  3. Latest update. Sounds like fiaros might run a little long. I might just start sending next round battles before these are done. But he should be close to keeping on schedule

  5. I just ran the same test at 1000m. The Jumbo won 12-8 in my test. I let the machine pick armor by default, 4 of 5 shermans had Tungsten doing it this way. I noted only one first round kill and it was against a panther, keep in mind the game AI never shoots special ammo on the first shot. Also noted the amount of Ricochets was much higher at this range for both tanks with one battle lasting 7 minutes with the sherman winning and having only one AP round left.

  6. There is the answer, Vergeltungswaffe hit it, and my results were 10 kills each. The interesting thing was both sides had their share of the tank armor being able to deflect shots. Also the more testing done might vary the average some but I beat it would not likely change more than 1 out of 20 as a average or a 5% variance. So jBrereton, your answer could be correct, just not what I had. Watching my test, I could say the Panther might have done better, if given enough test. If one side was unlucky, it was the Panther

  7. Without running test, see if you can guess the results of this battle.

    Panther Pz VG vs Sherman M4A3E2 76 Jumbo

    Both have Veteran crews, distance 740 meters, front armor to front armor

    Out of 20 battles what was the results.

  8. Thanks Jason, Had my entree in before yours was showing on the machine. I figured the game had it pretty correct because of how it models, just not sure as to why that was the results. I selected the 400,800 and 1200 meters ranges as a quick and dirty way to create numbers for my personnal use, I just am not detailed enough to take the time to do a detailed chart with more detailed results.

  9. My guess is that at longer range the Sherman's superior frontal armour begins to have an effect. Did you have a look at the amount of non-penetrating hits?

    No, I did this along time ago, all I was interested in was finding the best engagement ranges for tank duels. I also think it might have to do with the armour, but part of me disagrees with that. At the longer ranges the slope advantage would likely be decreasing since the shells would actually be falling in there trajectory pattern. Second I would think the German gun might hold volocity better at the longer ranges, but these are just assumptions, nothing I have check into. Anyway, when I came across this topic and saw that he is clueless as to how to do any searching as to what happens in the game vs real life I knew I had some data sitting at home that does show a funny result from what one might expect. So here it is. Some one else can tell me why it is correct or incorrect.

    like the results vs the T34, yes the rof is much less for the tank, So just because it has other better features, the tank still is a machine that funtions with all it aspects. So drive that T34 hard and fast so that you can get that ass shot because it is no match in a head to head fight. just like in real life.

  10. here is the same testing vs a T34/76

    1200 meters losses 12 T34 vs 1 Pz 4

    800 meters losses 4 T34 vs 1 Pz

    400 meters losses 2 T34 vs 1 Pz4

    200 meters losses 3 T34 vs 2 Pz4

    So in these test that Best tank ever made does not preform to well in a toe to toe fight vs the Pz 4. The Pz 4 could still do the job.

    So I feel that the game does model well, but I myself have wondered how in the world does the Sherman get the advantage at range, when other things are equal.

  11. Well, a while ok I had run test in the game because I thought the Pv 4 seemed to underperform, this was some ratios I had from testing the game. The tanks were facing each other and could not move. both crews were elite

    Short barreled sherman vs Pz 4 with long 75

    400 meters losses almost equal

    800 meters 7 shermans to 8 panzers

    1200 meters 7 shermans to 12 panzers

    I have always thought it strange that the sherman gained the advantage at distance. This is how the game performs, run your own test.

    because of what has been discussed here I ran one for a german elite crew vs a req. american crew. The kill ratio was

    1450 meters 4 Shermans to 1 Pz 4

    So putting in quility crews in tanks have a major impact, more than range.

    All these ratio's were done running approx 100 kills.

  12. I just need to add my best remembered results with flame vs armour.

    A section of Forest road with a ambush set, I had a platoon and a Half of infantry, one bazooka, a couple of mg's and 2 Flame throwers.

    My enemy was rolling smoothly with a light armor column over my earlier contact post, so maybe he thought I was on the run from that sector, but he pushed the hole group into the area, thinking he would overwelm me with firepower. To his dismay and my utter glee, 12 or 13 Halftracks, Armour Cars and a couple of light tanks were destroyed. The road was blazing for 60 meters and thus became a permanent roadblock and stop his assault in that sector. I have that turn saved in my files, not one to forget.

    Needless to say, the two flames counted for about 8 kills, plus some infantry trying to excape from them halftracks. The joy of war. smile.gif

  13. First, I just wanted to post the names of each present Scenario, it is in the game files but no-one has used them when dicussing the games.

    Second, Lets hear from you as to which one is your favorite so far, Remember to not leak information at the moment that could affect other

    battles.

    Third, Note in my profile my new email address, please use this to contact me or when sending in results, also remember I do prefer the last game file sent over a print screen of the score. Also both players to send the file, not just one.

    My old address is still working but I cannot tell you for how long.

  14. Interesting Ideas as to some approaches to show landings.

    I will agree with the statement that the scenario is Good as is, just started playing it and I feel that the numbers hitting the shore and what support is not there is about correct. You get a feel for the battle as it was, once the troops were on shore. As to the craft being represented before landing. Nothing will really work very well, face it, it would have been nice for some design to have been done in the game system as they kept working with it through the changes.

    Creative ways of trying to potray it though, but you can only do so much.
