  1. And we are talking RTT games and not RTS. There is no base building, unit production and resource gathering as well as no silly short LOS or hitpoints on units.

In that sense CC and ToW are in the same category except ToW is 3D. The big question is if the use of 3D is detrimental to gameplay in modern warfare settings or not.

CMSF will show another company's take on how to do it. I dont see ToW to be more than a limited attempt in this genre. There are IMO too many things missing or not done properly in ToW to show the potiential of using 3D.

  2. Personally I dont need any MP campaign I just want a good setup for custom armies and lots of maps, and of course something that doesnt drown in connection issues.

But ToW doesnt deliver that at all and I doubt MP will be useful for anything but 1v1. Getting a handful of tanks is not my idea of deep gameplay. The 4v4 I tried to play were down to 2-3 tanks for each player IIRC

  3. The Mission Editor can be used to make missions that does allow you to buy units. At least that is how it looks like when I was checking it out

Coop v AI is not in

After two days of trying MP out I have pretty much given up because of stability/connection issues. And in the end I doubt its possible to have more than a few units per player for big 4v4 games.

MP might still be nice for 1v1 but I had expected a lot more from ToW.

  4. There is no in game chat :( If quitting a battle I think you can rejoin and come back to the "lobby" right away for chatting afterwards. But yes MP is very limited and I hope they are gonna improve on that in the future, not only for ToW but also for CMSF and Les Grognards.

Unit selection depends on scenario. I dont think the 8 we have so far allows it but it can be done in the mission editor. So we have to make some missions ourselves.

And yes loading takes ages. I dont understand why it takes so long.

  5. I took as little infantry as possible, MG34, one PAK and 4 tanks. Put the tanks on the right behind the ridge and the PAK/MG34 on the left at the walls.

I didnt place the PAK well enough so it died quickly and two of my tanks also managed to move too much forward to get themselves engaged and killed off. My two remaining tanks stopped the bridge crossing and kept the flanking attempt at bay which enabled my first wave of reinforcements to come down and fight.

I ended up with two tanks(Panther and Jadgpanther) each having a handfull of HE round left and one Nashorn with tracks smashed up. Everything else was dead. IIRC losses were 68 men, 6 tanks and 2 guns v 177 men and 24 tanks.
