  1. First of all i must say "Thank you" to BFC and what they did. Im not the one who was looking forward to the Brits Modul and hope it dont draw Ressources from the Normandy Game.

It was Fun to play the Marines Demo and the Brits Demo. Alot of new Toys for the Western Fanboy to slaughter the Syrian Crap Forces. Its really Fun to play in Single Player but wont be in Multiplayer i guess.

Played the Demo Misssion on Syrian Side against the British Forces. I killed 33 British Soldiers and around the same Size Seriously Injured. Took out around 7 APC and Recon Tracks and a Bunch of those Jeeps. It was a political Fiasko. I dont think that In Iraq the Brits and US Forces rarly had such heavy losses. The Challenger took round after Round from AT-3 Sagger Hits on Front, back and alot of RPG-7V Hits and didnt go down till i hadn`t any Ammo left.

After giving Brits such a bloody Nose i stoped cause my eyes where hurt while they where storming with their last few Soldiers and wit almost no Firesupport from APCs left. I did a Cease Fire wich seemed the most realistic way to end this. This what would have a responsible Comm would have done on the Brits Side.

Holding both Intersections but not Police Compound i only got a "Minor" Victory and was really upset.

Here in lies the Problem with CMSF and the Assymetric Warfare. More then 10% Losses for US/UK Soldiers should almost always result in a Total Victory for the Syrian Site!

Enjoyed the Game anyway. If there will be a Discount on a Marines/Brits Bundle ill buy it maybe.

  2. Hello there.

Its been quit a while since i took a look at those Forums here. To be honest, i dont care for the Brits Module and just waiting for the Normandy Release. Not 100% True. If Brits is out then you can focus more on CM Normandy i guess.

    So the Magic Question is:

"Any ETA on when the Normandy Title will be out?"

i understand that there wont be an exact release Date. But how many % do you have finisihed and how long roughly does the Rest take? Q1 2010, Q2 2010? Christmas 2011?

    Please give us an estimation.

  3. How to Rotate your Units in a direction? Always have the Problem of Tankturrets or Infantry not facing in the Right direction. You just can change facing with moving a unit?

  4. Basically a unit in a building is invisible until it shoots, you can even move around the building. The result is: it is impossible to avoid ambushes, the guy in the building will always get the first shot. Even when he is standing on a roof in plain sight or running around in the building.

Some ppl really that that this should be realistic. For me its just anoying. Agruing from one side or another dint do the trick.

So maybe i should start a Topic like:

"What is the US Army doing to prespot ambushes wich we can simulate in the Game well?"

  5. I agree with you Ali-Baba. QB Improvment (symbiont from Cherry Picking/Super-Duper-New-NormandySelection) is the basis for the next title. As Cmx1 was very well balanced in all aspects on Strongpoints and weaknesses of the Equipment of that time im very optimisticly looking onto WW2 Title that they will do the trick one more time.

bring more life to the game enviorment would be appriciated. Hope that spotting doesnt stay the same as it is modelled in game right now (like inf in hiding pos cant be spotted) and the right modell of equipment wich are the two greatest flaws in the game right now.

Hope they bring back all that small advantages/disadvanteges those WW2 Tanks had wich where greatly modelled in Cmx1. Hope the Tiger (or similar) dont get that UBERtank like the M1.

  6. Get it! There aren`t any problems regarding with spotting, nor will there be any!

I had a hard long time to understand this after hours of indoctrination but now i really start seeing it. Not just stupid "feeling" or "witnessing" but really "seeing" the hard facts.

    You get the point?

Its like talking to a wall. You dont have the hard data evaluation value you can do nothing. Even more in parts where BFC is just guessing them self.

As from one good advise here i extracted the essence: "Take it as it is, its just a game and its OUR Game. Accept it and enjoy or leave!" ;)

  7. Quoting Pete`s Posting. That is what im trying to say.

I dont want to have fancy Super High Tec Dream World Spotting Utilitys. But there have to be some chance for Troops looking long enough onto some sector of the Map (with our limited timeframe there must some exaggeration onto the time they are looking onto some sector, we just have 2h ingame that must be bout 4h realtime).

I still cant see what your (Paper TIger, Steves) arguing will change facing the Question of realism:

So what is the US Military doing (and we surly dont have in the Game) to spot enemys hiding?

And the only answer i get is: "hell yeah its difficult/impossible. you need more time etc. .....

Sorry boys. But thats not the answer isn`t it? They arent driving around with hummers and wait that there is someone pulling the trigger.

The "time argument" doesnt really count. US Troops dont conduct such large Operations with such stiff resistance in such a short time (as often stated here in the Forums). So in Game terms we needes some abstractions (havier losses due to shorter game time).

So we need some abstraction (shortener time) on the spotting too.

  8. I dont have Problem with: "Infantry in Buildings that are hiding should be hidden for very long"

I understand that point. But the hidden Infantry almost got all their spotting capabilitiy that they can have inside there without any hiding disadvantages. As i mentioned in another post sometime ago that its true that its almost impossible to spot hidden enemys in buildings i ask that question:

Do the US Forces just go out jumping around and wait for a nervous man (wich isnt simulated in the Game, they are Icecold on Ambush Situations) to pull the Trigger and then react to it?

Thats the only way In Game right now to find hidden enemys. Comeon guys, come off that point of view.

Hard to spot = okay for me

impossible without any negtive modifiers for the hidden guys? = absolut no go!

  9. yeah but my problem with real spotting is that u dont have the right tool on hand.

the RV (Humvee) as Example i am mostly blind to what corners of the map they can look etc, makes them very limited in use.

Also in real time the most military OP´s not under a 2hrs time pressure, no commander of a modern Army would rush in his company to an objective when he expects massive looses. a lot of military ops take waaay longer this is not anymore WWII where high looses are acceptable.

So give me more time and i am glad with spotting like Real World, but with a Gamey 2hrs limit u may watch out in case of spotting rules.

    just my 0.02 cents

I have to quote that. My opinion aswell. Yes it should be hard to spot hidden units. But if you have the Right Tool or Unit on Hand and just watch a short Sector there definatly should be a chance there. As it is right now there isnt a Single Chance in a Million to spot hidden units?

  10. Dont know if im doing good to my Reputation here, but in some point i agree with Adam.

Red Vehicles with Cover Arc do some real weird spotting (or no spotting). I got lots of explenations on this. Got asked for technical data (that i really dont have) but human sense still tells me that its wrong.

On the other hand i would like to appriciate that US Units should be able to sense some Ambush Positions with Target Arc after watching it for some time. Right now its more like:

"Us Boys sneak/Run/ walk out in the Open and onto next Buildings. Waiting to draw fire onto them and then react"

Those Mulitbillioni Dollar Army should be more cabable in spotting hidden Enemys. And Green conscripts shouldnt have icecold nervs waiting exactly for the right moment to get their heads up and shoot the crap out of them.

Other things have gone better and better and 1.11 is the best you can get. Blue Bar and routing Units are the best Features the Game has gotten so far.

If someone would ask me to buy it i would say:

"If you like playing it Singleplayer on some Missions (on Blue side) or start a good Campaign, buy it. For MP it still needs some improvments to be really Fun".

Lets hope on the Normandy Title. But i had some (2-3) good MP battles so far. But another (10 or so) that lacked the Immersion and "allright" feeling that cmX1 gave me.

Anyway, its a good Game. Just started to play the Campaign again. Plays better from Patch to Patch.

  11. Hello.

I downloaded the Patch and game feels better/diffrent now. As in know that noone cares on my feelings but want to have hard facts on Topics :P i observed another good thing (not always bad things) with the patch coming.

I played my reference Scenario wich is the first campaign Game of the CMSF Standard Game. Attacking the border of syria.

As i played the Game i start seeing fleeing syrian units!

Question: Is that new AI Plans in that Campaign? Or can i jump in the Air know Unit that got broken can rout?!

  12. I mentioned more the Spotting and Infodistributing on the C2 ways. As i read in Nasyria those whole thing was stuck. Battalion Radio was overhelmed because every unit wanted to talk something. Noone realy knew where the enemy was. The Company (or was it XO?) was driven into mud and couldnt sent signals becaue of some electricy cables overhead and some buildings that disturbed the radio signals etc.

i knew that this is an "all going wrong" scenario. But there arent any problems with Users using those Communications. As argumented on the "low training" for syrians using this and that equipment there arent any factors (wich i can see, but maybe you can explain me) that are implemented in the game on wich can disrupt c2 or command in general.

another part is those displays (PDA handheld and displays in strykers for example). you see a unit u put your pda stick on it, mark it with some words and every unit on the same satelite link got the estimated position on its grid. Sounds fine, but is it really that fast and accurate in terms of spotting. How often are those Units checking it? (i know you did tell something on the spotting cycles Steve, but cant remember it) Is there somebody in a squad or vehicel looking right onto it?

And another question that comes to my mind:

When do we start getting those "T-72?" spotting back. actually you spot an unit and you know exactly what it is. What about sound contacts?

  13. @steve: thx for the reply. Any raw data or sources where to read about it to compare it with the Ingame behaviour?

@JonS: deleted that "dazzeled by the own propaganda" thing for beeing a tad to harsh. Helps misinterpreting what i actually was trying to say here. Its more like: "They (US ARmy) never faced a real enemy and therefore get a bit too optimistic on their Quipment performance.

Another thing you mentioned in your Post Steve about Tactical and strategical meanings. Like Perforamance on the Battlefield and costs of men and Material. In CMx1 (and i hope with the WW2 Title aswell) we got a Pointsystem that helped find the Value of a unit. As it is hard in modern Warfare to find a value (disscussion on cherrypickings etc.) for a unit. What about talking on how hard Losses for the Syrian and US Boys must be weighted to call it a "draw" or "total victory" for one Side?

And there is the problem again. It have to be done by the Sceneditor and everyone of them interpret it way other. Changing the Hard Facts of the Game (like Weapon or Tank performance) would make changes for everyone in the Game.

Its not easy to say what i want to say because my english is limited.

thx! for the reply again because that was one of the Points (missing statement on the russian community threat) that made me bit angry.

I would like to see some sources on what datas you modelled M1 Tanks in the Game or maybe can explain why you choose such bad reaction and spotting times for the Bmps?

im ready and steady. Really want to know.

Greetz from not so angry anymore

  14. This was aimed at you Taki. You going to have to provide a little, no, a LOT more than "this is broken" and "I think ...".

Just read Ali-Babas post. Why do i need more then that? Its broken i think. Even a 15 Year old boy without having any idea of modern warfare should recognize that there is something wrong with spotting and Target&Track.

Especially on short Ranges in Urban warfare those BMP (for example performe not good enough). On the other Hand there should be more reaction Time for other Units in Squad (like Tanks, Infantry, Stryker) to see what one of their attached units see.

US Army is strong on the Raw Data Sheets Data.

What about those lighting fast reaction Times. What about Weakpoint of the M1A1 Rear Gas Turbine Hits? What about FF Incidences?

Raw Data Sheet Facts (aswell as US Propaganda) is on the US Side. But read about the Nasyhria accident. There is sooo much that can go wrong with those High Tec Forces.

On the other Hand i can life with the actual balance in Multiplayer if those US Losses are more heavily counted!

If the US Reports are true and there is no single M1A1 lost in FIrefights in GW2 and Nasyria was a Fiasco to the US Forces? Why there isnt a loss of 3 Stryker and lets say 20 KIA not a total loss to the US Side?

As i said, i can live with the dysbalance (aka "asymetric" warfare)

    if

    a) Losses to the US Boys count way heavier

    or

    B) the Syrians and US Troops perform as they should

i would like to mention Cmx1 here.

Raw Data on a Panther G is good. But it had the "Geschossfalle" wich was a Constructionfault and made it vulnerable. There is nothing simulated like that in CMx2.

  15. I'm not sure if I understand what you mean...the BMPs are in reality indeed blind compared to the Bradleys and Abrahams, because the latter do have all the fancy stuff build in. The Abrahams has once been told a computer on tracks.

They are fast yes, but not as fast as they are in Game. It has been talked alot and i dont want to disscuss that anymore.

    Only question is:

"Will there be some changes on the Quipment that will change the balance /red/Blue in the Game?"

Or do i have to focus my hopes on the WW2 Title?
