Well i think i'll be defending myself (and my delicate body) with a regiment of IS-3's LOL

Hmmm interesting poetry, i'll work on it.

Being somebody's bitch in this forum is mandatory. You're either the pimp or the bitch in this place. </font>

Well i didnt expect to kick off a 70+ post topic but obviously I found a contentious point (and dont we all love to have a good argue :D ).

Well im now a member it seems, when do you go from junior to normal then to senior? Is it to do with number of posts or is it time since you registered?

Peer vote. There is a thread called the Peng Challenge Thread. In it, we vote on newcomers by posting poetry; once you've been accepted by the masters of this forum, your status gets changed. Your winning vote was a simple haiku extolling the number of consonants in your name. </font>
  3. Hi everyone!

When I just got CM and found this forum, one of the first threads I looked at was "the one" with all the strategy, I'm about to venture into a new PBEM game and thought it might be a good idea to refresh a few things, so I go to the FAQ (BB forum) found the link to "the thread" clicked a topic and got a error message saying the, the topic I clicked doesn't exist. I think this is due to the forums being moved to the archives, but it would be nice if someone or something could give me a working link.

    Thanks

Don't know about you, but I find that amusing sometimes. Can't explain it really ;)

What is it with some people and the overweight abortion school of tanks?

For some weird reason, at least I get the kicks out of it sometimes. Now, don't get me wrong - I absolutely love historical battles and usually play with pz IIIs and IIs rather than sturmmörsers. But occasionally, i like the change.

I know it's a slippery slope demanding sorts like Maus in the game solely on the basis that I happen to like that certain type. Even though CM is historically very accurate an detailed game, it wouldn't take anything out of the credibility of the game if for example mouse was in. If you don't like a unit, you're not required to play with it, methinks. smile.gif

Again, I know there were some real world constraints like fitting the game on cd, KwazyDog not having time to model even some of the more common models and so on. That I can live with. What's slightly annoying, is some CM afficionados who don't want an unit in just because it is not historically correct. If I want to watch my maus slowly sink and dissappear in a mudpit then I should be allowed to do that, even though no maus was actually ever lost in a mud pit... </font>

I would also have liked it if they had included the Maus.

As for historical accuracy: It was build during WW II and thus could have been included in CM. There must be a line drawn to define which vehicles to include and which not, true, but I don't see a reason why that has to exclude the Maus when other vehicles like the Stalin III are included that most likely never seen combat in WW II as well.

Doing the graphics and making the research neccessary won't be that big deal either.

It would have been nice to see how the Maus would have worked in some fictional scenarios.

Thatis also why I hate that BF did not include the Königstiger and the better American tanks in CMAK. They might have never seen action during the Italian campain but yet it would have been possible if the decisions would have been made.

Could you tell me if the Maus ever really worked?
  6. Look you don't need the MAUS to have fun, besides what is fun about putting a 1000 ton beast on a hill a watch it fire some rounds killing hordes of Russkies, Americano's?? CM is cool because you get to try to use real tactic, strategy whatever. Besides after two games you would get bored of it, i know i would!

So they had a round they could use in them, produced in Germany.

As for Russian use of MP40s, perhaps occasionally for the misleading sound as one fellow suggests, but it can't have been all that common. The Russians made something like 5 times as many PPsHs as the Germans made SMGs of all kinds. And they didn't have any regular source of 9mm ammo, as it wasn't a round they used.

Ah yes thank you for correcting me smile.gif

Would this be appealing to players here?

Hmm fog of war, if they decide to do this then they should (IMHO) give us some kind of rough map of the terrain (maybe a topographical map because they area has been reconed out in advance). That way i think it would be more realistic.
  10. You can always select view 1 (groundlevel) go to the spot you want and check LOS the old-fashioned way, without using that fancy LOS-tool, of course it's not as accurate but it gives a pretty good picture.

Btw BFC could you make it so that when i plot a movement i can see what the distance is, i know the LOS-tool can do this, but it would be much more practical.

    Thanks
