when you hit a tank and the crew bail out, it is removed from the selectable units and a crater appears under it?
