  1. There was more single main line track in France at the start of WW2 than there was double main line. It is cheaper to lay one line with passing sidings than it is to lay two lines.

You must also remember the physical properties of rail as well. Things such as elevated road beds would make good cover for infantry and even better hull down positions.

Another thing. Will we see telephone lines running alongside tracks and into cities, or does this require too much coding for what is a minor detail?

  2. Blitzkreig in WWI? I believe a key point of blitzkrieg is the use of armored forces to break through. Kind of hard to do wen your tanks move 8 mph tops. Arial support is also part of this tactic. Kind of hard to get from inaccurate biplanes carrying 150 lbs of bombs.

Blitzkreig in Poland, the West, Russia? It depends on if you're a purist. Some people say these were blitzkrieg attacks as the basic principles were there. Others say some or all were not really blitzkreig because they didn't precisely follow all of the guidelines.

I say it doesn't really matter whether or not they were true blitzkreig attacks because the Germans won in all of these instances, and resoundingly. "Blitzkreig" is an overused catch-all for German offensives, though some were actually blitzkriegs.

  3. This would all depend on the SP's point of view. Since you can look at the field from above, you know how large the stand of trees is and exactly where you want to put the shells. However, the gun only sees 5-10 feet into the trees, max. It has no idea what is behind those 5-10 feet. I agree that this capability would be nice, but in real life spotter planes had to be used to direct fire onto locations like these.

Also, your flat trajectory will make it likely that you will hit a big tree some meters from your aiming point.
