How many gamers have been divorced since getting hooked on these games, that would not be to surprising!!!
I like the notion of setting up the town I am living in also. Thanks for the input, I will be mapping it also. Can not wait to see that baby go up in flames.

And to just make you all twitch, Dinga 44 looks like he might make a run at this in the second round.

This will be the final standings post location

This is the points that can be awarded for underdog upset victories, keep in mind you must win with the weaker side or do better than advr. with the strong or weaker side.
Also we still have the bonus points for the weak side winning, 1.5 points if only 1 winner from the weak side. 1 point for each if 2 players from the weak side win.

It is time to close this thread and open the final thread for this tournament. So it is also time to start looking forward to who we will crown as the "Gen. Patton" of CMBO. Will it be Miles or shall we have someone rise from the ranks to be victorious.
-
Of course that last statement could be wrong if enough Germans hit a buzz saw, but from the post I have read, sounds more like some poor defensive set ups have given the germans wins on this map.
Good news for any British player that has done well here.
-
Considering I show you playing warhammer the Norrey battle - You already have me confused. But as the German, you will have needed to snatch the town most likely to be successful. If the British manage to hold the town, I have a hard time believing you will post a score that will benefit you.Has anyone heard from Warhammer in the past week. I sent him the final turn in Panzers in the Peel, but I'm still waiting for the final file with my score (despite a number of emails)...and it's driving me crazy not knowing -
Just your comments have made me want to play this one, Some of us out here are looking for something to give us a whoopin, sounds like this scenario can hand out some humble pie.

[
This is not so uncommon, I have been amazed at how little many gamers pay attention to the briefings. Many of my wins in PBEM come because the other fellow did not catch the information needed out of the briefings that is important. I have sent out files and forgot to send a briefing before and no question was asked until after we were playing the game. It was a accident, but why would anyone setup without asking where is a briefing. I know some might not provide them, if that is the case, it is not a scenario, it is trash, might as well play a good quick battle then. I also know from playing others creations, how many scenarios are written that intentionally lead the player into incorrect decisions. I think this is totally wrong and poor game design. I do not want to hear how this is like real life either. If the designer has to try to fool the player into a poor choice, That is plain crap! A good design is to create a situation that is challenging but always gives the player some options, so the player is the one that makes the choices that leads to success or failure. So if a designer writes a briefing that will lead someone that follows it into a poor position, there should always be somewhere in the briefing a line that gives the player the option to make the changes in tactics as he see its. This can be done in many ways. This is a pet peeve of mine, I take the briefings just as real orders and weigh what is being said. So believe me, I know how poor some are written. So I understand why many player might not value them because of it.B]I will admitt I did miss a very important detail in the briefing and assumed we started on oppisite sides of the river. In real life from my experence in the service, most information passed down was correct, might be outdated at times. If it was not knowledge, then it was most time directly stated that it was a assumption in one way or another. This would normally bring questions on how that assumption was made and that information was sometimes shared. It was seldom a problem getting totally incorrect information. The problem was how the infomation was used by those in command.
-
I will disagree with the disagree, I mention in the briefing to the Germans to be agressive. Your right about guns but I normally reward those that listen to commands in the briefing.quote:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Norrey supports an agressive opening German move in the first 10 turns (i'm guessing that most people are past this point) This move however, cuts down on the size of the map so that the map could have been a lot smaller because much of it isn't used.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree: as the attacker you're not aware of the fact that the first portion of the map is empty (don't know the options of the defender). It is possible that guns or whatever are hidden so you have to tread carefull !
Taking your time in this one I believe rewards the allies. If you follow the briefing as the germans, You gain more time to clear the town since there is ground you can grab easily. Also when you do hit them anti tank defences you can take them on without the help of the reinforcements the allies receive. During playtesting the Germans paid heavy in tanks to break through the anti tank defence normally, but this would give them the advantage against the allied reinforcements if done quick enough because the germans could normally become somewhat the defender and cut off the allied reinforcements from supporting the town if they
had pushed forward far enough.
The best test is to see who is the most successful playing the Germans when scores come in. I hope the aggressive German playing will be the rewarded person. (Of course it takes more than just aggressive play to be awarded, poor tactics with aggressive play in this one will find the German losing to many tanks and game points to ever have a chance at producing a good score. (Can you tell I really do enjoy designing these scenario's )
-
You are getting the same game, the retail version comes with a bunch of scenarios and that is about the only difference. Battlefront never seems to drop their price much, but if you do buy from them, they will normally send you a new disk if you wear the old one out.
But at this point I see the interest changing from the orig. 3 combat mission games to the next generation in about a year. Will lose many players once the newer games get rollin.
-
The title is "Panzers in the Peel" this is Kingfishes. I like it also, even though I have only played it once, it was a challenge that I will not soon forget, I might not be doing as well as you.The one that isn't Norrey or Ghost in the fog is my favourite at the moment. -
You might be far enough into the second round that you can post which of the 6 scenario's is your favorite, I would be interested in hearing from you all, which ones you like. It seemed that out of the first three, "What were we thinking" had a lot of good comments, But I would like to hear the take from you guys.
-
In "Ghost in the fog" It is very hard to control your troops unless you know the secrets of infantry play. If you have them in the open, they will normally seek cover once they are fired on. If they start moving, they are much easier to kill. So one trick is to not have them in open terrain, even if it is night, foggy and there is a flag there. The second thing is, if you have a set position and do not want your main body of troops to be surprised by incoming fire, you must set up half squads as listening post in front of your troops to try to get the enemy units to pop up so that maybe you can get the jump and first fire with your main group on them.
Thus the reason for the title, Ghost in the fog, I am sure, many will experience troops dieing or running away from unknown enemies.
Just posted it, since one in the group was pulling his hair out because of how he is losing men to unknown things out there.

I have just finished playing my first scenario since buying CMAF. Played "2 pounders vs Tigers." Set in December 42.
It was just great to see the rounds just bounce off them tanks, gives you the feel that the allieds had during this time frame of the war.
Desperate tactical problem being out classed so badly.
The one question I have is what is causing this game to take so much longer to Calc. a turn over CMBB, I did not know the changes had tasked the computations that much.

Pretty nice, I can only imagine what type of computer I will need to run that game when it comes out. Also no question in my mind that the game industry will take it to that level the second they can.
-
You need to settle down with the comments. Now I am blushing. I knew kingfish would provide something worth playing because I have played enough of his work to know his skill level on scenario design. My Scenarios are actually my first that I have released out beyond my personal use, I have tinkered with designing since I have had the games.I know I can make something that works well for my desired standard of what I want in a Scenario, but as far as meeting others standards, I expect to get mixed reviews. I am just Glad you enjoy them.as we are all busily playing the fantastic scenarios given by the Tourney Master. -
Erm second from last then - talking of the man mikado he has contacted me but he doesn't have any briefing notes from you?
I have tried the different addresses, they are not bouncing back, I do not know, but it appears that he is not getting stuff or have I seen one thing from him. At this point I do not know what to do to get stuff to him.
-
Actually, you are not in last, Mikado holds that position with the revised points, I did not post zero.Just goshing before, cheers for the tourney and the second round scenarios look great. Is there a prize for being last?Sly: I am well and truely last now.
