  1. I don't have any quick fixes to report at this point, but it remains a very high priority item. I'm looking at alternatives to the current network library and hope to start prototyping a replacement soon. It's still too early for me to be able to give a more definitive timeframe for when that might be done.
  2. This issue has been addressed in the gold release (both full and demo). You'll be able to right-click on your leader and display a pop-up window showing the leader's hand.
  3. I'll make looking into the card drawing routines a priority.
  4. The votes are in and Midway is the winner. We can take the upcoming release of the Wildcat and fold it into a Midway campaign. There will probably be some new targets for this campaign, and we may throw in some new "fog of war" features. More on that later. Here are the official results: </font> Early North Africa: 28</font>Midway: 46</font>Flying Tigers: 37</font>Malta: 28</font>Wake Island: 1</font>
  5. Yes. If you buy the full version, pilots created under the Demo game are available in the full version, and will progress normally. Players using the Demo version of the game cannot join a game created by a player using the full version. Likewise, a player using the full version of the game cannot join a game created by a player using the Demo game. No. The gold demo still has the 100 XP limit.
  6. There was no delay associated with the new feature. We put that in several weeks ago based on feedback from you guys on the beta demo. I expect you guys will be hearing something very soon regarding the gold release. Last I heard, almost everything was in place, so hopefully there will be an announcement today or tomorrow.
  7. Your wish has been granted. This feature is in the full release and the gold demo versions. Toggle modes by hitting Ctrl+T.
  8. We will definitely keep an eye on this and will be listening to what you guys have to say once the full version of the game is being played. Our experience during testing showed that most high level pilots do indeed carry with them a large number of "Draw Extra Card" skills. However, you will rarely have an opportunity to use more than 10 or 12 in one game. Purchasing 10 "Draw Extra Card" skills would cost you 110 XP, so you are definitely giving up the chance to purchase more permanent skills. The other thing we found is that even though you may have a high level pilot with lots of "Draw Extra Card" skills, he is probably going up against pilots with similar capabilities. So if everyone is drawing extra cards, things tend to balance out.
  9. There are probably a lot of things we could do to make the chat features more useful to players. Rather than adding one feature here and there, it might be better to collect input from you guys on what you would like to see, and then we'll put together a list and figure out what is feasible to do. So, I guess the "highlight" system would be the first one on the list.
  10. Good catch. Try it now and let me know if there are any problems. Thanks.
  11. I'll take a look at the card deck logic. At a minimum, I can have it take into account cards currently in players hand when the deck gets reshuffled.
  12. I'm almost afraid to ask, but what is the "chess ELO ranking"?
  13. The most "XP/Mission" is based on an average by taking the total XP and dividing by the number of missions flown. If we based the number on the most XP received in a single mission, then you might well be the top pilot in that area. If a majority of players think that it would be more meaningful to base the score on the highest single-mission XP score, we can look at changing it. Opinions are welcome.
  14. That's a good idea and would be pretty easy to do.
  15. All of the pilots who participated in the Tournament have been awarded the "Rising Eagles Participation" medal. All of the pilots who actually flew in the Quarter Finals have been awarded the "Rising Eagles Quarter Finals" medal. These medals currently only show up on the Leader Board. As updates are released for the game, you'll eventually be able to see them in the "Manage Pilots" section of the game as well. Remember that if you are logged into the web site, you can view your own pilots by checking the "My Pilots" checkbox on the Leader Board.
  16. I did a Google search on the error that you're getting and it is possible that you have some Spyware software or perhaps a bad driver that may be interfering with .NET. Here is one discussion thread where someone had the same error. If you read through it all the way, it turned out to be a Spyware program causing the problem. http://www.dotnet247.com/247reference/msgs/35/178394.aspx Here's another one that suggests that Spyware may be the culprit: http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/community/forums/664/ShowPost.aspx And here's another: http://www.vbdotnetforums.com/showthread.php?t=3817
  17. I think others have reported problems with the 2.0 framework. You can try to force the game to use the correct runtime by doing the following: 1. Open up the file "DiFOLobbyClient.exe.config" in a text editor, such as Notepad. This file should be located in "C:\Program Files\Battlefront\Down In Flames Beta Demo\bin" 2. Add the following to the file: <startup> <supportedRuntime version="v1.1.4322"/> <supportedRuntime version="v1.0.3705"/> </startup> This should be placed right below the <configuration> tag. 3. Save the file and try running the Lobby. 4. If the above works, you will need to add the same entries to the file "DiFOGameClient.exe.config" [ September 16, 2005, 04:20 AM: Message edited by: bartbert ]
  18. We have had a couple of people report problems due to missing or corrupted fonts, particularly the Arial font. Here's some info that has helped others: To manually install or re-install a font: Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click the Fonts folder. On the File menu, click Install New Font. In the Drives box, click the drive that has the floppy or CD-ROM that contains the fonts you want to add. If you are installing fonts from a floppy disk, this is typically drive A or drive B. If you are installing the fonts from a compact disc, your CD-ROM drive is typically drive D. Double-click the folder that contains the fonts. Click the font you want to add. To select more than one font at a time, press and hold down the Ctrl key while you click each font. Click to select the Copy Fonts To Fonts Folder check box. The Windows\Fonts folder is where the fonts that are included with Windows XP are stored. Click OK. for more information visit this web link: add or remove a font in Windows XP
  19. In the case of "Distract Leader", the enemy leader must be engaged with the wingman's leader. The definition of "engaged" is basically any position other than neutral.
  20. The skills such as Distract Wingman affect the element they are attacking or are being attacked by (depending on whether it is an offensive or defensive skill).
  21. The card game does allow you to play a Vertical Roll without regard to whether or not an enemy is at your altitude. In order to simplify the interface, and improve the flow of the game, we decided to not allow that in the computer game. We might add that capability in for a future release, but it's not on the immediate radar.
  22. That was a great "war story", and a very creative use of the "Take the Lead" skill. I never would have seen that one coming. I'll have to admit that you guys have convinced me that while not terribly realistic, it does seem to add some interesting tactical choices to the game.
  23. Sounds reasonable to me. But as game designer, that is ultimately Dan's call.
