  1. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH - more money and time down the drain!! ;-)

Can't wait actually. I'm very curious how this will work in terms of simulating the small island battles that made up so much of the pacific. Hopefully we'll be able to do scenarios on just one island battle, like Okinawa, New Georgia, etc.

  2. I'm not sure this is the right place for this - but I recently installed the new free version of AVG. Today I also installed FireFox 3.

Now I can't start PDE, I keep getting a warning from AVG saying the file is infected with a Trojan Horse Virus.

I'm not sure what to do. I click heal and nothing happens, ignore doesn't let it start either. I'm thinking of telling it remove the threat, but does that mean the file will be removed?

Any thoughts out there? I'm bummed that I can't play PDE - my favorite game!

  3. Hey Honch,

I'm late with this but I like the idea of poison gas - and the idea of strength hits and the US and USSR reacting is good also.

I don't really think that the UK using gas would have caused Spain to join the Axis, and doubt Yugo would have either. Those options seem like a real stretch to me.

But letting them use gas is GREAT - I have no doubt Churchill would have done WHATEVER IT TOOK to defend the UK.

  4. Xwormwood,

I played this one too, and had fun knocking the USSR our a few turns before the game ended.

I took it as a fantasy scenario given the fact the it has the US and British forces deployed wrongly in France.

I think some limits on the minor allies is a good idea, but I do think Germany ought to be able to build more armies than they have. I think the fear of the "Red Menace" would have been very motivating.

I also thought the Germans in Norway were serving the allies the same way we allowed the Japanese to remain in charge in Korea and Vietnam till our forces could get there after the war.

Your political ideas are interesting and deserve to be looked into!

  5. Hi All,

I've just finished my second PDE scenario, and thought I'd give a few thoughts and see what the rest of you think.

I just got a Stalemate in Stalin Drives East. It was a good game, but as the Allies I kept waiting for that huge invasion of America, and it never came.

The AI drove the Russians through France, then switched and slowly took the middle east and worked it's way across north africa. It never did take Italy, I was able to hold Rome using Italian forces only with one UK carrier adding it's support.

Can the AI do invasions? Or is this something that will have to be worked on in updates?

I'm loving the game - thanks!

  6. Well I've played with the Demo a bit and have found it both frustrating and exciting.

I first tried Patton Drive East as the Allies, and in this case Patton didn't drive very far. I was frustrated by the lack of power in my air units. So I redid it as the Russian, and lost nearly ALL my units to Allied air!

    Go figure!

This afternoon I played Berlin Crisis as the Allies. Wow - what a blast! I managed to hang in there and France fell on the last turn of the Demo! Whew - lots of fun here, tomorrow I hope to play it through as the Russian.

Nice work! Now if I can only get the hang of the whole airpower thing maybe I'll actually be able to win a game or two!

  7. Hey SeaMonkey,

OH yeah - really sorry!! ;)

Not really. I didn't know that paratroopers could drop in bad weather. That's interesting if I can find a way to afford them!

My main problem as the Allied player is that German air in WaW just seems to be nearly unstoppable. I know that's being talked about in another thread, and don't want to hijack this one.

But the idea of hurting the German's supply as a way to weaken and slow them down isn't something I'd given much thought too.

I'll have to play around with this and see what I can do.

    Thanks!
