  1. Hi all:

I started a 1939 Storm Over Europe campaign last weekend against the AI and I have advanced to mid august 1941, but had not read the guide that comes with it until today.

There are a couple of things that don't match to me and I wanted to post them here in case they are to be fixed:

    • In the player's guide it is said that the Brittish will receive the in late '40 the Western Desert Airforce consisting of a fighter and a tactical bomber. I have not received them half a year later. Am I missing something or is there a bug?
    • Brittish DE101 states St Clair is a DD when the ship you receive is a BB, is this WAD and there's a typo in the guide or again a little glitch?
    • Brittish DE 104 states that if you accept it Yugoslavia will join the Allies but in my game they did not their war readiness nonetheless boosted to 84 or 85 iirc. Same question as before.
    • Russia DE 401: I replied no to the Winter war and in early 1940 Russia gained the Karelian Isthmus and the Hanko naval base. That was a good deal ;)

I'd appreciate if you could look into this, if I find any other things that strike me I'll post them.

And last congratulations for the new campaign and patch, this game is Great!

    Rafael.

  2. I recall reading and I agree, that sometimes the front is so clatered with units that it is hard to move them in order to switch positions, retreating the batered ones and replacing them with fresh units from the rear.

What I'd like to see implemented is a function that would allow to switch positions between two adjacent units, conditions they should meet could be: units have not been moved, units are in a certain supply level (to be determined), units spend all action points for that turn.

How about pressing ctrol or shift, select unit 1 then select unit 2 to switch position while keeping shift or ctrl pressed.

How hard would this be to be implemented? Is it possible with the current game engine?

    Regards

  3. Hi all:

I have Norton 360v5.0 and everytime it scans the HD for viruses it says the file "regsvr32_dx7vbdll.exe" is a trojan.gen virus and it deletes it placing it in quarantine, so manually I keep telling to restore it.

This file is located in misc folder and I guess it has something to do with the elicense activation system, a false positive.

Could you please contact Norton and tell them to exclude this false positive.

If not a false positive let me know, hopefully not.

    Thanks

  4. Oh yes great fun playing SC GC.

As to my game against Minty (Axis), Russia is about to collapse, China is history long time ago, UK holds ok (for the moment) and US is getting stronger everyday with high tech. levels it would have been interesting to see what could have happended if more time was available, will keep on playing this last week and if Minty wants/has time I will finish the game to see what could have happened. But the game is his anyway.

As to my other game I will probably send you the save so you can evaluate for yourself, unless Guderian gives up which don't think probable. In this game Leningrad has fallen, so has the Caucasus and Moscow and Stalingrad will fall the moment the good weather comes back, allowing to a deeper push into Russia. The Allies have disembarked in Italy they hold Sicily but for the moment are stuck there, and Greece, reinforces are arriving and I'm optimistic they can be pushed back to the sea, even when they have total control of the waters.

In the Atlantic the subs are sinking mps every turn and so far they are doing good.

The japs are having a very tough time in China where they're being driven back slowly but steadily, here is a matter of time before they're defeated but could be a long time.

In the Pacific the japs and US fleet haven't met yet and when they do the clash will decide who wins the Pacific war.

    Regards.

  5. ...

From the player perspective, not much is changing. The biggest change I guess is that there will be no need to unlicense anymore (at all).

    ...

If you look at the End User License Agreement printed in the manual, you will see that we allow you to have one copy of the game installed and another copy as "backup". Now, obviously many people use this to have two copies of the game running at the same time, but that's ok. We're not enforcing the backup part.

The new licensing system will achieve the same end effect, but it's even less strict. You get 2 activations by default, and 2 overflow activations by default, so in theory you can have 4 concurrently. However, if you end up needing more, you will begin running into limitations. That's good for us (because it means that people cannot exploit the system and endlessly install a copy of our game without paying for additional licenses), and it's good for you (because in the short run, the system is more flexible, and in the long run, without the requirement to unlicense, it is also much more forgiving on the player).

    ...

Hi Martin thanks for the quick response, and many thanks for increasing the number of installations at our disposal.

Got one question though, when you say there's no need to unlicense anymore, you are not meaning unlicensing is not longer possible are you?

Also is this new system going to be applied to the previously released battlefront games?

The dude from the village :D, Mr j_j_r you were not good in geography were you?

  6. BTW, we are not going to use "an improved eLicense". We are switching to a completely different DRM with this release. It is fully compliant with UAC, Vista, and Win 7.

Moon can you spill the beans on this one?

While I understand eLicense is probably the most secure DRM available, it also has its own inconviniencies for us players/users, for example you can't unlicense with you don't have internet conection, limiting the given licenses to only two imho are just to few, speaking for myself I have a pc in a village (no internet conection) in which I have all SC series but Pacific Theater installed and licensed, that's my first license, on my home pc I have the second license used, end of licenses, recently I bought a new HD and installed Win7 leaving Win XP, now if I wanted the game to run in Win 7 I would have to keep licensing and unlicensing each time I chose an OS.

Another inconvinience is when you get a crash due to virus or hardware breakdown, and you lose your licenses, even when your support team works great, happened to me once and you restored my elicenses, nonetheless it's kind of annoying you have to explain what happened.

So I would be most happy if you change to a DRM system like Matrix or Slitherine has 16 digit license that enables you to install the game in all your pc. Or if at least you would give three to five elicenses that would also make my day, the moment my son has his onw pc he will want all SC games installed in it, with the current system I would have either to unlicense from another pc or buy the games again, doesn't seem reasonable imho.

Having said all this I will still buy SC WWI the moment is release no matter what DRM system you use :)

    Regards.

  7. Has anyone had this problem so far, ive had it with all versions of SC so far. I attempt to play an email game, I start a game, i save it, quit the game and go to the email folder to send the file off and voila, no files in that folder. I reload the game go to load multiplayer and lo and behold, the game shows up there, i can load it if i want but it does not show up in the folders on my hard drive. Well now with Global Conflict i had the same problem, i did a search of my hard drive which never resulted in any findings with Windows Vista but I am using Windows 7 now and a search did at last show the file ive been looking for. Funny thing is, its in a hidden folder (this is a rough path to it)

    C:/users/myname/appdata/local/virtualstore/program files/battlefront/globalconflict/multiplayer/email

Im curious why it saves here when as far as i know the game is in c:/programfiles/battlefront/globalconflict/email etc. etc.

Is there some way to stop this from happening and can anyone explain exactly what is happening, where did the virtualstore , appdata, etc. folders come from? Why are email game files saved in a hidden folder?

    Bill....................

I recall reading in another thread that this has to do with Vista and Windows 7, they create something like a "virtual folder" that is hidden, it might be another name I'm not sure.

The way to avoid this was to install the game not in the default folder: "program files" but create your own folder "Games/battlefront/globalconflict/multiplayer/email" and you won't have any problems.

Then again I still have old Win XP installed and even when I may be losing some speed I 'm avoiding lots of issues like this one.

    Hope it helps
