I don't know how hard it would be but I think it would be great to be able to swap maps between the various games that BF is producing or a map conversion tool to go between the various games. There is a map tool for CMBO, CmBB and CMAK that allows this but dont know if something like that would work for the CM2 games. The present games are being updated and changed on a regular basis so that might preclude a viable map tool?
I gave it a shot with CMFI to CMBN, but right now the date parameters are such that I don't think there is any way to transfer the scenario.

This seems to serve me well as I have not lost a single PBEM in CMx2 as of yet. When one puts themselves in a box they cannot think outside of it.
Man I totally trashed my neighbor game after game for almost a year. I mean I just completely humiliated them. We don't get to play so much now that he is back in school. First grade is apparently pretty demanding. I can't wait till summer break though next year, time for some more whoop ass!!
Oh by the way, nice back handed slap at your opponents. I am sure they totally appreciate your estimation of their capabilities.

PS - Thank Ken for taking the time to sort through some of this and get it reported. As a fellow player I do appreciate it.

As of post 14 c3k had reported it. The process now is to wait and see what BF thinks. I don't think there is much question at least within this thread of it appearing barfed. What BF will think or whether it will make it in next patch or have to wait for a following one or upgrade release etc etc no idea. I expect BF is really busy what with them having at least two games they have said they have in the pipeline (Bagration and CMSF2) and a module for CMBN coming. It may take a bit. I expect that is true in general for requests, issues etc.

It's been mentioned before multiple times, both here and at other forums.
This is not specifically directed to you Northman, but I wanted to respond in general about the above and some other posts on this thread.
Other forums don't really count. For anything to get looked at you need to have it go to BF and there is no guarantee anyone you need to get it to is reading any others. I know I don't.
Secondly mentioning it has almost no bearing. Keep in mind BFs recent announcements and try to imagine their work load - they have very little time to read the forum, wonder about some of the things posted and find the time to look at them. What you really need is to engage a beta tester and honestly even as a noobie I don't take that much interest if the folks reporting it don't bother to provide a save or some specifics to look at. C3k has repeatedly stepped in recently to do just that for folks and I don't exactly see anyone lining up to say "thanks bro".
I had requested for example a while back from another person who'd posted an issue an example of a save, they said they had it, I pm'd them and have gotten no reply. I have had to chalk that one up as something not worth pursuing. We volunteers would like time to play the game as well and are not here to just chase down every suggestion someone comes up with that something might be in error.
As to Killkess's statement about 'fanboys", again briefly mentioning an item in another thread with no real data and then blaming the response of "fanboys" buys you no interest from the folks who you are trying to get to look at it. Put together a succinct statement on the issue in question with a save that demonstrates the behavior however and you are far more likely to have someone look at it ands post it to BF.
We are in essence all beta testers. To expect however to say "hey I saw something I don't think is right" with no supporting data and then get worked up because no one seems to agree or follow up is basically blaming others for not taking the time to show what you mean. If you aren't willing to take the time to show what it is you are seeing as an issue what makes you think anyone else is going to?
And just to repeat - when I see folks throwing the term fanboy, the odds I am going to spend even one second of my time is just about nil. You want me to work for free for ya then show at least a modicum of respect. Otherwise you are on your own and can rant until hell freezes over before I am gonna take my time away from the game to look at your issue and try to post a trouble on it.

The well is dry, already?
Mord.
Well that's what you get when you set the following condition:
Ok...maybe we can redo this thread without all the self righteous indignation, arguing and side tracking...maybe. LOL.Mord.

Not sure what you mean by referring to deleting piece by piece. If for example you wanted one company from a battalion, you select the battalion then delete 2 companies. That is about 5 clicks of the mouse.
The selection process in CMx2 seems to be one of those where if you take the time to get used to it and like having better ToEs, it is far better than CMx1. If you really just want the CMx1 version, then you are simply out of luck.
As to it is crashing, lots of folks are buying stuff using the editor and to my knowledge there haven't been other reports like yours. Best thing to do is go to the helpdesk, they may be able to help you figure out why it is crashing on you. Certainly better than just repeating it till you are too frustrated to want to play the game.
Good luck

These are amazing. Fantastic job on each and every one.
The Italy buildings should give an idea of what has changed- Normal maps are probably the main difference for structures.
Release away!- no one will care one bit about the difference in the interim, and when 2.0 comes out, revisit if doing the normal maps is necessary.
+1 on that!!! Hell +10 on that!

Nice surprise Mord. Finally home to start playing CM and having to chose between SF, Normandy or Italy. Damn you BFC!!! LOL

Perhaps you may already know that in chaos theory (now more commonly called complexity theory) there is a set of phenomena called Strange Attractors. Not exactly sure what that has to do with your post, but somehow it called them to mind.
Michael
I think you meant to post this in the MBT.

That's just off the top of my head
Aside from that, which is easier and cheaper to maintain: a Toyota Camry, or a Porsche 959? Why?
A Porsche 959 - because if you can afford one, you can afford to have your butler take it to the shop and you can probably right it off as a company expense. The person who has the Camry has to pay for it themselves and take the day off, which they probably can't afford....
See I am learning from watching the campaigns. Spin baby.

Btw, although nobody commented, I thought this was a good one.
Welcome back to the States...or are you still in PRC?
yep, back on the ground right in time for another hilarious fun filled week of US election campaigns, otherwise known as "what bonehead will we stick in the office with their finger on the button for the next 4 years who we can then blame for everything we do wrong."

So you don't think the changes made in CMFI have significantly changed the way the game plays?
That is a tough one to evaluate as the theater itself drives a lot of behavioral changes. Lack of good portable AT weapons, more open terrain, different armored vehicle availability etc.
I think once version 2 is released for CMBN you will have a much clearer view of how it impacts game play.
That being said, I won't hesitate at all to buy the upgrade as soon as it is available rather than waiting for some bundled deal when MG is released.

The National Socialist Workers Party was a 'left wing' organization not a 'right wing' organization. Don't let Stalin's post war posturing fool you (Stalin, chomping a cigar 'wow, wouldn't want to be associated with those guys - better call them right wingers so nothing sticks to me. Oh, don't look at all those Ukrainians - nothing to see there). No, the Nazi Party was not communist but Fascism holds many 'community' and 'collective' based foundations. The collective being the state as opposed to the proletariat.
Huh? No, whatever else one might say about the Nazi's, they were most assuredly not left wing.

it is the early Fred Flintstone variant.

Dang, ya hop a plane to head home and all hell breaks loose on the forum. Sheesh

It could possibly get tossed in as part of an odds and ends module.

Who in their right mind would install a video card while leaving the PC powered, RAM up and the HD running?
Rotflmao, not much would be working after that. I think (hope) the vulture is correct.

also depends on what you are looking at. Obviously a tank in a wheat field is a whole other proposition than an infantry team. Infantry can vanish pretty damn fast in wheatfields.
-
It would be interesting to see that portrayed in the game. Not on every encounter of course but once in awhile when a Sherman encounters a German tank. Be it Tiger 1, Tiger 2 or Panther. Roll of the dice sort of thing.
LOL man wouldn't you hate that though when you have a nice flank shot lined up and "bam!" oops that was a smoke round....then hope like hell it actually smokes em out.

Just downloaded the demo, after purchasing a far more capable system, apart from some dodgy graphics (corrugated shadows and the occasional tracer like flicker on the landscape) I'm seriously impressed. Being a sadist I'm playing the UK mission (modern Jock column arrives piecemeal to occupy BUA) on Iron level with turns.
So far so good. My Javelin, sniper and HQ units with attached MFC, have all deployed and are observing the target area, my recce squads are moving 200m ahead of their vehicles, and supporting Scimitars, scouting out my right flank. But I am finding it very difficult to position soldiers so they can take full advantage of the terrain. At the moment I am resorting to using units that can call artillery for a LOS tool, to move to enfilade positions. Surely a Javelin crew, or dedicated sniper team would be able to gauge this quite accurately. I have not met any enemy resistance, apart from two ATGM shots, so cannot use hunt, to work into good firing positions.
Talking of the Sagger? shots, I'm assuming a pretty crappy system because after using replay I found out where the cloud of dust at the base of the enemy ridge came from! Gunner must have driven it into the ground straight after launch! The second missile though passed right over the vehicle and it sat there! Luckily, the turn ended and a pop smoke and reverse order got it to safety, but I'd have thought a recce vehicle with eyes on the firing point would have reacted automatically. The manual says that units can behave autonomously, but it sat there, is this normal?
Anyway, very impressed, and the 1 to1 representation creates amazing tension and an, almost, emotional link with the pixel truppen. Finger crossed, can't wait for my two Challies to arrive and the AS-90's to bombard the Sagger? firing posts.
It gets better, some time next year we should see another modern game using the version 2 engine. Much as I like CMSF, I can't wait to see it with the updates. Even though CMSF won't be updated I'd still buy it again just for everything that comes with it. Suggest downloading the Ramadi scenario from LLF

and Task Force Panther from Normal Dude.

Just two of many
As to your unit not reacting, it is possible that specific unit did not ID how close that second round was and therefore wouldn't react.

It is always someone elses' fault. That is pretty much how the world works. If you can blame some social issue in your country or at least divert the populace's attention with issues now 70+ years in the past - total bonus.

Hope they don't feature flamethrowers only on Touch. Visions of everyone deserting PC gaming for playing CM2 on your smartphone. (Aaaargh!)
LOL I won't be one. Even if I never get flamethrowers I just don't really have an interest in gaming on that medium. I know, I am such a luddite.

very nice, as usual.
A few questions about the direction of CMx2.

They very well may considering that is likely several years away, but that wouldn't get you anything in terms of not swapping titles (perhaps that wasn't where you were headed with this, sorry if that is the case).
