  1. Good ideas. I don't see a problem with any of them. I also reduced the range of artillery to one tile. Two was slightly unrealistic. I increased the infantry attack and defense of anti-tank guns and reduced the starting range of fighters and tac bombers.

    As for A-Bombs; unfortunately there is no way to stop a country from using one every turn once they have it. They do alot of damage to either the resource or the unit, not both though, and the effect is not permanent. We need a brand new A-Bomb unit to be designed into the game engine.

    That is why I added the H-Bomb scripts. It better simulates the devestating effect on units and resources alike.

    Thanks to Hubert I am now working on modding the PDE expansion with my map and will release it when PDE is released.

  2. My last version of the WAW MOD prior to PDE will be posted later tonight but I need some input on some gameplay changes that I want to make:

    1. Reduce naval attack and defense of subs, they seem to decimate capital ships even at no tech.

    2. Reduce the range of fighters and tactical bombers. German fighters should only be able to reach into the UK by one or two tiles at most at no tech.

    3. Increase the sub attack and defense of destroyers.

    4. Decrease the soft and tank defense of paratroops.

    What do you guys think?

    Changes already included for this version:

    1. Various map adjustments, additions and corrections.

    2. Add a French corps to Marseilles.

    3. Add scripts for the creation of Montenegro and the annexation of Luxembourg, Alsace and Lorraine.

    4. Moved Cherbourg city and port to allow for better "Normandy" invasions.

    5. Added a second port to Southampton-Portsmouth as this was a major port along the lines of New York, Scapa Flow and Norfolk.

    6. Fixed the British Home Guard script so that they only appear on invasion of the UK.

    7. Added Hydrogen Bomb scripts to keep bombed cities in Germany at zero after the first strike.

    8. Italy: added Milan, Bologna

    9. USA: added Buffalo, Richmond, Hartford

    10. USSR: added Orel, Vitebsk, Bryansk

    11. Turkey: added Iskanderun

    12. France: added Rheims, Toulouse, La Rochelle

    13. Yugoslavia: added Sarajevo, Montenegro

    14. Germany: added Bremen, Bratislava, changed Dusseldorf-Cologne to Ruhr

    15. Spain: added Cordoba

  3. A couple of questions that I can't seem to figure out:

    1. Is there a penalty for attacking across a river (or bonus for defending across a river)?

    2. If there is, does road negate this?

    3. Do fortresses or forts that cover one tile side cover the corners as well?

    4. I saw the Axis AI scripted conquest of Norway in a recent game. As Allies, if I had DOW'd Norway and had troops there prior, would that script have still occured?

  4. Version 3 will be up tomorrow. A few more map changes and corrections and I added some scripts for Axis Oil shortages after mid 1943 if they have not secured the Caucasus or Middle East and US Hydrogen Bomb attacks in late 1945 and 1946 if the game is still going. (These are REALLY cool) This is on top of the smaller bombs made available for the US (and maybe others) to purchase late in the war. Next up, East and West Africa and the Free French as a minor nation!

    It includes some minor map changes as well as the following:

    Ukrainian and Croatian SS

    Spanish Blue Units

    British Home Guard

    Polish Partisans

    Warsaw uprising

    Greek, Polish, Belgian and Dutch Free Units

    Axis surface raiders from Brest, Nantes and Bordeaux.

    Italy, Russia, Bulgaria, Romania and all of the "third world" countries start with reduced SA and TA on their armies and corps to represent their poor training and organization at the start. This can be compensated for during the war by tech.

    Russia has reduced costs for corps and armies representing their pool of manpower.

    Graf Zeppelin added to the German production queue for 1945 at 1 strength.

    I will then start work on adding the East African theatre.

  6. Version 1 is up on cmmods.

    For the Atom Bomb the best way to simulate it is to simply make it a unit that everyone can purchase at level 0. The MPPs required and production delay make it not an option for most countries except the USA unless they seriously hamper their war effort. All of the attack values are maxed to ten. Therefore, it should destroy ANY unit its dropped on or wipe out any resource. There is no way to make the resource disappear permanently though.

I have decided to update my HONCH MOD for WAW even though it may be some time before I get the proper scale map I would like. ;) Many of the features I had in my original MOD look as though they have become normal features of WAW . ;) I need to ask those who played the previous MOD as to which features I should add again:

    I have already finished the map with all of the extra cities, towns and ports as well as adding the Netherlands and Trans-Jordan as separate countries. I will also reduce all resource bitmaps by 50% to unclutter the map. I have also changed the starting OOB to be more historical.

    I will consider adding the following based on feedback:

    Scripts:

    1. Creation of Croatia and Kingdom of Montenegro upon conquest of Yugoslavia.

    2. German and Italian territorial annexations in France after fall of France.

    3. French, Dutch, Baltic, Ukrainian and Croatian SS units.

    4. Spanish Blue units.

    5. British Home Guard.

    6. Volkstrum/Volksgrenadiers. (German Home Guard)

    7. Axis oil shortage supply penalties.

    8. Activation of De Gaulle and Free French units. (I think that there are already some scripts for this)

    9. Free Polish, Dutch and Greek units.

    10. Axis surface raiders in the Atlantic.

    Units:

    Change rockets to Atomic Bomb and allow for development of the bomb. (Very expensive and time consuming for all but the USA)

    Change special forces to marines.

    Change partisans to militia. (This will still allow USSR partisan units to appear but will also represent low level garrison troops)

  9. SC2 with WAW is definately the best of the bunch. CEAW's only advantages are the oil feature and the scale of the map. Although the interface is rather pretty as well.

    Best features of SC2:

    1. Support. Hubert is amazing at supporting the product and the commitment to expansion is fabulous.

    2. Moddability. The editor is great and only getting better. Try the CEAW editor, its like working in binary.

    3. AI. Its a tough one.

    4. Diplomacy. The "what-if" and re-playability are very good.

    5. Variety of units. Although many of them are not appropriate at the large scale of FAll Weiss (1939 scenario) they provide lots of fun.

    Need improvement:

    1. Scale. The Fall Weiss scale is too large. It needs to be reduced by about 30%.

    2. Oil. There needs to be an oil feature to represent oil shortages later in the war.

    3. Artwork. THe 3-D units and resource bitmaps are too large. They should be reduced by 50% to clean-up the map.
