  1. After watching the movie "The Boat" ("Das Boot") I was wondering wether Gibraltar should be closed for submarines as well. I think submarines sould be able to attempt to sneak through the port of Gibraltar. Depending on enemy presence in and around Gibraltar the attempt could: a.) fail and / or b.) result in the sub taking damage c.) the sub being destroyed.
  2. I am not really sure if i like the idea of having pow camps in a game. As a player I may not necessarily want to capitalize from inhumane treatment in pow camps ("hard labor +3"). Especially the treatment of russian pows in german captivity bordered on extermination. We are pretty close actually to asking for the inclusion of concentration camps. Thats just my opinion why I would not support the idea of pow camps in sc2. If HC should pick that idea up however, some suggestions: Pows are generated when an infantry or Tank unit is destroyed. The number of pows generated depends on unit type, unit strenght at the beginning of the turn and random chance. The total number of pows held captive generates a possibility of partisans appearing in your homeland But my favority solution regarding pows - do not include it as an aspect of the game!
  3. According to WalkOn media publishing, West Point has voiced interest to use SC2 for the strategic - tactical training of recruits! How cool is that! Imagine HC operating with a huge budget or terif giving lectures at West Point But seriously if that turns out to be true, the good man HC should eventually get a really nice paycheck (Just to invest it in an even better SC3 of course). BTW the same game magazine that posted this news has SC2 listed for february 23rd. Hope at least one of the news turns out to be true (preferably the West Point Part of it).
  4. I think the Soviet Unions war readiness is rising to quickly in SC 1. The leadership of the Sovjet Union was totally unsuspecting of and equally unprepared for "Operation Barbarossa" in the summer of '41. In my opinion the SU should not enter the war any sooner than summer 1942. I can see why in terms of gameplay and balance an earlier war entry is favorable but at least it should take the allied player some major diplomatic ressouces to achieve this. Possibly there could be also an extended "SU prepares for war" period that increases the strenght of the soviet forces each round to give the axis player an incentive to attack as soon as possible. Or there could be a popup window asking for concessions in eastern europe by the axis player to decrease the Soviets war readiness. Or something completely different (Yes I am talking to you Mr. Edwin P. ).
  5. A german games magazine that I just read has the release of SC2 scheduled for early december! Unless this is just wishfull thinking we all could be playing it next week. Hooray!
  6. How about giving the player the opportunity to assign HQ support to specififc units nearby? (For example: When I have an HQ awaiting transport for "sealion" it will at times support other units that are just waiting for tranport instead of my airfleets nearby.) And how about negotiating a miltary alliance, ceasefire, peace treaty or an early surrender with other countries ? I would sometimes like to take a somewhat more active role in diplomacy. Sorry if I should be duplicating posts ...
