  1. I am running Vista, and I did run as administrator but still had the same result. I think it has to do with the 1.31 patch as the game runs fine as v1.30 but as soon as I install the patch I get the error that I talked about in my last post and NATO no longer appears. Its actually a bit frustrating since when the game worked just fine before I reinstalled it on my new hard drive.

  2. Tried reinstalling again last night and when I added patch 1.31 I get a window that says this:

    C:\Program Files\Battlefront\Combat Mission Shock Force\Modules\CMSF NATO Module.exe

An error has occured while trying to rename a file in the destination directory:

    Move File failed; code 5

    Access is denied

Then it allows me the option of aborting, ignoring, or retrying.

  3. 1755 Zulu Automated Weather

    Wind 260 at 15 gust 19

    Visibility unrestricted

    2,600 broken, 3,500 overcast

    Temperature 25

    Dewpoint 20

    Altimeter 2999

ILS runway 23 left approach in use

    Landing runway 23 left

    Departing runway 23 right

Notice to airmen, runway 18 closed

Readback all runway assignments and hold short instructions

Use caution for birds in the vicinity of the active runway

Advise the controller on initial contact, you have India

    Is that better??????

  4. I was messing with the editor and had a few questions about it. How does one place a bridge? I can only seem to place the small foot bridge and get it to show up in the 3D view. The bigger bridges dont seem to show up. I messed with the elevation but they still didnt show up.

Also when I changed the parameters to fog or any rain other than light rain and the horizon is black like the .bmp file is not there. The sky (directly above the ground) is there but the rest is not. Any ideas? I have a NVIDIA graphics card....is that the problem?

  5. Vortex ring state or settling with power is a condition that results from a rotory-wing aircraft settling into its own downwash. Normally the induced flow from the blade (downward wind created by the blade as it creats lift) is highest at the blade tip and decreases along the blade as it nears the center of the disk. When entering a near vertical descent the induced flow near the center of the disk can actually become up flow (wind velocity is now up through the disk). There is still induced flow at the blade tip and some portion inward from there. If there is not enough power to slow the descent then the point along the blade where the induced flow and up flow meet cause vortex rings to form along the blade span. These vortices, which form normally at the tip of the blade, are now occuring along the blade itself causing a loss in lift.

The only way to get out of settling with power is to transition into lateral flight and based on the way the compound looked they may not have had the room to do that...but that is only speculation, I wasnt there, and I dont know what really caused the aircraft to crash/land hard.

  6. Welcome Bradles

I seem to be the first in here to respond but Im sure I am not the only one top welcome you to the forums..

    Anyway:

1: Yes....Im a gringo and I love playing other nationalities reguardless....they all play a little different and its most definitly fun to try different tactices. The US Army and USMC have different tactics as well as the Germans and Canadians...absolutely worth every penny.

2: Not sure what you are asking here....

3: The number of scenarios is based on exactly how well you play the missions and the path you choose, but i believe that they are pretty close. Maybe the designers could shed a bit more light on this as Im am just an amature!

  7. Alright, so I reinstalled the games (all 4). All four were playible. I then installed 1.31 and suddenly I was unable to play the NATO module. The icon at the bottom of the start screen was not there and the scenarios in the Battle screen were greyed out and not selectable.....so I'm not sure what to do at this point....any suggestions??

  8. OK so here is my situation: two weeks ago my hard drive had to be replaced. I contacted BFC wanting to reset my licenses for the various games. I was informed very quickly that I did not need this as my second license was still good (BFC was very good about getting back to me on this). So I took the disks and began installing the game again. I installed CMSF then Marines then the British. I then updated to 1.21 and then installed NATO. The next step would have been to install 1.31 but when I did that I got an error saying I couldnt install the patch. After several attempts I ignored it and finished the install. I would then go to play SF and the NATO module would not appear. I then reinstalled NATO and tried to play it with out 1.31 patch. The scenarios showed up but when I went to the QB page this is what came up:

Im working with vista, I did not have any issues when I had downloaded the game before the harddrive issue. Im at a loss as to what might be the problem.

  9. I think the first time I saw in reference to CMBO I was on an AMPS (Armor Modeling and Preservation Society) website looking up some reference pics for a model I was doing...anywho there was a window advertiesment at the bottom of the page showing a dark sky and snowy farmland with a road. And on that road was a continuos stream of AFVs and then it would randomly show "Combat Mission". I clicked on it and explored around. But I couldnt figure out where to buy this game. I had always been facinated by table top gaming but never had the space, money, or more importantly players to do anything other than build the models. So now seeing this I was very interested. The other problem was that in 2000 I didnt own my own computer so the interest some what faded.

    Fast forward to 2002.....

Im in Monterey California and I walk in to a Game Stop. Just browsing around I walk over into the "used" section. There on the shelf is a copy of CMBB. Honestly I dont remember if I made the correlation to CMBO or not but i picked it up. I can still remember the first battle I played (but not the name!! :-D) it was raining, it was fall, and I was hooked!!!

Funny thing is its the only game that I have ever consistantly played without anythought at all. I have a few other games but they have been played once and put back in the box. CM series is beyond replayable. The graphic may not be up to par but the fun had on each game is more than enough to make up for it!

Thank you BFC for making such an outstanding product!

  10. I don't see that as neccessarily gamey. As long as all the bridges along a river aren't blocked I can see it used as a way to "influence" your crossing point. And if you happen to be crossing and your vehicle gets hit on the bridge that may be the point at which to retire and come up with another scheme of manouver.

But that is just my opinion!

  11. I have neglectated this scenario for awhile now and had some free time this weekend and made some changes based on the comments I was given by the testers.

    Changes include:

    Map size was changed

    AI was adjusted

Both BLUFOR and REDFOR sizes were adjusted

I am looking for a volunteer to test this new version as I am completely biased now. Anyhelp will be appreciated.

    Thanks
