  1. For a red force pack, maybe the devs could say that Iran took advantage of the situation or even were behind the Syrian coup and invade Iraq and maybe even run straight across northern Iraq to help Syria out. That would make a nice new red forces package, maybe there could even be some limited red air support for a bit.

I think it would be cool if that was how the story played out with Germany [paper tiger]. Modern German equipment would be cool.

  2. I dont think the German government would ever participate in a mid east conflict unless they themselves were the target of a serious terrorist attack. German equipment is pretty cool but I just cant imagine them waging a modern war for anything other than self defense with their current attitudes toward offensive warfare.

  3. Has anyone ever seen the precision strike option for artillery that was mentioned on page 81 of the manual? Has this been cut, just not enabled yet, or am I just missing it? I've tried using Bradley & Stryker FIST units to call in artillery, but have never seen this as an option. Do you have to target a specific enemy unit or are you suppose to be able to target a building using precision strike?

  4. I was just about to post this review link too. I love Gamespot for gaming news and the such, but I must say, they review for the gamer majority.

I must rant a little, I'm pissed at the state of PC gaming

Most PC gamers [casual gamers] dont read reviews, play demos, or talk on game forums and for that matter most of them never patch their game, or update any of their hardware drivers, they just run to the store and pick up a PC game that catches their eye. As an example, thats why there are so many movie related PC games released, because they catch the casual gamers eye. 99% of those movie games suck.... terribly, but they sell well b/c of this super casual gamer majority. Then when this casual gamer finds out this game sucks horribly in comparison to their console games, they think the PC is a bad gaming platform and so continues the downfall of PC gaming.

    end rant, sorta

My point is that GameSpot is reviewing the game as someone who never heard of CM:SF before and knows nothing of the world of small independantly developed games. In my glorious opinion, I think the whole CM series is beyond mere casual review even though the previous CM games got a nice score. I hope many super casual gamers buy this game and cry to their mommies about how bad it sucked. More money in Battlefront's pack I say.

OK, I need to stop, LONG LIVE SPARTA..... I mean THE CM SERIES !

  5. Hi Battlefront people, great game CM:SF is

    Two questions

Playing CM:SF has got me kinda re-interested in modern weapon systems and so I've been doing alot of casual research recently. I have been particularly interested in heavier weapons, RPGs, portable AT missiles and the like.

    so...

Ever since I read about the future US Marines addon for CM:SF, I wanted to see how the US Army kit and US Marines heavy weapons differed. One thing I noticed is that the Marines use two exclusive heavy infantry weapon systems, not really seen in the other branches as of yet (that I know of)

These are the SMAW, an [83mm, AT-4 like rocket launcher] and the SRAW/Predator family of guided missile launcher. Concerning the SRAW I was particularly interesting in the SRAW-MPV, developed specifically for MOUT operations.

    To the questions

For you Developer guys, I was wondering if you would be including these systems with your Marines addon? or have you not had the time to look into this yet?

Next for you military and wise men. What do you know about the frequency of use and effectiveness of these two systems in combat?

And a last somewhat related one for you developer guys, I noticed that the Syrian army has a stockpile of around 1000 Milan AT missiles and that they loaned some out to Hezbollah in the recent Isreali conflict. I was wondering why this missile was not modelled, it being so numerous and all?

  6. I agree with this, in a realistic wargame sim, soldiers of above conscript or at the most green quality should know not to expose their position by firing ineffective rounds.

On a somewhat related note, it would be cool if each man in a squad was somehow individually selectable for orders. If this was possible you could do things like tell your .50 cal sniper to be the only one firing in his sniper team, or target your javelin/RPG to fire only. In addition to this individual selectability, an order concerning number of rounds fired would be useful, primarily to heavy weapons such as a tank's main gun, RPG, ATGM etc. You could order M1A2 #1 to fire one round into that house. With individual unit modelling in CM:SF, it would seem to be a logical, useful and somewhat easy add in feature. Fuzzy CM:SF dreams are nice.....

  7. Unless the artillery had previously had time to be zeroed in on an exact area, or could actually see the enemy forces there was little chance of reliable kills on enemy forces. The artillery area fire did however create confusion and fear in the forces it was targeting. This would usually cause them to slow an advance or take cover. The confusion could then be used as a cover and spare time for advancing, defending or retreating forces. I wish you could have artillery zeroed and on standby to fire and not wait 6 mins, that would make it a little better I've never used artillery that much except for the long starting barrages on known positions. Except for the on field mortars which are nice for accurate kills. Usually when forces wanted to use artillery as a force softening tool it was fired over extended periods of time, several times over several hours or days. Historically American artillery was some of the most accurate and effective during the later war, havent tested this much in game though. The germans had the coolest artillery I think though smile.gif

  8. Hey everyone, my name is Shane, Im new to the boards but have been playing battlefront games for years.

I just had a few question at the moment so I can design better scenarios. Could anyone here tell me if the ammo presets for weapons are correct in the game such as the uneven amounts of shell types given to different guns, was this at the discrection of a level of cammander or were there preset amounts of each ammo type recommened for a certain platform. How were tungsten shells distributed? To higher skilled troops or just to whoever got them first. I do understand that units who have seen actions recently or are undersupplied may have strange ammo loads, Im wondering about supplied and prepared units.

    Thanks for any help
