  5. Bruce Culver has written: Later in the retreat across France and in the weeks before the Ardennes offensive, many German tanks and tank destroyers were used from ambush, as rear guard units. To improve the camouflage of these vehicles, usually hidden in trees or heavy brush, a modification of the three color scheme was employed. On the dark yellow base, spots of olive green and red brown were painted in random patterns. On the olive green and red brown portions of the vehicles, spots of dark yellow were painted, again in random patterns. Usually foliage was added to the vehicles so painted in order to break up the outline shape. The spots of light and dark colors contrasted against the vehicles basic camouflage colors, simulating perfectly the spotty shadows and pinpoints of light that usually resulted when sunlight filtered through trees. The result was that vehicles painted in this "ambush" scheme and hidden in trees were virtually undetectable even from close range. I think if nobody knows the exact term used for this scheme, the description done by Bruce Culver give reason to all. I like "ombres et lumieres"("shadows and lights")("Licht und shatten") 'cause define exactly the scheme described by Bruce Culver. "Ambush" define why the scheme was used for. Thanks to all Pat
  6. Yeah Gurra, explain from where you got that info? I think nobody heard of it, that's why I asked today. "Ambush scheme" is post war calling, could we ask to a vétéran? Pat
  7. Hi Gurra thanks, translation : "Lights and shadows" camouflage in english Camouflage "Ombres et lumières" in French It's better name than "Ambush" ! Thanks again Cheers Pat
  8. Here some photos took in the end of the war : KAYSERSBERG captured by 1er RCA in décember 1944 but never engaged against Wehrmacht. After the end of the WWII some German panthers entered in French army service, two regiments 503 RCC and 6th Cuir were partially equipped. 503 RCC in manoeuvre 1947 other pics from Panther tank Panther near "Arc de Triomphe" post war. I remember in 1970 years two panthers from 2ème DB adorned the "Invalide entrance" I got these photos but can't find them in my house! Pat [ April 15, 2006, 03:36 PM: Message edited by: patboy ]

  13. Don't be too hard with yourself David ! Lot of your mods are running in my battlefields, I' m not myself, a "great and powerfull" as MikeyD or Gordon Molek, Marco Bergman & Andrew Fox. I would like say drawing mods is not simple but painting mods is more difficult, I think to give real effect with painting is very hard and I never saw in CM games IMHO, better than LUCKY STRIKE CMBO Panthers série. During my vacations I tried to add some of these beauties at CMBB & AK, I know some already have been done by JMC and UncleTgt, but I done some minor improvment like to fit each Panther type mod with BFC textures etc... Pat

  22. I don't understand the count number at cmmods.com, for my last uploaded CMBO mod "PATCMBONEWFACES", the count number noticed 52 downloads few days ago and now only 44 downloads ! Anyone can explain this oddity? Pat
  23. Absolutely yes, you can get women soldiers selection, but only a random selection! Units are mixte, the only thing you can do, is to replace all russian faces by women faces like I done below! just register this pic by right clic, open with "picture it" for sample and save as BMP file. Renumber as 5114, be sure to backup your original before to use it.... and you'll get this Russian female sniper : <a href="http://img342.imageshack.us/my.php?image=femalepartisansniper5en.jpg" target="_blank"> /> Cheers Pat [ March 31, 2006, 11:01 AM: Message edited by: patboy ]
