  1. @Hpt. Lisse: I have no experience with their forums - never been there. But it seems Ccodemasters have their own way of telling people something. After all, there should be a reason why they won´t publish the game any more...

Anyway, I´m hoping for a campaign mode - the only thing I´m really missing in CM. It woild have been nice to play the whole war with the same unit and get to know every virtual ´character´... ;)

  2. I have toadmit, though, that ´Heroes: Soldiers of World War 2´ (aka ´Outfront´) REALLY impressed me. I´ve not yet managed to play every campaign and single mission (the UK campaign IS hard, after all), but it´s definitely a game worth a look - if just for playing not yet another RTS... and, maybe, the once called ´Wartime Command´ might prove to be an entertaining alternative. I have hope.

  3. @Soddball&Bigduke6: I had about a dozen panthers or so - but everyone of them fighting on different enemies. And I guess that score is one in a thousand. If I played the same scenario again, I surely would loose all my tanks. Don´t knwo why the Hand of Fate granted me such luck...

I agree that under the above mentioned circumstances my panther wouldn´t last long - but I just talked about tank vs. tank. Maybe I got a bit carried away - I´m a great Panther fan... sorry.

  4. @Bigduke6: If you take six T-34/85´s I think it may be rather bad odds. If we´re talking about the standard T-34 type, then the odds are in my favour.

But I managed a while ago a rather impressive number of kills with a Panther A: 3x T-34/85 M44´s, 2x SU-100´s, 4x T-43 M43´s, 2x SU-85´s, 1x T-34/85 M43. I WAS on the defensive though, but only because I couldn´t go into the offensive as 4 times my number in tanks came rushing at me... ;) I have screenshot made, but I think you won´t believe me even if I sent to you...

  5. @Bigduke6: But a Panther with a good crew is more than a match for your six T-34´s... ;)

@Abott: Regarding the AK-47, I´ve heard different. True, it is cheap and maybe the ammunition ist not that reliable, but if the overall design had proven to be unefficient, it wouldn´t have been used as much, would it? And I heard from a reliable source (a man who used during his military service) that the Ak-47 is able to shoot anything smaller than 7.62mm WP ammunition - so just take more reliable ammo from captured enemies, 5.56mm NATO rounds, for example... :D

  6. Then try and take those marching boots, wet them thoroughly and march a few dozen miles with them being wet. And the pants, too. ;)

Maybe it was rather cold and the soldiers needed dry feet after fording... I just don´t know, but I think I´ll remember having read about similar incidents.

  8. @Dave H: I think if the numbers had been more equal, the war might have turned out very differently. But that´s beside the point. Just using irony. Though it seems I have to admit I should cease to use it. I´m not understood when I do. ;)

And, as I already told, I´m a German. Just 22 years old, but I take some proud in the technical accomplishments my country has achieved. And apart from being more reliable (and the G versions proved to be, from what I know), the Panther excelled in nearly every aspect. Regarding CM the T-34/85 seems indeed to be a better tank than the Panther. But if the panther was a bad tank, nobody would call it to be ´one of the best tanks - if not the best tank - of the war.´

  9. Well, from what I can make out, i´d say they´re going to wade through a deeper river or soemthing like that. If you look closely, there is a bridge in the background. And it would be sensible, too, to keep your boots and trousers dry...

Could aslo be a photo of a few reenactors trying make you think what the hell they are doing there... :D

  11. See ´General Discussion.´ I know it wasn´t, but I opened a new thread anyway. just to amuse myself and others around here.

I nontheless hope I´ll find a new girlfriend soon that´s impressed with CM and is willing to play it - I´ll tell as soon as this occasion arises! :D

  12. Just wanted to ask. AndrewTF is doing a fine job with the Tigers, maybe I can convince him of tkaing on the Panthers next. it´s just that I noticed a few faults withe the stock textures - though the camo patterns look really cool! If I could, I´d do it myself, but right now I´m not even able to camo your yellow base textures... :( If I ever could visit one of you modders and learn how it is done... *dream*

  13. Actually, I know that, but thanks. Apart from that I didn´t refer to version D1 and D2. From my knowledge there NEVER existed a D version with cast cupola - that has to be an early A. It is very probable that the remainig D´s were refitted to be early A´s. But then, there is no difference between a so-called ´late D´ and an early A, is there?

I have done extensive research on the topic and would like to know what sources you have your information from. I don´t claim to be a specialist, but it seems to me from what I´ve read that most researchers were mistaken regarding ´late D´s.´ And, apart from that, is the early D in CM supposed to be a D1?

  14. I completely agree. Great uniforms and stuff... also I´m a very great fan of the Panther tank (in my opinion one of the best tanks of all times - and guess what: the Germans are still building the best tanks ;) ) and, after all, I´m German myself. And a little bit proud of what my grandparents achieved against overwhelming odds - though the cause behind the war and everything that went with it are highly questionable...
