  1. I've just uploaded a new mod for NATO. NATO Icons for German, Dutch and Canadian forces! All credit goes to Angryson as these are actually his, all I did was rename the files. I did change the MG icon to represent a medium machine gun instead of a light MG (two hash marks instead of one) otherwise the Icons are the same. I just uploaded it so it may take a bit for BFC to put it up at the Repository. It is also available at GreenAsJade's CMSF Mod Warehouse.

  2. True they did do that and that vastly increases the ROF they can output for sure, but its still not a gunship. Likewise the USMC uses Hueys in conjunction with their Cobras but they arent in the game. As far as I know the Canadian Army flies the CH-146 Griffon and CH-147 Chinook.

    I saw it on the list too and was actually suprised it was on the list but wasnt suprised when it didnt make the final cut. THe BO-105 should have made the cut in my opinion.

    Question#1. I take it you need the first game (Shock Force) to be able to play the rest of the add ons?

    That is correct. You don't need Marines to play the Brits, but you do need SF to add these and eventually NATO.

    Question#2 How powerful is the editor? Does it let you combine allied forces together, much like the old Combat Missions?

    All the missions/campaigns in the game were made using the editor. It's quite capable in my infinitly uninformed opinion. Yes you can mi and match all forces in the editor...Brits and Americans can fight Syrians....or each other if you want.

    I am currently playing Paper Tiger's Crucible. I’m only about 15 minutes in and the action has already started. At the beginning of the scenario I only have available some Jackals and land rovers….I position them and dismount some of the crews for a closer look.

  5. So how do you perform 'recon by fire'?

    Do you just hose metal at any and all positions you *think* an enemy might be hiding and see what the results are? Do squads really have enough ammo for such tactics? Is it 'gamey' or used in RL as well?

    Generally the way I do it is look at the terrain and find the places I would hide then hit it with a minute or two of HMG fire. I agree with Jonny, dont use your squads to recon by fire. Use coax, and other vehicle mounted MGs. If you dont have any vehicles us the squad MGs. Just be cognizant of how long you fire as you dont want to waste your squad MG ammo if you dont have to. Personally I like coax and 25mm for knocking on the door to see if anyone is home.

    As for real life use, I think it will depend largely on the ROE. If its a true "hot" war then yes shoot first and ask later. If its more of a counter insurgency type mission then you will have to be more disciplined with your fire.

  6. well i have recieved this error message as well. it occured, or rather, keeps occuring around the same time as when fox company arrives during the pooh mission. i have played the mission several times and happens at approximately the same time. also i tried saving the game along the way and at a certain point when i try to restart a saved game the moment i click on the saved game button on the main menu the game crashes. once i go into the folder and delete the file, the game works fine.

    strange since i have played the usmc campaign to its end before but now it seems to not work. at first i thought it was the new campaign file with the fix but i switched back to the original file and the same thing happens.

    not sure if anyone has any thoughts on this or not. also i tried expading the virtual memory and that does not seem to help.
