  1. Actually, Iraq (I think) was sort of independant, sort of owned by Britain at the time- I do recall some pro-Axis Arabs unsuccessfully attacked the British garrison at Baghdad. God bless, Publius Cornelius Patton
  2. I'd love to see a modern-day CM, or play some Cold War hypothetical battles. But a revamped WWII Western Front would be nice as well. One thing I thought of- what about the possiblity to make your own "units" with the weapons and such. Like a custom US infantry squad with bazooka joe in it? Something I would also like is the possibility of have a "General" unit. Either on foot or in a tank, the "General" unit would represent a general perosnally leading his troops into battle. It could also represent important historical personas (i.e. Hitler for a what-if battle at the Reich Chancellery in Berlin) and would have the John Wayne effect* for nearby units. Also, CM-X2 (or CMX, whatever you call it) should be able to play on a 5000Mhz computer (cause that's how fast my iMac runs ) Just some ideas. God bless, Publius Cornelius Patton *A term I coined for when a single unit, out of contact with its normal unit commander, "changes" its "loyalty" to the nearest HQ unit. I call it the "John Wayne effect" due to a scene in the movie The Longest Day, where an US paratrooper replies to John Wayn'es character, who's a battalion commander in the 82nd Airborne, that he (the paratrooper, not John Wayne) is in the 101st, and John relpies, "Well, you're in the 82nd now."
  3. Yeah, Vietnam and the Arab-Israeli conflicts (as well as all those others) would make good (if not great) scenarios. No to mention a future US-China conflict over Taiwan (Me, I'd love to see US troops taking down the People's Liberation Army. ) God bless, Publius Cornelius Patton
  4. Well, Patton though Rommel was his rival. God bless, Publius Cornelius Patton
  5. I've recently been doing a paper on the Punic Wars, and an idea for a CMAK scenario came into my head- what if Patton was able to face his archrival Rommel in a battle in N. Africa, and not only that, but one non other than the same battlefield where Publius Cornelius Scipio "Africanus" defeated Hannibal- the plain of Zama? Personally, I think that a man like Patton would jump at such a chance. So, the scenario I'm planning to make (if I get CMAK) is basically an armored/mechainized showdown between the two generals on the plain of Zama. the best map of Zama I could find on the 'Net is here. How could I convert this into a CM map (how do I meaure the elevations?) What kinds of units would I use for each side? (if I make it, I hope to keep it balanced) Also, I hope to have Patton and Rommel "personally" there, as Elite units in tanks. What kind of tanks do you think the two generals would use as they personally led their troops into battle. I look forward to your advice. God bless, Publius Cornelius Patton
  6. The last time I played this scenario, I played as the Allies, with 200% more forces than usual. My main strategy was to put two M3 platoons on the high ridge on the left, and keep the two-three halftracks on the left in the orchard. The Grants on the high ridge wqas a very good choice. They kept the German halftracks and the armored cars at bay, even the Panzers kept behind the ridges. When I got the Shermans, I moved them across the left, where they massacred the Panzers, then across the map to the right, where they finished off the Shermans. Result: Major Allied Victory Axis Men OK: 84 Casualties: 229 KIA: 69 Captured: 52 Vehicles Destroyed: 22 Final Score: 24% Allies Men OK: 687 Casualties: 50 KIA: 10 Guns Destroyed: 2 Vehicles Destroyed: 9 Final Score: 76% MVP of the Battle: Sgt. Wolfgang and his M4A1 Sherman 25 infantry casualties caused 1 infantry captured 3 Panzer IIIMs killed 1 PSW 222 killed God bless, Publius Cornelius Patton
  7. I agree. Isn't TacOps something like that, but in 2D. I've thought about this idea, and the only problem I see game-wise is Helicopters- how are you going to simulate them? It would also be good if the version let you have completed-but-never-in-combat vehicles, such as the M8 AGS light "tank." God bless, "P. Cornelius Patton"
