  1. Okay, so I dedusted my CMx2 copies on my new PC and trying to get back in the hype. I have not nearly played as much CMx2 as I have CMx1.

One of the things, I really, REALLY, liked from CMx1 is that the time penalties per waypoint changed with the experience of the unit. So an elite unit would have e.g. 2,2,3,4,5 seconds time penalty over 5 waypoints. Green units would go more like 3,5,7,9,10 (it's been a while, it not about the exact numbers here but about the model). Especially Barbarossa to Berlin the veteran / elite units would prove much more adjustable to changing situations whereas the green Russians you wouldn't want to give them too many waypoints as they could be stuck for a minute before making their first move. I felt this was a nice represenation of the impact of experience on the game. I am kinda missing this in CMx2.

Curious why this was left out of CMx2; thoughts anyone?

  2. Hi Guys,

I have noticed some really weird behaviour. I send my nfantry to go through the back yards and avoid the main roads, since MG fire is expected to have a sweeping view on the main road. When I tell my infantry to enter the house, they will partially run around the house and enter from the front! The very thing I try to prevent!?! Any thoughts as to why this is and how to prevent it?

    Does movement speed cause this?

Or maybe two squads entering at once, forcing a queue and making some pixel soldiers think they can beat the queue, run around the house (and die)?

  3. Hi guys,

I just received my new PC which hosts a 2080ti.

I love the wide screen support by CMBN! I am experiencing a video problem when running CMBN. The image is very restless, it looks like - even when I do not change the view - the video keeps redrawing the screen. Also the ALT-T option of having nearby trees removed and trees further away to be visible, is not working.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

However, all this is very grand. If you managed to produce some form of operational layer where we could manoeuvre battalion and company units then resolve the clashes in CM and play the results back to the operational units that would be fantastic and dream come true.

We had Cocat, when we played CMMC2. Maybe dedust it and see if it still runs?

Try entering as much of your email as it will accept. I know it sounds strange but it has worked for some. If that fails then contact support.

    Thanks. Option 1 didn't work.

Contacted helpdesk, contains broken link for password reset (www.battlefront.com/lostpw). Not useful.

When asking to change password after submitting user name and e-mail address, I am told an e-mail is sent my way. Unfortunately I do not actually receive that e-mail 😕

  6. Steve,

    Boy you react to stuff.

I LOVE BTS, I LOVE CMx1. I bought all the games (even have CMBO and CMBB twice) because I want to give you my money for a job well done. Does my affection towards BTS not show I am a dedicated fan? Does being a dedicated fan only mean that I cannot disagree on some of the stuff that is written?

I feel you should maybe take a break from this forum as your posts are getting pretty hot.

Sorry I don't like CMSF. I still love CMx1. I still love BTS & crew!

    Martin,

That is not what BTS said. Especially for those poor sobs accusing me of not reading my posts (not meant for you Martin):

"...The two releases are, in order:

    1. Near future modern warfare

    2. WWII western Europe 1944/45

    ..."

    Check the "Official Announcement" post.

Maybe Syria 2003? Everyone can tell it is fictional, as good as the same OoB (or hell, even allow for 2007 material/technics to be possible).

How about US vs Europe (fictional, challenging material). UN vs some bogus Russian republic (remember how Command and Conquer had such a setting around their game?).

All in all I am not saying Syria is a good country which should be spared, nor am I saying it is a bad country that belongs to some axis of evil. I am only saying that IMHO BTS have (deliberately?) chosen a VERY sensitive subject.

Choosing a sensitive subject/setting is one thing. Defending it by using political statements about so-called (Bush talk) axis of evil countries (as "#1 sponsor of terrorism" regarding Afghanistan shows) partiality and is IMHO way out of line.

I really am shocked they let themselves into this...

    Steve

They are not the #1 sponsor?!?!? The money comes from Saudi Arabia and other RICH Arab countries. Afghanisatan was just the uncontrolled outpost of the world where they decidede to setup their HQ.

I think you are wayyyyy out of line here. You guys, the creator of our coolest of cool game, should keep FAR from politics. It really makes me sad you are putting this up.

I think it is dangerous for software vendors to go along with the Bush hype: Syria axis of evil kinda thing. For the majority of the thiking part of our community, I hope they laugh in my face as they can tell right from wrong. For those seeking causes to do their own thing, this could be seen as something that confirms their view even more.

I didn't want top bring up politics, but this post by BTS staff really bothers me.

  10. I love CMxx, I love BTS. But Syria 2007 is a real bad choice for me. Definately not gonna buy, sorry guys. I think this product will do good business on the American market - which all in all is cool by me.

I'd really prefer WWII. I will stick to CMBB and CMAK untill the CMSF '44/'45 campaign is out.

  11. Spartan,

You are very right. The more people enlist, the more momentum the game gets. It is rolling since early 2003 now and we lac GMs, as said before.

The purpose: to win a two day campaign near Belyi. It is a semi-historical campaign. Purely historical would allow both parties to know everything about the opponent, which is not really fun in a strategy game.

What experiences? A good time, really intersting battles (not the QB kind), contacts from across the globe...does that answer your question?

What is needed to enlist; persistance, patience, some interest in military in general, some experience in CMBB. Each side has their own training program that new recuits can or must follow.

@ time - there is a job for any amount of time available. Little time will put you in the drivers seat of a battalion (ie commanding the actual CMBB battles). If you are looking for more of a wider scope challenge (arranging supply, covert ops, air missions, arty support etc. etc.) you can join with the top brass. Most needed are GMs; these are like the gods of the game. Lot of self study is required here as our present GMs are quite busy with managing the game itself.

There is not real FAQ, just shout around in ouir general forum at www.cmmc2.org/forums/

You can find me by addressing your message to A.B. Ushavov.

    I hope we meet again!!
