  1. King of the hill is all you can get with objective. Did it on WED first.
  2. I was doing a job of work outside on the block today. I suddenly thought how easy it would be to defeat the small ion weapons as presented in the game. A simple coating of rock particles with small prismatic silicate "pieces" mixed through an emulsion of calcium silicates, gypsum and magnesium or zinc oxides with an internal mesh to give it flexibility (chicken wire).... Ie a nice thick layer of reinforced concrete. Not even noticable on a thor with an AM motor.
  3. I think the first thing is getting other Zone types. The one unit is all it takes types aren't believable. The zone should be based on the amount / strength of forces in the zone.
  4. Simply changing some of the timing and scales could get rid of a lot of the chaos. Double the default point spacing on the maps from 20-30m to 40-60 m. Make the drops take a couple of minutes. Allow longer mission times. Oh and have forces not all available at the start. So you may get 12 thors over the mission but you get 3 every 10- 15 minutes. Therefore it allows a side to keep a reserve for a desisive action. [ September 02, 2006, 05:43 AM: Message edited by: Dark_au ]
  5. I like the bots using arty more but I agree that the accuracy should be mellowed out.
  6. If I may. How about keeping the turret at the original height, on a raised dias or something. This would enable it to get into some truly great hull down positions especially by backing into them. Or if the Engine allows for it have the gun on a lifting mount like the T-95 concept. This link doesn't show it but some sources say its gun can actually be lifted up by a couple of meters on an hydraulic platform. [ August 31, 2006, 04:34 PM: Message edited by: Dark_au ]
  7. Re read what I said. I said IF the Thor is going to be a lumbering behemoth. It should be bigger and scarier or it should be more agile and faster. A tank should be a terrifying prospect, part of their role is psychological. An infantry man should walk in fear of a tank not just chase them around. Would you want to be in a brdm facing a M1 while you are out in the open?. The similarity between the BRDM ATGM or the Hummer with tow and the shrike are obvious. Neither of them would want to be in the open to either. Most assuredly a finger of death or the gunner doesn't know what he is doing. Difference between any modern tank and the thor is its slow speed. A current tank like the Leo2, T-80 or M1 is a fast, agile creature. The thor is more like a WW2 Jagdtiger a slow cumbersome cobbled together item that isn't really the battlefield superiority which is needed.
  8. A lot of what you are saying is related to problems I've been trying to point out. Without bieng inflamatory the game design itself appears to be one of the major flaws. The "Why" of most of the equiptment is not really apparent. Plus some of the base elements of the game appear to lend themselves to this sort of problem and the nessecity for run-around type playing. First and foremost the scales are all wrong. The mission maps need to be larger scaled to allow room to manaeouver The time scale for the objective needs to be longer so that attrition can play its part and so desisive actions can be planned in more detail and without such a frentic pace. The objective themselves need to be made more sensible and more of a challenge to achieve rather than just scoring for one enemy unit. Objectives scoring should be more based on relative strengths in the zone rather than just allowing a single unit to score. Objective scores also need to be able to change quicker to allow for the ebb and flow of attack and counter attack. The dropships themselves aren't believable. When you give a drop order imediately it is there in the upper atmosphere. What are all these friendly and enemy dropships just hanging around together in orbit over this 25x25km area?. Explain the physics behind them bieng able to achieve geosyncronos orbit only a few KM up. Anyone who would know anything about orbital mechanics could tell you that Geosync orbits are only possible at very high orbit. If its coming straight from the liveship then what are there 2 liveships up there within the 25km square and they aren't shooting each other or each others dropships. Someone is going to say Oh but its Sci-fi. Well if they have some magic antigravity why don't tanks have it. If they are in proper orbits then what about some realistic times for arrival. Tanks.. Calling the Thor a Main battle tank is a joke. An MBT should be something absolutely terryifying. If its a slow behemoth like the Thor then it should be double all the dimensions, Armed with a 300mm Mass driver with scoops under the body which it scoops raw material and exposes it to the heat and magnetism of the reactor before kicking it out at high speed from a linear accelerator. The impact of this should be enough to turn a shrike to goo, They should not be so puny that even infantry aren't fearful of them. Each side should get 1 or 2 of them. If they are going to be the current size then they should be faster and more agile. Its gun shopuld be finger of death to most things lighter than itself. As it is the Appollo is more of an MBT than the thor. Artillery from the ground is dumb. If you can drop pods from orbit so quickly and easily then why would you need a ground based arty unit which kicks the round up so high. Why not simply fire plasma bolts the way they drop pods. The infantry should have HE grenades instead of ATG for use against infantry. AT should be a specialist job not just the standard riflemans job.
  9. fine... Its ok for these lame brains to antagonise me but its not ok for me to respond... Very fair.. Tell you what gimme a refund and I will happily forget this place or the travesty it repressents ever existed.

    Mine drop pods

The ATTACKER dropped troops into the building before the end of deployment. Adzling Go **** yourself and suck your boyfriend Owankyamericans cock some more.

    Mine drop pods

what I complained about in the mission Adzling talks about is the fact that they dropped infantry into the building at the center of the Hide n Seek map before the deployment time was over. Its a loophole in the Mission which is well known yet instead of behaving like disciplined players they utilized the loophole. Thereby avoiding any tactical planning or even a sensible game. This is the repeated problem that people who play this do not have the decency to play in the spirit of a mission. Given a loophole of any description and it will be used by someone rather than actually having to use a tactical approach. This is demonstrated repeatedly with things like Mine pods, Herpes backstabbing bots, dropping galaxies rather than displacing etc etc etc.

    Mine drop pods

seeing as i didn't bother dropping i don't see how that happened. It was just another example of how stupid the average DT player is that they can't even see the problem.

    Mine drop pods

oh btw THAT was an insult in case I was bieng to subtle.

    Mine drop pods

Oh so I don't have reasoned objections. Idiot... you have the IQ of a lemon and wouldn't know tactics if they came up and bit you. I notice in SB TS you are the rank outside newbie yet you are gonna try and tell me I have no reasoned arguments. I was working on tank sims before you even knew what a tank was.
  15. when all i can see is bunny hopping loophole play thats what I'll point out. Mine dropping, all the other **** you idiots pull to avoid dealing with the tactical situation. Again I have an oppinion so I'm a villain?. Look at what happened to Hide n Seek. There is a flaw so people have to exploit it. No concept of maybe it isn't the intention or maybe have some discipline and not utilise a loophole but no... That might mean actually having to deal with a real tactical situation. Instead spawn raping / bunny hopping etc are the way people have to play.. To me this game is becoming more and more like BF42. Something that could have been a good tactical exercise ruined by idiotic spawn raping type play. If that is TBG's intention with this game to be a competition for BF2142 then good luck you are on track.. Of course they have more money and a bigger dev team so its not much competition. And you can keep it. I will continue therefore to warn away people who think this will be a realistic test of skill and strategic knowledge.
  16. Maybe you should try playing with these kids at some point and see how ruined the game already is from a tactical point of view. What I am Simply trying to say is that Air defence is already the most important thing. I thought this was a game about Armour not air defence.
  17. In the middle distance a player in a paladin who isn't low enough to be affected by the loacal long grass will see the infantry lying out in the open if they have folliage turned off... I'm talking about say 2-500m
  18. The last sollution still leaves a player with folliage on at the mercy of those without it on in the middle distance.
  19. Oh and it will probably used in conjustion with another player in a herpes. They will use it to run around behind the enemy and kill him from the rear ( especially the dumb bots which people are too busy to sheppard). Then hang around killing the same dumb bots that probably try and drop close by. Imune to artillery because of the herpes, and call down galaxies to defend them from anyone in a tank while the herpes uses its magic invisibility to butt slap them.
  20. well what does it really have to do with tactical armoured combat?. Its just another piece of air defence, which is already over represented. Believe me with the way people play someone will find a loophole with it to ruin tactical play. Plus it is another item that requires no skill on the part of the player using it to score "kills". If they had to actually guide the missiles manually then maybe it wouldn't be so bad.
  21. I can see the tactic already. Herpes, bachius working together. Maybe with a mercury in between to call down mine pods on their enemies and to quickly call down the galaxy to protect them from the tanks too. IMHO the last thing this game needs is more gimicks or loopholes to be exploited.
  22. The setting for ground clutter on or off needs to be set by the server. As it is there are several people who appear to deliberately turn it off to give themselves an advantage. This is stupid as the only reply is to turn it off yourself. To me that defeats the whole purpose of it being there.
  23. Very impractical design. Too long, Not enough ground clearance. Also imagine with all that weight at the back what this thing would look like going over a lump in the ground. The nose will be up in the air until the 3rd wheel crosses... Then it better have some good suspension to absorb the impact on the front when it goes down. if no one puts a round through its underside.
