  1. I agree, but what do you play that does not have them RCMP?

I'd love to know some games I can grab that are less scripted....

The flight sims I have all have scripted missions although the fighting - like in thus - is not.

  2. Got this one now snappy.... its a one of a kind game really as its PT boats subject matter.

The rudder does auto centre itself

I can enter all positions as expected

I have to play it some more but it does look great and seem to be what I played in the Russian demo - a barrel load of fun....

What it does need is a mission editor...

You know their is already an expansion in the works for the med?

  3. snappy I am about to take a look at this game

some of the games I like playing are:

    silent hunter

    il2 sturmovik

    rise of flight

    steel beasts pro PE

    combat mission shock force

    arma2

However even if i find this is not super ridiculously accurate but still a fair representation I will not be too upset.... as long as nothing seems ridiculously arcady. Because their is simply nothing like this out there!!!

"Read manual. It is definitely sim lite, like the WWI German submarine game, but it doesn't look stupid or like "Call of Duty". Operating a torpedo boat isn't exactly like operating the BISMARCK. If you play from the bridge, and use the torpedo sight, you will be getting the experience. Torpedo boat warfare appears well-modeled with high speed producing a huge bow wave cluing the opposition to your presence at night. If you are in a tight spot, you can toggle chemical smoke. You have to choose your moment carefully against the big stuff because one hit and you are matchsticks. You can't even take much from the guns of other torpedo boats (as I have learned twice). Online servers are available to create your own brawls. In surface naval sims, you have to get involved in command of other vessels as well as your own, and a lot of detail becomes ridiculous, because you are playing the role of a flotilla commander, not engineer, gunner, or other crew positions. This game seems to have concentrated on creating a clean system for naval tactics, and appears to have a good system for operating your own boat, and giving orders to others."

I just purchased this and am downloading.

  5. Have you ever played wolves of the pacific snappy? No really that did not repeat itself?

In the Russian demo I played I could enter all the stations I needed too, the bridge, the gun station turrets...... I sincerely hope battlefront have not changed the game so much from the Russian demo.....

  6. I would like to see an IDF module. However I would like to see a NATO one more from the standpoint that it may bring greener fields of battle and some cold war like mods.

As for an IDF module, the equipment is good, but I don't remember any real set piece battles taking place with them. The scenarios would have to be ficticious.

One thing I do not want is a seperate stand alone game, I am all about the modules. If it aint pluggable and collectable for the greater game. Then its nothing to me.

BTW I'm no Waffen SS expert. But I was in a military bookshop last week. The bookshop had just moved and the two owners were having a conversation. One was whinging that they had sooo many people

ask where there SS section was. He did not understand and could not wait until the shine wore off the subject. He wanted the SS section seperated into SS and Waffen SS just to make the lines a little less gray.

The other was saying that the shine will never wear off and that new younger people came in all the time asking for it.

Not to derail this thread but did the waffen SS in the field commit any more noteable attrocities? Remembering that allied propaganda would have covered some with "victors" perogative? I'm just curious as to whether they

were responsable for more than a few thousand civilain deaths with intent to kill inoccents on purpose?

If its too touchy thats fine, maybe I will have to ask for that section to find out myself lol

  7. Joe you know they say that New Zealand accent is closest to the original Queens English, an Australian accent is not too far from that. So I hear. Believe it or not I know a few Australians too and they sound closer to Britians's English than a US accent does.

Now if Battlefront have done the accents with actual ww2 British Sailors - Well then we are all saved.

P.S. Have you got the game yet?

  8. It does seem a little silly. But reading all of the accounts in the PT boat books I have now their does not seem to have been too many fatalities to small arms fire in most missions. And certainly the germans had armour around their bridge areas.

At log range this is semi believeable, a lot of battles seem to have been about smoking it up and whizzing around at long range until you find a gap to rush in with torps.

Offcourse a short range battle is entirlely different.

" The game is mission based rather than having a dynamic campaign in the mould of Silent Hunter. As released in Australia consists of 6 episodes. (The forthcoming Battlefront release may have changes).

1 Naval Academy: 3 missions playable as Royal Navy

2 Exercises at Weser: 5 missions playable as German or Royal Navy

3 The English Channel:5 missions playable as German vs Royal Navy

4 Cold Waters (Baltic Sea) 5 missions playable as USSR

5 Land In sight 5 missions playable as Germany or USSR

6.Bonus Episode consisting of 4 missions

Note that although the some of the episodes have geographical titles there is little coastline in the game most missions consist only of open sea or open sea with a couple of nameless small islands. This is probably due to the fact that the maps are only about 25KM square.

The "South Gambit" screens and video suggest we will we will see more actual coastline incorporated in the addon when it appears, hopefully Battlefront will be publishing that too?

As it stands the game has no editor at present, Akella have stated they are working on one and hopefully will put one out at some point but the mission scripts are in a very open and easy to edit format so the talented modders over at the likes of Subsim.com or marinesims.de will no doubt put together a nice editor at some point.

You can put together multiplayer matches against bots but there is no access to the higher tactical functions in this mode it is more of a "deathmatch" style approach."
