So what does target light mean for fast movers? I have noticed when using this with a Typhoon nothing happens.
-
So would'nt Marine F-18's do strafing runs?
-
Marine Supercobra helicopters are different animals than Apaches in-game. Quite a bit of difference raining 20mm death from the sky compared to 30mm. Plus, unlike the British Harrier GR9, the Marine Harrier still has cannon for straffing (only Marine Harrier and A-10 use their cannons in-game). So while one platform dropping a 500 pound bomb is the same as another dropping a 500 pound bomb, there's still discernable differences between aircraft.
Why are only these platforms allowed to strafe?
-
The Super Hornet has two whole extra weapons stations for bombs which would make more useful than a plain vanilla F-18c/d.
-
I do see F-18D's but thats the only version I can call up. Why can't I call in F-18C's. I know there is a negligible difference but its the details that make the game. Also, no SuperHornets?
-
Why are their no F-18c's and F-14's on call for airstrikes. The Navy routinely provides air cover for the Marines and the Tomcat did'nt retire until after the game takes place.
-
Not to add to the complaints on air support but I just played a mission where I set an area attack up using and AH-64D and all is did was shoot rockets and cannons randomly in the area. When the game ended I saw that their were enemy trucks and troops all over the roofs of the buildings in this area perfectly unharmed nor fazed. I understand I could not directly see these troops but an Apache should be able to see troops on the roof.

Can I assume this will all take place after the MAC version of CMSF is out?

In a game yesterday both of my MArine javelin crews suffered casualties. However in neither team did the other members pick up the CLU. Any reason this could happen twice in a game?
-
How do you get Marine Javelin teams to acquire the javelin reloads? In the AAPV I can get them to 'see' the javelin reloads but not take them. I can get the marine rifle squad to get them but how can they pass it to the Javelin team?
-
Yeah, I previously posted on this and can agree with you. The missions I found really frustrating were the ones where intelligence tells you to expect t-72's and gives to a couple of javelin teams and a spotter to deal with it. I basically had to hide the entire time and hope I would get reinforcements that never came. However, having finished the campaign last night I was suprised that I pulled off a minor victory although I did not feel I had won.

I noticed the link for the game had the Afghans listed as being able to use a stinger missile. Are they planning on having some sort of air defense capability in the game? And what about air strikes availability for the russians?
-
As I just started the campaign with the USMC I am shocked to see so many missions with a huge lack to AT support. Some of the battles are just suicide with the forces you are expected to fight with and against. The briefings even mention the enemy tank forces and then give you very little to fight with. Was this done as a way to rebalance the game after complaints with the initial game?

What no one mentioned Britains Joy? Really fun and challenging and suspenseful. The most unique use of the game so far. Also loved the nod to Joy Division. Is Battlefront full of Joy Division fans?
-
Speaking of campaigns, are TF THunder and Lightning the same? I started Lightning after finishing Thunder and the missions are identical.

On a semi-related note, can the AI be tweaked so that my unbuttoned MGS fires the ma deuce and m-240 at technicals and civvies vechicles it finds rather than use a 105 round. They carry such a small amount of 105 rounds I rather they save them.
-
I would also vouch to have my infantry stay in a trench and clean it out when using the hunt command. What usually happens is half of the squad exits the trench and walks along the top and gets shot at from all sides while the other half rightly stays in the trench to clean it out unharmed.
-
That's true, never thought of it that way. Teddy bear innards!

Thanks for the reply, what I often like doing is firing at a building to make it collapse. After a few shots the Abrams stops and I order them to keep firing but the los tool says it cannot 'see' the building because of the smoke created by the previous rounds.
-
Ah! Very interesting now that makes sense. However, I often have seen my Abrams not be able to see through smoke caused by its use of its weapons on a building or when a building collapses, should'nt the sites be able to see through that?
-
What is the actual point of ordering 'assault' as it does not really do what its name implies. Using hunt to enter the building results in my men stopping where ever they are to return fire even when they are not even in the building.
-
On a related note, why can't my Abrams see targets in or through smoke screens? I was under the impression that they could.
-
Just using it in the demo and I was shocked to see how few rounds the thing carried. After about a couple of minutes the thing was back to using machinge guns. Anyone know what the deal is with having so few rounds? Also, whats the point of the artillery spotter Stryker when every Stryker can do this?
-
Just thought I would let other MAC Intel users know that changing the affinity to use 1 core solved all of my problems. Demo works great apart from the fact it is on XP and not OSX! Can't wait till the Mac version comes out, I am still very optimistic about it.
