  1. @Paper Tiger: To be honest. i really like the Idea and the Mission Designt that you made there. Correction in that Scenario would be nice but more of the Problem is that MOST of the Scenarios ever made are bit offbalance. Points for Syria should be WAY greater when inflicting UK/US Casualties.

With Point #3: I just played a PBEM against a Finnish Person. Quickbattle. I had a Bunch of Bulldogs and Enforcers without any Infplattons, just support Weapons and portable GMG. All right with that. But he didnt get any Points (or me any Minus Points) for pounding the High Civilan Area with 9x155mm Barrages. No Minus Points for that. Are there any Scens out where you get Minus Points playing as UK/US for destroying Civilian Structures?

Watch the German Airstrike Call on 2 Fueltrucks. Tactical it was the right descision but a poltical disaster. Germans Minister of Defense had to go. So im still thinking that modelling the "Downside" or the Problems that NATO and Coalation Forces are facing are not well modelled in the Game.

  2. If you examine traditional, well supported insurgencies, what is remarkable is that in both Iraq and Afghanistan large scale deaths of allied troops have been absent and the enemy have adopted an entirely sensible policy of small engagements. Their greatest weapon is the Wests political weakness to continue operations, due to political factors, and their lack of any democratic accountability, allowing a decades long strategy to be used. Neither of these factors would be strongly in evidence in the SF world.

And thats the Point i disagree with you. All thoses Factors are evidend in a SF World. Why should they keep on Fighting if there is not the Hope that with countinusly few losses on the Weastern Side they will retreat that country some day?

Those Few losses should matter more in any analysis after the Battle.

  3. Hi there, i got into the PBEM Games so far and have Fun playing them. THe Mark Erza H2H Games are really okay and im enjoying much. But its much a Factor of Balance from the Scenario Designer.

Reason why i wrote this is a PBEM that i quit called "The Crucibel" wich is recommended for H2H. After 20Minutes i quit because Uk Troops ran in perfect Ambushes qiping out whole Suqads of Syrian Green Troops that cant hit a S*** :)

Thats okay to me if thats the Way you simulate the Superior of Imperial Troops and Equipment, im fine with that somehow. But what i dislike is that you dont simulate it well enough.

After i quit i got 16! Points for UK Casualties. 3 Dead, 1 MIA and 2 more wounded. That really sucked. Modelling the UBERtroops with their UBERequipment is fine to me. Breaking every well setup Ambush is also okay if thats the Way the UK/US can handle them.

But whats definatly not okay is 16 Points for so much casualties. Reading Battle of the 2 Bridges (Sniper Alley was its name or something like that) this Mission was a Political Disaster with around loosing 30 US Soldiers that Day and 1-2 APCs!

So everything fine. But if you modell the Superior of the US/UK Army than also modell the Downside of that Like CIvilian Casualtys (in this Scen you can pound the **** of Civilian Buildings without getting any Minus Points for that) and the delicate Situation those HighTec Soldiers are in.

  4. Just playing around abit with the Game in 1.21 and noticed an UK Sniper Squad got a First Shot First Kill. Is it the good Sniper Rifle from the Brits (like in Manual and on the Net) that has got good First Shot Hit Ratio or does the Sniperteam improved since 1.21?

I really like it that way. Since now they only was good Recon Teams and couldnt do any damage to the Enemy.

  5. Hello,

if there is still anyone out for a PBEM Game im on it. I had some replys by Email but noone answered after that.

So if you like to play a Scenario against me then Choose one and sent me your Setup File. I like to Mirror the Games and see what the Outcome is after switching sides. So assymetric Warefare is okay to me.

Im living in Germany and can do 1 or 2 Turns per Day.

Sent me an Email @ casabonita4@gmx.de

  6. Hello there,

after getting light up bye the AAR Hcrof is posting i just want to give a PBEM Style Game a chance now. Played Realtime now and then and never was satisfied.

Im looking for an Oppenent that can play a Scenario by Choice for two Times with Sideswitching wich can be Assymetrical but no "Slaughter the Syrians".

If you can play a Turn or two a Day (sometimes more, sometimes less) and have the Basic knowledge of Combat Mission in General and you can play a Scenario blind then you are welcome.

Send me a PM in the Forums and lets see what we can make out of it.

    Greetz from Germany

  7. Taki,

Speak for yourself :D There are a lot of people, and I mean a LOT of people, who disagree with such characterizations. I play only RealTime and I have no problems controlling at least two companies, sometimes as much as a battalion (depending on objectives). I rarely pause. RT and WeGo require different skill sets, that's all.

Replay for TCP/IP games is not an option we're planning on exploring for a little while yet.

Until then there is PBEM. It's not as efficient as TCP/IP WeGo, but it does work.

    Steve

Sorry Steve but i disagree. If you are good with the Shortcuts and are familar with the CM Series (thats what i am) you can do some sort of "Leading" but nothing compared to We-Go Mode.

Its nothing more then a Clickfest. Maybe some little Chinese Starcraft 733t have what it takes to make a Battalion.

Its right when you say that you have some sort of control. But its totally dissatisfying.

Hope i will find someone for the good old PBEM Multiplayer then. If someone read this and agrees. Write a PM.

  8. Hello.

Today i took out CMSF again to play with a Friend per TCP/IP. Had in mind that there was finally a Turn-Based Gameplay again as it was meaningful in older Titles. Reason why? You cant really controll anything similar to the Realworld with more then 2 Squads! Its absolutly nobrainer and nontactical without ability to pause the Game. You never can take True Command over your Units.

So is there a way to implement this Keyfeature for Multiplayer for CMSF in the Future? What about Normandy? As it is right now to me: no TCP/IP Turnbased = no buy

  9. humm...it seems the propaganda nowadays is much more powerful than the nazi one.No kidding...many people in our times think about the ww2 germans as about evil murderers determined to kill everibody.Strangely, from the tales of my grandparents and of all other older people that I been talking to,it seems the germans had an impeccable behavior in all respects.Well now..who should I trust...?my grandpa or the official propaganda??

Agree, what i see on the Last Pages is some US-Boys talking the Germans to crap. Look at your own Tanks like M1. Any Strategical Problems with it modelled in the Game (tactical Level)?

    NO!

The Reason why Germany lost the War is that they never ever could win on a Strategic Level. What should they do? Occupy the whole world? Supress whole Europe for lets say 60 Years? For all the Great Mass Production and Ressources grabbing by USA and Russia but the better optimised Warmachine in Terms of effectivness was the German once. ;)

But dont whine. You`ll get your weak Tiger and Panther for sure ;) Just take a look at that Russian Stuff in Shock Force and you can relaxe and take a Deep Breath!

  10. As i read in an Articel on the SMAW i fond this one:

"The 9mm spotting rounds are ballistically matched to the rockets and increase the gunner's first round hit probability."

There are some Phosphor Ignited Targeting Rounds for the SMAW. Arent they modelled in the Game?
