In no way do I assert myself to be center of the Gaussian distribution neurotypical...

Quote o' the month, my friend...you're all good in my book, FWIW

From the sounds of it they have the first eastern front game, the new modern game plus the refresh of the first modern game, the 3.0 upgrade plus a pack for CMBN. Not to mention a few patches along the way. I think that will chew up 2014 pretty easily.
Hmmm...makes sense.
In that case -- kohlenklau et al., go for it!
-
OK, we're bringing the Bulge 44 mod over to CMBN.
I think it is still worth the effort.
Sounds great, but...aren't we anticipating the full Bulge game to be released by BFC within the next year or so?
-
Fantastic news, Steve -- thanks for the update! Ostfront 3.0 will be fabulous...

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.....
Well, I don't know if Aris has had his well-earned vacation yet, but if not, he'd better hurry! My thoughts exactly...cannot wait to see his artistic handiwork directed Eastwards...

Try this thread for some advice on order of installing things...
And in short, I think Ian is right...

Really amazing stuff...
I'm thinking to myself..."Self, wouldn't it be great to have some kind of utility available that somehow automatically assigns ID numbers to vehicles according to their platoon and company designation as specified in the scenario or campaign background information?!"
Probably not realistic, I know...but one can dream, can't one?

Sure you are,
Indeed...I sounded a bit uber-grog there...sorry. But since I've been playing the two Panzer Lehr campaigns for CMBN ("Panzers Marsch!" and "A Bloody Ride") I've been diving into the history of the Division, etc. [The beauty of CM sims, right??!!). During this research I found this interesting discussion around Lehr markings (Kettler would be proud!):
Panzer Lehr SdKfz 251 Markings
Thus my original question...
By the way...I join the crowd once again and commend you on your ridiculously awesome modding efforts. You're the shiznit...
-
Outstanding, Fuser! It looks to me like the "Scholze insignia" on that Lehr vehicle in the foreground (Pz.Gren. Lehr Rgt. 901) has been updated to what is considered to be the newer, "correct" design...am I right?
What else is in store with this new Pack? Can't wait!!

It's been proposed before but I'd like to have all units off the map during the deployment phase. A TO&E window from which you could drag and drop formations. This window could also be used for quick navigation between the formations during the battle, it could also show current state of the unit (suppressed, engaged, taking casualties etc.) This would provide a better situational awareness for the player making the game more user friendly.
As others have said here, I love this idea. It would be excellent to have the command structure of your entire force handy in this way.

Unrealistic comparisons to an impossible unreachable ideal does nobody any good.
Here here, Mikey. Sage advice indeed -- in gaming and real life. I could have consulted you for free instead of paying a therapist...!

Can we have the ability to indirect fire, without the whole chain of command and associated delay, if called by the immediate HQ unit within voice or visual contact?
Yes, I think so -- as long as the immediate HQ has LOS to the target.
My 81mm group is listed as an on-board artillery asset, so if I want to use a FO for this weapon system I'll have to set up the appropriate communication chain. Not yet quite sure how to do that, but I'll give it a shot (so to speak )...
-
Yes, great to see the upcoming addition of in-vehicle firing ability!
During my quick research on this topic yesterday, I found a photo of a 251/2 that had a mortar baseplate strapped to the outside of the rear doors. Of course, now that I want to find that photo again, it has vaporized...but I really did see it. So I wonder if that was simply an extra baseplate, or if it suggests some preference to use the weapon outside the vehicle. Nothing more than idle speculation, I guess...sorry I can't recreate the photo

The CMx1 games modeled fire from mortar halftracks, either by direct sighting from the vehicle (a bad idea), but typically via having HQ eyes doing the spotting. Such fires were treated as onboard fires and were highly responsive. Am pretty sure the mortars couldn't be dismounted from the mortar HTs, but my memory's fuzzy.
Since I can't find the 251/2 in the CMBN or CW manual, I presume it arrived with MG.
Thanks for the info, John. I haven't played CMBB for quite some time, but I also do not remember ever firing the mortars after dismounting from their 251/2 vehicle.
And yes, I also did not find the 251/2 in the CMBN Manual...I forgot to mention that earlier! Since I'm playing the base CMBN game (patched to 1.11), the vehicle clearly arrives before MG.
-
Excellent -- thanks to you both for your help on this.
This will be my first "real" use of indirect-fire mortars (other than the tutorial, of course), so I shall troll the boards if I have difficulties...looking forward to seeing the metal rain down on my pixelenemies in St. Jean de Daye!!

Howdy all,
I'm playing the last battle in "Panzers Marsch!" (yeah, I know...a bit behind the curve) and I have a trio of Sd.Kfz. 251/2 mortar carriers at my disposal. I just want to make sure I use them most effectively. So...I assume the mortars can be deployed inside the vehicle? Can I also deploy outside the vehicle if I so choose? Which is best? Any differences in accuracy, ROF, etc.? Any advice?
Thanks!

Add me to the list of hopeless Tolkien geeks. Wrote 400 pages of LOTR/Silmarillion derived stories at age 12, with lavish illustrations, while nearly flunking out of middle school. Followed by a Silmarillion strat wargame with hand drawn hexes and over 10,000 counters. Yup, the same bizarre mix of ADD meets OCD that brought you Ramadi. With a freeking side order of crazy. Fortunately, the Aspergian Gods also gave me reasonable quant skilz.
Wow...this is hardcore, LLF!
Sounds a lot more interesting than your standard middle school experience...

When I get downtime I want to think about nothing. These games are perfect for that.
I know what you mean here, but if you're like me and most everybody else on this forum, you end up thinking a lot about your next move on the pixellated battlefield...you're just not thinking about work. And that's a good thing -- especially in a high-stress job like yours in the ER.
Happy gaming!

How is that M-10 visible on the far edge of the map?
What difficulty setting are you using?
I think this will be fun to follow...something a little different from the textbook Hardenbarger-esque tactics we've grown to know and love...
(nothing personal, Crecy...most of don't play like Bil!)

I've been drooling over these threads for some time now...Ithikial working on Windsor, Rokko working on a 12th SS campaign with his monster Can area map, Paper Tiger doing one on the Road to Carpiquet...gaaahhh!
I'm reading Hubert Meyer's 12th SS history and see such fantastic opportunities for campaigns for both German and CW forces around Caen...any updates on final products? They would be instant winners!!

Blouses too.
My hearty chuckle of the day (even if a bit sophomoric!), generating a few confused looks from other patrons in my local coffee shop...my thanks to you!

Many thanks for this link, AstroCat! Will definitely check it out...

Thanks AstroCat -- just what I wanted.
And I now know why I hadn't seen this mod before or why I couldn't find it -- it's for CMFI, which is not yet in my library. Too bad there isn't something like this for CMBN...or...is there?

What are the characteristics of the map that make it necessary to own MG? Presumably you would need the Commonwealth module to actually play a Hill 112 scenario?
(This may be obvious, but I don't own MG yet... )
