  1. Actually I gave exactly that kind of order - with a 2-man pioneer section ..... :-S
  2. So when I issue a move order to infantry via a bridge, they tend to crawl *under* the bridge an then not come out. Or move over the bridge and then go under it. Any ideas? Do bridges work properly? Playing Courage and Fortitude Mission 2, with 1.01
  3. Have the two mortars in the initial setup moved? Has the new arrival? Artillery can fire quicker when it's more confident of its own position....
  4. The other mortar is from a different formation?
  5. Which mission did you consider easy, out of interest? I'm just starting the 2nd and consider the 1st is more of a puzzle than a battle - once you have cracked two "tricks" in your approach then the Germans don't have a chance at all.
  6. My main tip is: Think carefully. This game is a much more realistic reflection of WW2 era warfare than most games on the market. So if you end up with key units dead, or even just out of position, there is no going back... Successfully completing a mission requires a much better plan than in just about any other tactical-level wargame.
  7. I've not actually experimented with battleships yet, but 12 mins would be on the quick side.... ;-)
  8. Western Allied doctrine in 1944 was absolutely to carpet the enemy in as much high explosive as possible, to reduce infantry casualties. If you want to redefine Combined Arms so that it doesn't include artillery, go right ahead, but you'll find it difficult to have a 20th century historical wargame that suits your inclinations. Particularly one set in Operation Overlord, which even by WW2 standards was a massive triumph of firepower. Personally I'm looking forward to drawing up some nice big fireplans using the sophisticated artillery tools in the game :-) @Speedy - "as soon as the spotting rounds come in your troops run away" - yes, fair enough - but does running away help them achieve their objective? ;-)
  9. Thanks! Any idea how long BF tend to take between releases - is it likely to be 3mos / 6 mos / 12mos before the Commonwealth forces are out?
  10. Apologies if this has already been discussed to death. I've seen references to it in other threads so I guess it probably has, but I couldn't see a sticky about it, and I've only just come back to this forum after a long break. So - what's the plan for the further development of the game? Is Battlefront's plan to release further modules to cover the rest of the Normandy campaign, the rest of NW Europe, the Eastern Front, Italy... etc? Or is some of this work going to be left to modders?
  11. So an artillery concentration is a barrage in the same way that an armoured car is a tank... ;-)
  12. No, "barrage" refers specifically to linear artillery fire. It can be rolling, walking, creeping, standing or in a box... It's often used incorrectly to refer to any artillery fire.
  13. Just an observation. Artillery barrages are in the game - finally - through the use of the "line target". But the game throughout insists on using the term "barrage" when I think it really means "bombardment" or "concentration". Am I trying to be overly precise with my terminology? ;-)
