  1. It was a rather difficult 2-month campaign, but it really dispels the myth of overall German superiority IMO. Of course, you are correct, perfectly matched battles are hard to come by because the key in war is not to fight those battles.
  2. There was a rather even battle in late 44 in the Vosges over some old Maginot forts. There were two American and two German divisions on mountainous terrain in foggy conditions, making air assets unavailable. The Americans won.
  3. Really though, if you invade a neutral, you should really have to think about it, even for 'historical' neutrals.
  4. i wouldn't mind the pausable real-time all that much if the battles didnt last 4 hours each(gametime, 4 hours is about 2 seconds real time)..
  5. Well then, if the Hungarians were involved in the holocaust, why did hitler have Horthy snatched and placed under house arrest?
  6. Note that the Hungarians never ran a death camp nor allowed one within their borders. Horthy also tried saving his country's jews but he was snatched.
  7. What's the point of a Z-plan scenario if Axis has no disadvantages from it? What I mean is, does the Axis have any more disadvantages in this scenario than in the standard 39?
  8. I think if the Germans take too long Amsterdam should become an island. Had the Dutch had more time they could have flooded tons of land.
  9. Horthy was hardly a puppet. He just thought the Germans would strongarm his enemies into making concessions. The Hungarians were not a puppet until late 44 when the Germans snatched him. The Romanians switched sides, and to stay neutral they would be forced to fight Hungary for Transylvania. The Bulgars weren't too interested at all in the war, and they joined axis but never really fought. The Finns were more or less fully independent of the Axis, and fought because they had a mutual enemy.
  10. In my opinion, the quality of armor really doesn't have much of an effect on the strategic outcome of a campaign.
  11. It really depends. There are two types of AA guns, big guns for shooting at high-altitude bombers, and smaller guns that fire quickly for low-altitude attacks. It doesn't exactly take a lot of low altitude guns to stave off an attack by a smaller group of ground attack aircraft. The bigger guns had a low rate of fire and were primarily restricted to fighting off strategic bombers. Of course, I think the effects of airfleets should be more abstracted, though, so what do I know?
  12. Make an extremely inefficient MPP-to-Oil conversion. [ January 02, 2004, 11:36 AM: Message edited by: Panzeh ]
  13. Note that most hexes should only be able to supply a modest airforce and that it shouldnt really be enough to constitute an air fleet. Airfleets should be restricted to cities and operating between them.
  14. Considering the Axis can pound Denmark for experience i don't say it's unfair.
  15. In my opinion there should be an "America" box that has the capability to produce land and air units and store several. When they are transported, they should then appear in the Atlantic.
  16. Why thank you, but we're going off topic now.
  17. I agree. Such a wall of hexes would be impractical for this type of game.
