  1. Daisy Chain mines: I was playing the scenario "The Move Back" as Axis (against player recommendations). To my aid I had 1 piece (unit) of those damn mines. I put them in the middle of the road to stop the Russian vehicle column so I could hit them immobilized. What happens? First, one T-26 drives safely across and gets away. Then, another one does the same. And finally a third one slips from my pre-planned ambush without the slightest sign of slowing down. What would you say? Am I way wrong with these mines? Should they be used with infantry? Or do one has to have more than one piece of mines to make a difference? Or are these mines plain useless?

  2. Thank you for info!

Especially the compatibility list. BUT: How rigid are these specifications? I mean, shouldn´t most memory actually be compatible, even though the motherboard company specifies some memory manufacturers? On the other hand, after getting into the computer business, I have learned that the machines are more like humans than machines...

When it comes to BIOS, I looked it up and I use v. 1005, which logically comes after 1004, and I guess that what made some errors disappear in the 1004 version also applies to the following? That being 1005,then.

    I´ll go on investigating...

Thanks for helping me out. smile.gif

  3. Hi.

Well, I´m using two sticks of 512mb 2700 on ASUS P4S8X. And for the third time now, when using that second stick, I get these problems. I guess probably that it´s due to a corrupted stick, which means I´ll be heading back to the store once more for some testing and replacement. I thought it would be impossible though to pick up a faulty memory three times in a row!

I will consider the compatibility issue though. The non problem memory I have is Samsung, and with that I have now tried Apacer, TwinMos and Kingston. Samsung is hard to find at the moment.

    Thanks for your replies.

  4. Hi. I´ve been struggling with this problem for a while now: quite randomly it seems as though CMBB either gives me an unhandle exception error as described in the troubleshooting guide or a blue screen with various MEMORY related error codes. I have reinstalled DirectX 9.0b, so that cannot be the issue. I have also changed a corrupt memory module two times (512mb + 512mb system setup)and I´m now on my third piece of mem. Of course I could be cursed, this memory being bad too, but is there any reports on errors of this kind due to software or Windows XP or BIOS settings?

  5. Is there? I saw the ASL portrait mod for CMAK. Hasn´t that been done for CMBB? It looked cool, informative, and aestethically pleasing.

When on the subject: I was fiddling a bit some time ago with the unit portraits, replacing them with real black and white photos. And to me, if remembered correctly, it seemed that for every branch(wehrmacht infantry, Mechanized, SS etc)there were three sets of bmp's:

the same portraits repeated all the way but with different numbers.

Why it is like that? What´s the meaning in having three different bmp´s for one purpose? Let´s say I have three MG42´s on a map. I replace the stock portraits with new ones that differs from each other. I would still get the same portrait for all my MG42´s. Thus, my effort to 'individualize' my units, would be in vain.

I don´t know if I have expressed this issue in an understandable way here, if I haven´t - ignore. Either if I have or not - A happy new year. ;)

  6. Hi, I specifically want to ask whether it´s a mistake or if it´s the version in fact missing. According to the enclosed JPG, there´s two winter versions. The whitewashed one is not there.

Generally, I would like to praise your initiative to upload all these great mods. I´m sucking everyone like a dry spoon. Keep it going. My sincer appreciation! smile.gif

Maybe I should not forget to praise the original authors too... ;)

  7. Hi.

I got this idea. Maybe it isn´t great, but: when I was modelling a piece of enclosed pasture-land , REALLY trying to make everything as realistically looking as possible in an architectual way, it struck me -I really need some field paths between fences and so. How to achieve this? Well, the only option I could think of was grabbing the bmp's for paved road and modify them, mainly because on a map like the one I was trying to do, paved roads wouldn´t be present. Then I thought I could do a CMMOS Mod out of it so that I could easily swap between the two modes whenever necessarily. I succeded in doing one bmp - the straight one. On the others I got all kinds of funny looking results. tongue.gif

I realize that if turning paved roads into field paths, movement parameters could be strange, but nevertheless, appearence-wise it would be great to have these paths and tracks. Anyone who could do this? Or should I say: Am I the only one interested?

  8. Hi.

I´m working around a bit with modding in CMBB, which means going in and out of the BMP folder, swapping files and then launching the game, have a look and then out and swapping other files, etc. From time to time when doing this, my computer shuts off and on the blue screen it says either:

    page_fault_in_non_page_area

    STOP: 0x0000000A (something like this)

    or:

    memory_management

    + STOP code

    or:

    IRQL_not_less_not_equal

    + STOP code

plus a fourth issue I don´t remember at the moment.

I believe it should be a corrupt RAM stick (I have two stick of 512mb 2700 installed - different brands). But this very seldom happens in other applications than CMBB so I´m just wondering if this in any way could be related to my beloved wargame?

  9. Hi.

I used to do some skinning in IL-2 Forgotten battles and would now like to try working a little with CMBB. So I was wondering if there is some kind of modding guide out there for Photoshop, which not only tells how to go about wth the bmp's, but also has a pedagogic approach to the techniques in the paint program. Maybe not so much how to simulate rust or weathering effects, as how to arrange layers and prepare the bmp's so that you easily keep details and lines from getting painted. In IL2 there were these void files that was nothing except for the outlining of the plane and the details. And from there you build it all up. Is there such a tutorial lurking somewhere? Or am I doomed to hard trial and error work?

  10. Hi. Anybody who´s confident in CMMOS conversions of mods? I am trying to figure out the best way to create a restoring "mod" in CMMOS. How do I achieve that? I made a CMMOS Mod out of the default bmp's for winter roads, but CMMOS won´t accept it as a CMMOS Mod. And I have quadruple checked the syntax and lists, so that they are correct. Please, someone knows?

  11. Thanks. I did send some pics to support and have had some discussion there. I don´t know if support will post them. But If you are interested I can still send them to you. My problem is resolved though. Here´s how: I lowered AA from 8X to 6X. Voila! It looked good again. So CMBB doesn´t accept the highest Antialiasing option, it seems, at least not for me. Also tried other games and the problem did not occur there.
